Is this the new Lamborghini Huracan?

Thu, 19 Dec 2013

All aboard the Leak Train! While we know that all the official images and details are coming soon, the Lamborghini Huracan (if that is its real name...) is showing up all over the internet (Automobile Magazine Hong Kong's Facebook page, for instance) in a dashing yellow paint scheme. While we're not presently able to confirm or deny the accuracy of these seven leaked images, when compared to the spy shots we've already seen, we can say they look convincingly real.
If they're legit, what we're looking at is the replacement for the Lamborghini Gallardo, which first went into production way back in 2003 and has gone on to sell an astonishing 14,022 units, a record for the Italian brand. Put another way, the Huracan has very large shoes to fill. Judging by its badge, which reads LP610-4, it will be doing so with 610 horsepower and all-wheel drive.
Take a look at the seven images above, and stay tuned for the full official floodgates to open in very short order.

Lamborghini Huracan LP580-2 is a purist's RWD, 571-hp dream

Tue, Nov 17 2015

Purists rejoice: Lamborghini has revealed the new Huracan LP580-2, ditching the all-wheel drive system for a rear-drive setup and a slight decrease in power. Like the previous Gallardo LP550-2 (and Balboni edition) before it, the Huracan LP580-2 is based on the same technologies as the LP610-4 coupe and Spyder. Instead of 602 horsepower and 413 pound-feet of torque, it produces 571 hp and 398 lb-ft to the rear wheels through the same seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox. Some might balk at the lack of availability of a manual transmission, but Lamborghini figures few (if any) would have ordered one that way at any rate. What the new setup means is more tail-happy handling, which the engineers in Sant'Agata have only encouraged that through specific tuning of the electronic systems. Equally as important is a lower dry weight of 3,062 pounds – 73 fewer than the all-wheel-drive coupe. To set the rear-drive version apart from its AWD counterpart, Lamborghini has restyled the front and rear ends and anchored it to the road on staggered 19-inch wheels coated in Pirelli PZero rubber. Aluminum calipers grip steel (instead of carbon-ceramic) rotors to keep it all in check. In measurable terms, that all comes down to a 0-62 time quoted at 3.4 seconds and a top speed at 199 miles per hour - respectively 0.2 seconds and 3 mph slower than the LP610-4. But the LP580-2 isn't about outright pace or bragging rights. Those are best left to the more potent and grippy model, and to the yet more powerful versions that are sure to follow. In the meantime, we can look forward to the getting a closer look at the latest version of the Huracan in the flesh at the LA Auto Show. Lamborghini's first US Winter Accademia should be snow freaking cool

Thu, Dec 11 2014

Though they are equipped almost exclusively with all-wheel drive, a Lamborghini might not be our first choice to drive in the snow. Not for practical reasons, anyway. But the idea sure does sound like fun – and probably more than a little bit educational, too. That's why Lamborghini established the Winter Accademia. Similar to the warm-weather Lamborghini Accademia we recently undertook at Laguna Seca, the Lamborghini Winter Accademia is a factory-organized advanced driving course, only this one takes place in the snow. The program was previously held only in Livogno, Italy, but the Bolognese automaker is now bringing it to the United States. Lamborghini will hold its Winter Accademia program during two sessions in early February at Snowmass in Aspen, Colorado (the same resort town where Ferrari held its winter driving program for the FF). During those sessions, pupils will have the chance to drive the Aventador and Huracan in the snow under the tutelage of factory instructors who will teach them techniques like emergency braking, drifting and lapping a makeshift roadcourse in the snow. Which sounds not only like a whole lot of fun, but like good skills to anyone who doesn't want to put their high-performance sports car in the garage for the entirety of the winter season. LAMBORGHINI ANNOUNCES FIRST-EVER NORTH AMERICAN WINTER ACCADEMIA FOR 2015 High Performance, Dynamic Ice and Snow Driving Coupled with Once-in-a-Lifetime Opportunity in Aspen/Snowmass HERNDON, Va., December 9, 2014 – Lamborghini Squadra Corse is gearing-up for its first-ever North American-based winter driving school. The 2015 Winter Accademia at Aspen/Snowmass will provide driving enthusiasts and brand aficionados an opportunity to push exclusive Lamborghini cars and themselves to the limit. For those who crave the opportunity, the Lamborghini Winter Accademia program, which takes place February 5-7 and 6-8, 2015 in Aspen/Snowmass, Colorado, will allow enthusiasts to experience the all-wheel-drive supremacy of the Aventador LP 700-4 as well as the Huracan LP 610-4 on ice and snow. Under the guidance of passionate, professional Lamborghini instructors, participants will not only handle critical winter-driving conditions, but learn techniques exclusive to the Lamborghini Winter Accademia Program.
