I started building this car about two years ago. I have worked many years restoring classics and building race cars for profit. When I started this project, I had planned on using a Fiero chassis. After buying a used 1989 Fiero and beginning to chop it up, I came to the conclusion that it was a crappy way to go. So, I scrapped it entirely. I had bought the fiberglass body, and had it sitting there, so I decided to use my experience and help from other industry friends, and began constructing and tubular chassis. It turned out great, I used 1" and 2" steel tubing for all the framework. Then, to save on weight, I constructed all the panels with 18 gauge aluminum. Then I decided to go a little further and make the cockpit as quiet as possible. So I put double panels with insulation. On each side of the frame surrounding the cockpit is a layer of 18 gauge aluminum with several inches of insulation between them. The front suspension is a mustang II style coil over system. It is fully adjustable. The rear suspension is a five link custom built configuration with a coil over system and a rear control arm. I had planned on using a LS9 Corvette engine, and a Porsche G50/50 transaxle. I built the engine bay to accommodate. It is VERY large indeed. However you could choose any smaller configuration if you wanted. I also decided I could make the rear end of the car look a little better than factory so I redesigned and fabricated the rear panels including the rear bumper, and deck lid. This is a kit car and there is still a lot to be done, however the hardest parts are complete. The buyer of this project should know how to build cars or be willing to hire someone to build it for them. The wheels are Porsche racing rims from Victor Equipment Rims and the tires are all Nitto NT 01 315/35/zr18. They are absolutely huge! Included are a few extras like the power rack and pinion, steering column, Wilwood four piston super light forged brake calipers, pedal assembly, and a few others. I'm willing to crate the entire car and ship via common carrier at whatever the shipping costs are plus $500 for crating and packaging. Things to be done are drivetrain installation, final bodywork, trunk and engine bay panelling and details, door mounting, glass and interior. The interior body panels are included and will need upholstery. The pictures of this project are of the car as it sits right now. What you see is what you get. The reason I'm selling this is because of two things. First is I don't have the time in my daily life to finish it. It's taken countless hours to get it to this stage and with my new family and work, I just don't have the time. Secondly is I'm moving this October to another country and really don't want to take it with me or pay for storage. If you have any questions, you can call me direct at 540-221-5826 but please read this description before calling me. The car is located near Winchester VA. The body alone cost $4500, tires were $500 per tire, wheels were nearly $2000, and I lost track of all the other expenses. The doors on the car are only temporarily attached right now for alignment purposes. They will require hinge installation and final alignments. This is a great find for someone who loves building cars and has the means.
I will accept cash, cashiers check, personal check (car is released once check clears), or major credit cards or debit cards through PayPal
Thank you and happy bidding!

Lamborghini gets to work on Huracan LP610-4 Super Trofeo

Mon, 02 Jun 2014

We all know the story of how Automobili Lamborghini got its start. The short of it is that Ferruccio, who had already started a successful tractor business, wanted to stick it to Enzo Ferrari, so he started making sports cars of his own. Lamborghini, however, never embraced motorsports to the same degree that Ferrari has - dabbling in Formula One engines in the early '90s and the occasional foray into GT racing - but these days the Raging Bull marque is getting more serious about racing. It partners with Reiter Engineering to field competition versions of its road-going supercars, and organizes its own one-make series with individual championships around the world.
That's where the new Huracán comes in. While the Ferrari Challenge has progressed from the 348 to the 355, 360, 430 and now the 458, the Lamborghini Super Trofeo has always been centered around the Gallardo. That's because the series only kicked off in 2009, and the Gallardo had been in production since 2003. But now that the Gallardo has been replaced by the Huracán, the Squadra Corse team is hard at work on their new Super Trofeo racer.
To that end, Lamborghini has recruited racing drivers Fabio Babini and Adrian Zaugg to conduct development work on the Huracán LP 610-4 Super Trofeo. Babini is a GT racing veteran who took a class win at Le Mans in 2001, while Zaugg came up the formula racing ladder, competing on A1GP and GP2 before signing on as a Lamborghini factory driver.

Lamborghini Asterion leaked in print ahead of Paris debut

Mon, 29 Sep 2014

The first purportedly leaked images from an Italian magazine of Lamborghini's new vehicle for the Paris Motor Show are on the web, and they closely echo the model's silhouette from the teaser. However, there's no official mention of a name to confirm that this is being called the Asterion, as rumored.
The profile image (right) definitely suggests this is the same model that Lamborghini is previewing for Paris. It features the same slightly arcing hood and roof, and it has a rear air intake behind the door. The shape also seems to support the belief that this concept has a 2+2 seating arrangement to echo earlier Lambo models like Espada.
According to Autoblog.nl, which has posted the images, the vehicle may use a hybrid V10 with three electric motors to produce in the neighborhood of 900 horsepower. Furthermore, it claims that this might be just one of two concepts that Lamborghini is bringing to the Paris show. For now it's still a mystery, but all should be revealed on October 2 for the vehicle's unveiling.

Twin-turbo Lamborghini ignites at 250 mph

Wed, 18 Sep 2013

Yesterday we covered a crash at the Unlimited 500+ drag race in Moscow, featuring a Nissan GT-R, but today brings better news: a Lamborghini Gallardo making 2,005 horsepower successfully went 250 miles per hour on the one-mile strip in 23.9 seconds without crashing. That's the good part. The bad part is the single-serving supercar burst into flames immediately after it crossed the finish line. Fortunately the driver was able to quickly bring the Lamborghini to a stop and get out of the car, but we have a feeling it will need some engine work before it sees any more action. That and perhaps a new paint job.
Underground Racing tuned the Gallardo LP570-4 Superleggera's V10 to such an astronomical power output with the help of what sounds like twin-turbochargers (which is typical of UR builds). But despite the very impressive mile time, it's still hard not to feel sorry for the poor engine, which just couldn't take the pressure. Watch the 2,005-hp Gallardo reach 250 mph - then catch fire - in the video below.
