Lamborghini's Centenario Roadster has arrived and it's already sold out

We love a good crazy Lamborghini design. While Pagani and, arguably, Koenigsegg have overtaken Lambo in the crazy department lately, Lamborghini still has its magic touch. For evidence, let us introduce you to the Centenario Roadster. It was unveiled this afternoon at Pebble Beach. Based on the Centenario coupe that was built in honor of Ferruccio Lamborghini's hundredth birthday (if he were still alive today), the roofless version is essentially the same supercar, but with the added luxury of unlimited headroom. Both Centenarios are based on the underpinnings of a Lamborghini Aventador and built around a carbon monocoque with a 759-horsepower, 6.5-liter V12 in the middle. Thanks to the naturally aspirated V12, the Centenario Roadster can sprint to 62 mph in 2.9 seconds, which is only a tenth of a second slower than the coupe. Not bad. Only 20 Roadsters will be built, the same number as the coupe, and, according to Automotive News, they've all been sold. While the hardtop went for $2 million, the Centenario Roadster, in all of its roofless glory, will run roughly $2.3 million. To us, even though we can't afford it, the insane price tag somehow makes sense. Gumball team creates Lamborghini-powered Batmobile

Look, whatever you think of the Gumball 3000 Rally, it does attract some spectacular machinery. High-end supercars and modded monsters are the norm, but occasionally, something really special pops up. Like the Batmobile. Okay, so this isn't exactly the Batmobile, but the Dark Knight's wheels clearly served as the inspiration for this brute. It comes from Team Galag, one of the many groups that contest the globe-trotting Gumball. This car has had very real, very talented hands on it during development. According to the video, the lead engineer spent 15 years at Sweden's Koenigsegg, which might explain the lovely detail on the carbon-fiber body. The fixed wheel covers are impressive but disorienting, making it look like the car just hovers over the road. Underneath all that carbon fiber sits a thumping 5.2-liter V10, borrowed from a Lamborghini Gallardo. This might be the only application where this engine is underwhelming – look at that body, and then listen to the engine. It just feels a little mismatched for such a wild looking car. Driving your million-dollar supercar or ultra-lux limousine carefully and pridefully on to the well-manicured lawns of a fancy concurs d'elegance is what your old man did, square. Driving your exotic through mud and filth, with fast sideways bits and loads of counter steering is what all the hip kids are up to these days.
Having already experienced the puerile joys of seeing a Rolls-Royce turf a lawn and a Ferrari Enzo slide around the farm, we can now enjoy this Lamborghini Gallardo in the mud and ruts. The video below shows about exactly what you'd expect from WRC-themed title, except for lacking in big air and, you know, really good, fast driving. Still, there's mud. Check it out below.
