1997 Lamborghini Diablo VT Roadster
This 1997 Lamborghini Diablo VT Roadster is one of only 200 VT Roadsters worldwide. The Diablo Rosso exterior paint
is in good condition with only a couple imperfections and nicks. The interior is Tan with red piping that is in
excellent condition for its age. Showing 44,300 miles or 71,295 km, it features the original mid-mounted 492HP V12
engine, 5-speed manual transmission, Viscous Traction “VT” all wheel drive system. In addition, it is equipped
with hydraulic front lift system for ramp clearance, an aftermarket exhaust system, factory installed rear wing,
Alpine premium CD Sound system, Brembo 4 piston braking system and the 3 piece OZ Racing Ultra-Light Aluminum
wheels.
A complete engine out inspection with heads off, including engine valves adjustment, fluids, gaskets and seals and
new clutch system was performed less than 800 miles or eight months ago. The owner’s manual, tools, remotes and a
car cover are included and shown in the pictures.
This VT model features what was to become a Lamborghini staple on its' flagship car, ALL-Wheel drive. Introduced in
1993 the all wheel drive system was adapted from the LM002 and allows up to 25% of the car's power to be sent to
the front wheels improving handling significantly over the rear drive version.
The Diablo was produced between 1990 and 2001. During this period, Lamborghini introduced several variations of the
Diablo concept, the first being the Diablo VT (Visco Traction), which featured an all-wheel drive.
The Lamborghini bosses had wished for a maximum speed of at least 320 kph, and the engineers made this wish come
true: With a top speed of 325 kph and an acceleration from 0-100 in 4.5 seconds the Diablo claimed the pole
position in the super sports cars segment! Powered by a newly developed V12 engine. Four valves per cylinder, a
computer controlled multi-point fuel injection and a displacement of 5.7 liters helped produce a maximum of 492 HP.
Other improvements debuting on the VT included front air intakes below the driving lamps to improve brake cooling,
larger intakes in the rear arches, a more ergonomic interior with a revised dashboard, electronically adjustable
dampers, four-piston brake calipers, power steering, and minor engine refinements.
The Diablo VT Roadster was introduced in December 1995. Besides the roof, the roadster's body was altered from the
fixed-top VT model in a number of ways. The front bumper was revised, replacing the quad rectangular driving lamps
with two rectangular and two round units.
The styling is timeless and has helped Diablo’s become the investment they are today. This capable 202 mph car
could be part of your collection or driven on the weekend for fun, they choice is yours and what a great decision
to make.

Lamborghini will unveil an enigmatic hypercar at the Frankfurt auto show

Fri, Aug 23 2019

Lamborghini released a dark teaser image that previews a new model scheduled to break cover during the 2019 Frankfurt Auto Show. Posted on its official Instagram channel, the teaser shot asks more questions than it answers while giving us one more reason to look forward to the event. "Just open your eyes to the future," Lamborghini instructed its fans in the caption that accompanied the photo. That's not much to go off of, but the blacked-out image looks like it depicts the front of a low-slung supercar wearing Y-shaped LED running lights. The company's logo is the only other visible detail, but we see enough to tell whatever Lamborghini is teasing shares a few key styling cues with the striking Terzo Millennio concept unveiled as a design study in 2017.  This content is hosted by a third party. To view it, please update your privacy preferences. Manage Settings.   The resemblance fills in another piece of the puzzle. Developed jointly with MIT, the Terzio Millennio ditched the Aventador's sonorous, naturally-aspirated V12 in favor of in-wheel electric motors fed by supercapacitor energy storage technology. These components aren't ready for production yet, but earlier rumors claimed the Terzo Millennio's strikingly futuristic design and proud emphasis on clean, eco-friendly performance would influence Lamborghini's first road-going gasoline-electric hybrid. We might be looking at the yet-unnamed model. Where it will slot in the Lamborghini range is up in the air, too. It's not replacing the Huracan, and the Aventador S is expected to stick around until the early 2020s. It doesn't look related to the high-riding Urus in any way, either, which hints it's a limited-edition model. Lamborghini has a proven history of previewing new cars with limited-edition models, so the Frankfurt-bound model could give the public an early taste of the car that will replace the Aventador S. We're also not ruling out the possibility that the car is somehow related to Lamborghini's interest in the new hypercar category created for the World Endurance Championship (WEC). None of these theories are mutually exclusive; the car could draw inspiration from the Terzo Millennio, hint at the Aventador's replacement, and give the Aston Martin Valkyrie a run for its money at Le Mans in 2020. The speculation around Lamborghini's next model will end when it makes its debut in Frankfurt 10.

Audi CEO Rupert Stadler: Ducati is not for sale

Sat, Jun 18 2016

"Ducati is not for sale." Those words, attributed to Audi CEO Rupert Stadler, are about as clear and definitive as can be, and they reiterate a previous statement about the potential sale of the premium Italian motorcycle brand that was made in March of this year. "[Ducati and Lamborghini] belong to Audi and, together with us, have an excellent future," said Stadler. Thing is, Audi, as well-off and established as it may be, still falls under the Volkswagen umbrella. And, as you're surely aware, things haven't exactly been smooth sailing for the VW Group over the last several months. The German automaker has squirreled away billions of dollars in anticipation of the legal fallout that's sure to come from the falsification of vehicle emissions data, and that's going to leave the company strapped for cash. All of that bad news led to speculation that VW could sell off some of its non-core businesses. What of the future of the Scania and Man heavy truck brands? Those don't currently appear to be on the auction block, either. VW's continued involvement in the HD truck segment was announced as part of the brand's TOGETHER - Strategy 2025 plan, in which Volkswagen outlined plans to push further into vehicle electrification and vehicle autonomy. 2016 Lamborghini Huracan LP 580-2 First Drive [w/video]

Mon, Dec 14 2015

The most enjoyable – not necessarily the "best" or "fastest" – driving machines permit latitude with their exactitude, using ruthless precision to support a driver's personal style instead of smother it. Very few cars get it right. The Porsche 911 GT3 is one that does. Add the Lamborghini Huracan LP 580-2 – the new rear-wheel drive variant of the all-wheel drive Huracan LP 610-4 – to the short list. To get a sense of how the rear-drive car stacks up, let's revisit our impressions of the all-wheel version. We drove the LP 610-4 at Laguna Seca back in May for the brand's Intensivo driving school, and two idiosyncracies stood out. The first is that it ticked around corners like the second hand on a watch. That's great for an autocross, pivoting through cones like a Tron lightcycle. But on a circuit, you want the freedom to find your own best way to move the machine around the track, and the all-wheel-drive Huracan won't relent on its commitment to ultimate precision. You aim at grace but you get mechanics – a robot trying to follow your instructions for dancing the Tarantella. The second peculiarity was that it squirmed under heavy braking, coming down from triple-digit speeds into a hairpin like a bull shaking off a swarm of flies. The timed run from 0-62 miles per hour is just 0.2 seconds slower than the 610-4. The LP 580-2 is the prescription to cure both symptoms. As the name attests, output drops from 602 horsepower to 572 hp and torque is reduced from 413 pound-feet to 398 lb-ft, all of it sent to the rear wheels. The timed run from 0-62 miles per hour is just 0.2 seconds slower than the 610-4. No mere devaluation of potency, engineers remapped the 5.2-liter V10's power and torque delivery so it's different from the AWD version. Power delivery is further differentiated between the 580-2's manual and automatic shifting, and it feels more linear when you're working the paddles. You need a fetish for grilles to spot the variance between this car and the all-wheel drive version. Designers reworked the strakes on the lower front intake and removed the hexagonal mesh ornamentation, so you peer straight at radiators. The corners of a larger rear grille cut deeper into the bumper. The badge ahead of the rear wheels says, "LP 580-2." The standard 19-inch wheels are of a new design called "Kari." Those are the visual differences. The cabin is identical.
