Spicy Red 2009 Kia Spectra Ex on 2040-cars
Quakertown, Pennsylvania, United States
For Sale: 2009 Kia Spectra EX 4 door sedan with 73000 miles. 2.0L 4 cylinder motor, automatic transmission. Power windows and locks, keyless entry, cruise control, tilt wheel. I have owned this car since new and have maintained the car fairly meticulously. Changed the oil and filter every 5000 miles, changed the trans fluid every 30000 miles. Changed all the necessary filters, spark plugs, pcv valve, etc. All the lights work and everything works the way it should. I have not changed the timing or accessory belts because I was told they should last at least 100k. The rear bumper has a few dents in it as does the passenger rocker panel from slow speed oopsies (my fault). Nothing major. There are some scratches on the hood above the driver headlight where it was hit by a shingle from Hurricane Sandy. There are some minor pits in the clear coat. I detailed the car today, and it shined up pretty nicely. The driver seat does have a burn hole in it. I don't smoke, but I did that once, and I regret it. The tires are fairly new and in good shape. I recently replaced all the brake pads and rotors and wiper blades. The car is PA inspected until 4/15. Obviously, this item is available for pick up only. I prefer cash or check, but may have to wait a few days for check to clear to be on the safe side. Any questions, email me at wysjf@comcast.net |

How the Koreans are cracking the luxury market
Tue, 19 Nov 2013
South Korea's two largest automotive brands are no longer the same companies they were when they first entered the world stage.
Anyone who visits Seoul after a few years absence is likely going to be in for a shock. What was, not that long ago, a decidedly third-world city is today a thriving, sprawling metropolis increasingly on a par with the world's most modern cities.
Kia calls reports of second US plant 'groundless'
Thu, 25 Apr 2013In discussing how Kia planned to use a focus on quality to raise its brand perception and take the fight to BMW and Audi instead of Toyota, a recent article in Automotive News Europe said one of the primary constraints was production capacity; Kia simply doesn't have the ability to make enough cars to meet its aims with the plants it has.
The CEO of Hyundai-Kia is said to be reluctant to build more plants because of that focus on quality and the fact that its suppliers are stretched to the limit. The effects of that position are being felt right now with both makers losing market share, as in the case of Hyundai not being able to make enough of its Veloster Turbo for the US market.
A South Korean newspaper apparently reported last week that Kia was planning to build a second factory in Georgia with capacity for up to 150,000 units annually, and that the company would break ground as soon as this month on "KMMG2." Kia has responded to the news by saying, "The report is all groundless." The mayor of West Point, site of the current KMMG plant, said he didn't know anything about such plans, nor did the Georgia department of economic development have knowledge of a new Kia factory.
Kia sold 123 North American Soul EVs in October
Sat, Nov 15 2014How happy were those Kia hamsters last month? We're guessing they were pretty pleased, because reports are out that the South Korean automaker sold 123 Kia Soul electric vehicles in North America during the model's first month of sales on the continent. Now crank up that funky music. Kia sold 109 Soul EVs in the US and another 14 in Canada, Kia-World reports (the site is unaffiliated with the automaker). Kia's expected to move about 5,000 Soul EVs in North America by the end of next year. Kia spokesman James Hope, in an e-mail to AutoblogGreen, said the automaker doesn't specifically disclose the number of gas and electric Soul models it sells in North America. Those volume numbers are on par with lower-volume electric variants of conventional models that are generally positioned as "compliance" vehicles (i.e., vehicles sold specifically to comply with California's zero-emissions vehicle mandate). For instance, the Ford Focus Electric sold 186 units in the US last month, while the Smart ForTwo ED electric moved 150 vehicles. Honda sold 23 Fit EVs in October. The Kia Soul EV has base price of $33,700 and a single-charge range of 93 miles. You can read our Quick Spin impressions of the new EV here.
