I personally road test each vehicle before it is offered for sale so I can give you my first hand opinion of how it runs and drives. Please keep in mind that I am not a mechanic. Each vehicle is represented accurately and honestly to the best of my knowledge and ability. An administrative fee of $249 will be added to the final bid of each auction. Up for a NO RESERVE auction today is a very clean 2000 KIA Sportage EX 4x4. KIA’s are fantastic vehicles. I would rate the exterior of this Sportage to be in ABOVE AVERAGE CONDITION for the age of this vehicle. As you can see, this KIA shows very well. It is finished in bright white with gray/black accent stripes and shines like glass. The fenders, rockers and doors all look great which is hard to find on an older vehicle. The bumpers and trim look great. All of the glass and lenses are intact. The alloy wheels look good and are wrapped in a Brand NEW set of PRIMEWELL All Season Radials P205-75-15. Please take your time and look at each photo and read the entire description. I would rate the interior of this KIA Sportage EX to be in ABOVE AVERAGE CONDITION for the age of this vehicle. The door panels are clean and tight. The carpets show well and are thick/full looking throughout the interior. The cloth seats show very well and are comfortable. The rear seats fold down to increase the cargo area. The rear hatch operates perfectly and the spare tire swings in & out for easy loading and unloading. The AM/FM stereo CD player is original and sounds good. The climate control system appears to be working properly and the A/C blows COLD. New blower motor just installed. The power windows and locks work properly. I gave a good shampoo to the carpets, seats and original car mats from KIA. I hand waxed the whole exterior. Changed the oil, filter and air filter. Mechanically, this Sportage appears to be in great running and driving condition. The 2.0 litre 4 cylinder engine starts easily and runs smoothly. I did not see any leaks and the engine does not smoke. The suspension feels nice and tight. The steering feels neutral and responsive. The brakes stop with no issues. Her road manners are excellent. The engine keeps perfect temperature and excellent oil pressure at all times. Makes good power and accelerates easily. The automatic transmission engages smoothly and shifts properly with no issues. The 4WD system was tested and is working properly. Out on the highway, she cruises nice with no complaints. If you've been looking for a clean, small, efficient SUV, take a good look at this one. Kia dealers report K900 flagship RWD sedan is coming to US
Fri, 20 Sep 2013Kia has told dealers that it will bring a $50,000 to $70,000, rear-drive flagship sedan to the United States early in 2014, although it won't be called what you think. Instead of the unloved Quoris name, the full-size sedan will be called the K900.
That name change is a welcomed one, judging by our initial reactions to Quoris. Names aside, though, the K900 sounds like an interesting piece of kit. It'll be riding on the same platform as the Hyundai Equus, although we suspect Kia's car will be quite a different beast than it's corporate cousin. Automotive News is reporting that the K900 should have a pair of engines when it arrives in the US - a 3.8-liter V6 and a 5.0-liter V8. The former puts out 290 horsepower, while the V8, which is likely the same Tau engine found in the Equus, should have around 420 hp. LED headlights, adaptive cruise control and all the other trimmings expected at this price point will also make appearances on the K900.
Kia's national dealer council, Don Hobden, told Automotive News the K900 should represent "7-Series value for a 5-Series price." While Kia wouldn't comment on the new model, AN reports that it's targeting 5,000 units next year, with a limited rollout at select dealerships.
Hyundai plans to catch up with other automakers, offer EVs
Thu, Mar 30 2017YONGIN, South Korea (Reuters) - South Korea's Hyundai Motor Co is developing its first dedicated architecture for electric vehicles, seeking to catch up with the likes of Tesla in the growing segment with multiple, long-range models. While the platform will not be completed soon, Hyundai Motor and affiliate Kia plan to roll out small electric sport utility vehicles (SUVs) based on an existing underpinning next year, said Lee Ki-sang, who leads Hyundai-Kia's green cars operations. Hyundai will launch an electric SUV, followed by a sibling model by Kia Motors next year, Lee said, citing strong demand for SUVs. The subcompact or compact models would have a range of more than 300 km (186 miles) per charge, and would be "more competitive" than rival offerings, Lee said. And Hyundai said in a statement on Thursday that it plans to launch a new luxury electric vehicle under its Genesis marque in 2021, after introducing a plug-in hybrid version of an unidentified Genesis model in 2019. The separate platform represents a major push into the battery electric-car segment for a firm which has long trumpeted rival fuel-cell vehicles, reflecting strong investor pressure to compete more vigorously in a market that has been stimulated by U.S.-based Tesla's longer-range models. And tough fuel-economy and emissions regulations in the United States, Europe and China are compelling automakers to push fuel-efficient cars even though low oil prices have undercut demand. Hyundai's electric-car platform would allow the automaker to install a battery pack in vehicle floors to accommodate more battery capacity and maximize cabin space, Lee said. "The electric-vehicle platform will require high up-front investments, but we are doing this to prepare for the future," he said at Hyundai-Kia's green car research center in the city of Yongin, outside Seoul. He did not reveal the cost. Lee, a senior vice-president at Hyundai Motor, was speaking during an interview on the eve of an auto show that kicked off in Seoul on Thursday. Analysts said Hyundai had no choice but to build separate electric-vehicle platforms to be relevant in the segment. "The separate platform may incur losses initially, but Hyundai will be left behind the market if they don't offer long-distance models, like 300 km, 500 km and 600 km," said Ko Tae-bong, an analyst at Hi Investment & Securities.
Kia reveals Niro concept in Frankfurt, by Frankfurt and for Frankfurt
Thu, 29 Aug 2013Although the Frankfurt Motor Show may be home turf to a half dozen German automakers, Kia won't have far to go when it wheels its new concept over to the Messe for the exposition in a couple of weeks. That's because the show car you see here was designed less than a kilometer away from the convention center at Kia's European design center.
It's called the Niro, and it's designed to gauge public interest - particularly the European public's - for a potential new B-segment model. Kia's not saying much else about the project, only that it was directed by its chief European designer Gregory Guillaume and that it "combines a mischievous character in a clearly robust and substantial yet stylish bodyshape" and that it incorporates stainless steel and other materials into its shape.
What we can see from the images (which you can view in the gallery above) distributed with the press release (below) is a compact crossover coupe with Kia's trademark grille (part of the neon green accents), a contrasting greenhouse, and butterfly doors to access a molded cockpit with widescreen infotainment display. For more than that, though, we'll have to wait until the concept is revealed in Frankfurt on September 10.
