This is a 2003 Kia Spectra base model, being offered for sale. The Spectra is located in central NJ, and can be picked up or shipped. The car runs and drives great! It has a pretty blue exterior, with pinstriping intact. The air conditioner works excellent, and gets the air very cold. The interior is in very good condition, with no holes or tears in any of the upholstery that I could see. A good steam cleaning will restore the interior to a sparkling new look. The floors have some wear visible, as does the inside of the driver's side door. There are a few spots on the exterior where rust is visible, but the areas are small. A little bit of matching paint will prevent the rust from spreading. The damaged areas are in front of the driver's side mirror, and by the two rear wheel wells. The damage spots by the wheel wells are very small, two inches each at most. The damage in front of the mirror is a bit larger, and can be seen in one of the photos below. The undercarriage shows a small amount of rust, which is to be expected in a car driven on the east coast, where snow and salt cause at least some rust to most cars on the road. Under the hood, however, is clean and free of rust or other defects. When you look under the hood, it looks like a practically new car, with even the motor looking almost new from the outside. It appears that the former owner took very good care of the parts under the hood. The oil does not smell or appear to be burnt, and the transmission shifts smoothly. Even with the exhaust leaks, this car does not make much noise at all when driving. Regarding the vehicle's mechanical operation, this car drives well. The idle air control motor was replaced in error, as it was not the actual motor that was broken. So the IAC itself is brand new. The connector for the idle control motor is the part which is broken, and can be obtained from a junkyard and installed by a mechanic for generally less than $50. Due to this problem, the CEL is illuminated, and when the car is idling, the sound of the idle can be heard to go up and down as the connector moves with the vibration of the car. The two front wheels have wheel bearings that are making some noise. It is not a large amount of noise, but they should be replaced within the first month or two of ownership. The mechanic who checked them out said that the car may drive for awhile just as it is, as wheel bearings will make noise for some time before they actually break. When the car was purchased, the wheel bearings were not making any noise, so this is a new problem. In addition, the exhaust has a few leaks in it that should be repaired. If you are purchasing this car in a state that does not require computerized emissions testing, then the only repair that is really necessary is the wheel bearings, as the other problems do not affect driveability, but only inspection eligibility. Such states include Alabama, Alaska, Florida, North Dakota, South Carolina, etc. This car would be perfect for you if you live in one of those states. I have had a mechanic look at this car, and while I cannot guarantee that there are no other issues, these were all the issues that he was able to find in a test drive and under hood/ under vehicle inspection. If you are buying this car from out of state, I recommend that you utilize our shipping service. A quote can be provided to you, if you send me a message including your destination zip code. Shipping rates are very reasonable, and will in most cases cost you less than a plane ticket here and gas and tolls to return home. If you are a NJ resident, we are required to collect sales tax on the transaction. We can also provide temporary plates for NJ and out of state residents if you choose to drive the car back to your destination. This car will be a great car to get you to work or school, and is an excellent first car since it has low gas mileage, handles well, and is an automatic transmission car, making it easier to learn to drive with. Aside from the small spots of damage mentioned above, this car looks great. There are no dents or noticeable scratches in the body itself. This car has relatively low mileage for a car of its age, and it will undoubtedly provide you with reliable transportation for years to come. TERMS of sale: This vehicle is sold as is where is with no returns and no warrantees either implied or stated. Transport of vehicle is buyer's responsibility. Please remember that you are buying a USED vehicle, not a new vehicle and expect to see some signs of wear and possible missing or broken items. We go to great lengths to describe the vehicle as accurately as possible and show any existing damage in the photographs that we post, however, we strongly recommend that you inspect this vehicle in person. All sales are final and there are no refunds. I am a licensed NJ used car dealer. We can provide temp tags. If you are registering your car in NJ, I MUST collect the sales tax. For an additional fee, I can also obtain your title, registration and plates for you. We do not charge any documentation fee if you are from out of state. Buyer MUST sign the title transfer papers and provide a copy of his/her driver’s license to complete the sale. If you need a temporary plate, I will also need to see proof of insurance. For questions about this auction, please call or text (732) 754-3548 and reference the item title. Thanks for looking. |

Kia hatches sporty wagon concept for Frankfurt Motor Show
Wed, Aug 30 2017Kia pulled the covers off a new unnamed concept car that will debut Sept. 12 at the Frankfurt Motor Show. It's a sleek hatchback that previews Kia's direction for the next-generation Cee'd model sold in Europe. This concept is longer, sportier and has more of a sport wagon dynamic than the current Cee'd, which is a homely runabout for the Continent. This concept was conceived at Kia's design center in Frankfurt, Germany, which sits 500 meters, or about 5 1/2 football fields from the Frankfurt Motor Show. No other details were immediately available, but Kia has a history of revealing striking concepts and using elements of them in production models. Kia has also increasingly mined its European design studio for top stylings as it elevates the profile of the brand globally. Meanwhile, Kia will also show the Stonic small crossover in Frankfurt, a vehicle that's a sibling to the Hyundai Kona. IHS Markit, an automotive research firm, forecasts the Stonic will sell about 118,300 units — its peak level — in 2019 as Kia capitalizes on the compact utility trend. 2019 Kia Niro EV First Drive Review | How to have fun in a practical EV
Thu, Feb 7 2019SANTA CRUZ, Calif. — The Kia Niro EV rounds out the Niro trio, and is the most impressive on paper. With the same 64-kWh battery and 201-horsepower electric motor as the Hyundai Kona Electric, it's rated at 239 miles of driving range between charges. Granted, 239 miles is less than the 258 miles the Kona EV gets on paper, so we were eager to see what the differences were between the similar EVs. After spending an icy, frigid weekend driving (and falling in love with) the Hyundai Kona Electric around Michigan we hopped on a plane, and headed to Santa Cruz to try out the 2019 Kia Niro EV (and to escape the cold). With a longer wheelbase and greater overall length than the Kona, the Niro EV offers a little more rear legroom — about three inches extra. As a 6-footer, I didn't find it uncomfortable to squeeze in behind an even taller driver. This bodes well for those of us with car seats we need to install in the back of our EVs. The Niro EV also boasts more luggage space than the Kona, with 18.5 cubic feet behind the rear seats, and 53 cubic feet with the seats folded down. We were impressed by the large rear opening and the spaciousness of the cargo area. The driver's seating position took a lot of adjustment to get comfortable in, a problem we didn't have in the Kona. No matter what we did, we felt like we were sitting too high up in the vehicle, but eventually it began to feel natural as our focus shifted from the interior around us to the road in front of us. Still, every time we got back in the car, we felt the need to try to improve the seating position. At least the seats were comfortable and supportive. Thankfully, Kia didn't go overboard with the styling of the Niro EV, and that goes for the interior, too. The oddest thing is the big rotary gear selector. While it looks like it would be in the way of the cupholder, it didn't interfere with grabbing our coffee, and it's more intuitive to use than the Kona Electric's separate PRDN buttons. The rest of the interior is about what you'd expect. There's a lot of plastic, a center stack that's maybe just a little too busy with buttons and controls, a well-incorporated touchscreen and a digital instrument cluster. It's quiet when you turn it on and begin to drive away, as you would expect. Listen carefully and you'll hear the spacey hum of its pedestrian warning system at low speeds, which shuts off as you approach 20 miles per hour.
