This is a 2003 Kia Spectra base model, being offered for sale. The Spectra is located in central NJ, and can be picked up or shipped.

The car runs and drives great! It has a pretty blue exterior, with pinstriping intact. The air conditioner works excellent, and gets the air very cold.
The interior is in very good condition, with no holes or tears in any of the upholstery that I could see. A good steam cleaning will restore the interior to a sparkling new look.
The floors have some wear visible, as does the inside of the driver's side door.

There are a few spots on the exterior where rust is visible, but the areas are small. A little bit of matching paint will prevent the rust from spreading. The damaged areas are in front of the driver's side mirror, and by the two rear wheel wells. The damage spots by the wheel wells are very small, two inches each at most. The damage in front of the mirror is a bit larger, and can be seen in one of the photos below.

The undercarriage shows a small amount of rust, which is to be expected in a car driven on the east coast, where snow and salt cause at least some rust to most cars on the road.

Under the hood, however, is clean and free of rust or other defects. When you look under the hood, it looks like a practically new car, with even the motor looking almost new from the outside. It appears that the former owner took very good care of the parts under the hood. The oil does not smell or appear to be burnt, and the transmission shifts smoothly. Even with the exhaust leaks, this car does not make much noise at all when driving.

Regarding the vehicle's mechanical operation, this car drives well. The idle air control motor was replaced in error, as it was not the actual motor that was broken. So the IAC itself is brand new. The connector for the idle control motor is the part which is broken, and can be obtained from a junkyard and installed by a mechanic for generally less than $50.

Due to this problem, the CEL is illuminated, and when the car is idling, the sound of the idle can be heard to go up and down as the connector moves with the vibration of the car.

The two front wheels have wheel bearings that are making some noise. It is not a large amount of noise, but they should be replaced within the first month or two of ownership. The mechanic who checked them out said that the car may drive for awhile just as it is, as wheel bearings will make noise for some time before they actually break.  When the car was purchased, the wheel bearings were not making any noise, so this is a new problem.

In addition, the exhaust has a few leaks in it that should be repaired. If you are purchasing this car in a state that does not require computerized emissions testing, then the only repair that is really necessary is the wheel bearings, as the other problems do not affect driveability, but only inspection eligibility.
Such states include Alabama, Alaska, Florida, North Dakota, South Carolina, etc. This car would be perfect for you if you live in one of those states.

I have had a mechanic look at this car, and while I cannot guarantee that there are no other issues, these were all the issues that he was able to find in a test drive and under hood/ under vehicle inspection.

If you are buying this car from out of state, I recommend that you utilize our shipping service. A quote can be provided to you, if you send me a message including your destination zip code. Shipping rates are very reasonable, and will in most cases cost you less than a plane ticket here and gas and tolls to return home.

If you are a NJ resident, we are required to collect sales tax on the transaction. We can also provide temporary plates for NJ and out of state residents if you choose to drive the car back to your destination.

This car will be a great car to get you to work or school, and is an excellent first car since it has low gas mileage, handles well, and is an automatic transmission car, making it easier to learn to drive with.

Aside from the small spots of damage mentioned above, this car looks great. There are no dents or noticeable scratches in the body itself. This car has relatively low mileage for a car of its age, and it will undoubtedly provide you with reliable transportation for years to come.

TERMS of sale: This vehicle is sold as is where is with no returns and no warrantees either implied or stated. Transport of vehicle is buyer's responsibility.  Please remember that you are buying a USED vehicle, not a new vehicle and expect to see some signs of wear and possible missing or broken items. We go to great lengths to describe the vehicle as accurately as possible and show any existing damage in the photographs that we post, however, we strongly recommend that you inspect this vehicle in person. All sales are final and there are no refunds. I am a licensed NJ used car dealer. We can provide temp tags. If you are registering your car in NJ, I MUST collect the sales tax. For an additional fee, I can also obtain your title, registration and plates for you. We do not charge any documentation fee if you are from out of state. Kia bringing Habaniro concept to New York Auto Show

Thu, Apr 11 2019

Hyundai and Kia have a full docket planned for the New York Auto Show. We know Hyundai's bringing the Venue subcompact crossover for "urban entrepreneurs," Kia will debut a compact crossover originally conceived for the Indian market. and across the luxury aisle, Genesis will pull covers off an electric show car and the U.S.-market G90. Seems Kia has something else besides: Just Auto says Kia's NY debuts will include the Habaniro concept, and Carscoops caught a photo of it in a NY show newsletter. The misspelling of Habanero, from the same company responsible for the Sorento and Mohave, must be intentional and might make family ties to the Kia Niro. Just Auto says the small, squat crossover is about the size of the Niro, yet the zesty Habaniro concept separates itself from the tapioca Niro in numerous ways. The barricade front end dispenses with the brand's tiger nose grille in favor of a stylized brace that connects both fenders above a husky skid plate. A thin LED breaks into several angles across the fascia to break up the expanse of black brace and banded grille. Based on the front end alone, we wouldn't be surprised if the Habaniro ended up in the next " Tron" franchise installment. Whereas the Niro's a four-door, the Habaniro concept believes three doors is enough, the passenger portals on the side featuring flush door handles that span the door shutline. The glasshouse is cut short aft of the doors to make room for a red slash running from roof to wheel well, a graphic that reminds us of the 2013 Peugeot 308 R concept. From there, cue the requisite enormous wheels, clad in beefy all-terrain rubber. Also notice the lack of side mirrors. We can't wait to find out what this is about. Just Auto had one last tidbit on the compact Kia crossover we knew about before. The name Tusker has been mooted as the global moniker, it seems Trazor could also be in the running. The new offering will slot in below the Sportage and Niro, above the Soul.

Cut the Cute: The 2017 Kia Rio grows up

Thu, Sep 1 2016

The last time the Kia Rio got a ground-up redesign was for the 2012 model year. That gave the Rio a crisp, modern look, but was also extremely cute-sy. For the 2017 model year, Kia tweaked the Rio with a leaner, meaner look. Relatively speaking, anyway. The South Korean automaker previously released design renderings of the Rio, and now come official photos of the car. Kia claims that much of the styling changes were made to emphasize width inside and out. The headlights are slimmer and more aggressive than the wide-eyed lamps of the previous model, and much of the gently curving sheetmetal has been removed in favor of more flat planes. Not only that, but the new Rio is slightly longer, wider, and shorter than its predecessor. Inside, Kia has spruced things up with what looks like a nicer mix of materials. The most unusual part of the interior is the infotainment system, which Kia describes as "floating." The infotainment system extends up and off the dashboard, a bit like the screen on the Honda Civic. The good news is that Kia kept physical buttons part of the interface. The bad news is that the design looks a bit odd, as some of the buttons extend up with the screen and make it look a little like Kia used a stereo that didn't quite fit in the dash. Kia didn't reveal any other specs on the car, but those details will likely come during the Paris Motor Show. This updated Rio is an important model for Kia, as last year it sold 473,000 units worldwide. While it isn't Kia's biggest seller in the US, it did have a slight increase in sales this year. 2018 Kia Stinger GT Long-Term Review Update | What living with the Stinger is like

Tue, Dec 11 2018

You're going to like looking at it, and everyone else will too Man, this car is slick. It's long and low with curves in all the right places. Kia toed the line between in-your-face sportiness and luxury with every design decision on this car. I don't often feel the urge to look back at a car as I walk away, but the Stinger has a way of drawing my eye back to it wherever I go. The bright red paint might be partially responsible for this, but I've found I'm not alone. Everywhere I drive, this car turns heads and brings about inquisitive stares from onlookers — the Kia badge just causes brows to furrow deeper. Never in history have random passersby been this interested in a Kia. It makes sense, though. We don't often see completely new, from-the-ground-up sports sedans these days. The Stinger's fastback shape just makes it even more enticing and refreshingly different. Noticing the sidewalk interest in a car like the Stinger gives me a glimmer of hope for other great sedans to make it through the crossover-apocalypse. Big car, but a small back seat The usable space in the rear seat runs counter to how long and large the car looks. First off, the way the door is shaped makes for a narrow space to slide your body through. It's wide on top but narrows closer to the ground. That's no problem for a young and limber person such as myself, but less flexible folk may find it annoying. With the seat positioned for my 5-foot-10-inch frame, rear legroom is a bit scarcer than I would have thought. Throwing kids back there would be fine, but it still came off as one of the larger disappointments in my book. You'll enjoy the cargo space, though. Hatches are almost always more utilitarian than sedans with trunks, and this trend continues for the Stinger. Loading and unloading is an easy task, and you can shove a ton of stuff back there. Somewhat limited visibility through the short rear window from the driver seat is the only downside of the rear hatch design. It has a dual personality This car firmly plants itself onto the list of ideal daily drivers. Leave it in Comfort mode, turn the Harman Kardon stereo up, and relax on your way to the office. Twist the dial over to Sport, and you'll blow everybody else away getting on the highway as you head home. Like we said in our last long-term update, the Stinger is the perfect GT car, and we stand by that. You can use it as a backroad scalpel on weekends. However, I wouldn't go so far as to say it handles like a sports car.
