This is my wife's 2011 Kia Soul !  She is a teacher and has used this car only to drive to and from her school.  She uses the HOV in Houston so these are only highway miles.  My wife is a neat freak so this car has been babied  No eating or drinking in her car and no one has certainly ever smoked in it.  She has had it hand waxed every 3 months since she has owned it, so the paint shines like new.  It has always  been garaged kept.  She has over $500 in accessories.  Weather Tech plastic mats, Custom dash cover, Cargo mat, Wheel cover, and a full Bra Cover. she has never used the Kia carpet mats with the Soul logo so they are brand new.  This is a great car for a student or as a second car. Gets great gas mileage. I am selling this Kia for what we owe on it.  That is about $1300 below the Blue Book value. The car is in EXCELLENT condition. It has Sirius Radio, Bluetooth Wireless Technology, USB Input Jacks ,Keyless  Entry,  Solar Privacy  Glass, Fog Lights, and so much more.  The interior is FLAWESS as any neat freak will attest to.  This car is up  for sale locally and as soon as our reserve is hit or it sells locally we will take it off ebay.  Don't miss out on this JEM!!  Good luck bidding.  Any questions call Richard at 713-7033776

Kia's promised "four-door coupe" Cub concept... isn't

Thu, 28 Mar 2013

Kia appears to have pulled a quick one on the world with its Cub Concept. As it turns out, the machine isn't the four-door coupe they promised at all. Instead, the little showcar is a five-door hatch with suicide rear doors. That's certainly fine by our reckoning, but it isn't quite what we were expecting to see on display at the Seoul Motor Show. The concept was penned at the company's design studio in Seoul with direction from Peter Schreyer, and it gets its thrust from a 204-horsepower, 1.6-liter direct-injection four-cylinder engine. With 195 pound-feet of torque on hand, we suspect the Cub would have little trouble hustling down the road.
Indoors, the Cub serves up black leather seats with yellow accents as well as a new Driving Information System that uses a gesture camera to control various operations. Right now, there are apparently no plans to put the Cub into production anywhere in the world, but we wouldn't be surprised to see some of the hatchback's elements make their way to the show room floor.

Kia calls reports of second US plant 'groundless'

Thu, 25 Apr 2013

In discussing how Kia planned to use a focus on quality to raise its brand perception and take the fight to BMW and Audi instead of Toyota, a recent article in Automotive News Europe said one of the primary constraints was production capacity; Kia simply doesn't have the ability to make enough cars to meet its aims with the plants it has.
The CEO of Hyundai-Kia is said to be reluctant to build more plants because of that focus on quality and the fact that its suppliers are stretched to the limit. The effects of that position are being felt right now with both makers losing market share, as in the case of Hyundai not being able to make enough of its Veloster Turbo for the US market.
A South Korean newspaper apparently reported last week that Kia was planning to build a second factory in Georgia with capacity for up to 150,000 units annually, and that the company would break ground as soon as this month on "KMMG2." Kia has responded to the news by saying, "The report is all groundless." The mayor of West Point, site of the current KMMG plant, said he didn't know anything about such plans, nor did the Georgia department of economic development have knowledge of a new Kia factory.

Rounding Out The Market's Best Box
As a car critic, you can tell a lot about a new car just by looking at a map. That's because more often than not, the geography of where a vehicle is initially launched will tell you a surprising amount about how the automaker feels about its new baby. Manufacturers want their models to be shown in the best light - dynamically and socially - so they put a lot of thought into where they first let members of the media slip behind the wheel. Luxury cars nestle up closely to swank hotels in the globe's trendiest locales, high-performance cars are let loose on breathtaking mountain roads with adjacent racetracks, and so on. It all makes for a tough life, as you can imagine.
So consider it telling that when Kia first launched the Soul way back in 2009, it did so in Miami. Trendy? Check. Billiard-table level, arrow-straight smooth roads? Frequently snarled with traffic? Check and check. You see, good as it was, the original Soul wasn't a particularly thrilling driver. Competent, sure, but its simplistic suspension, modest power and upright dimensions didn't exactly afford it entertaining driving dynamics. Which is exactly why Kia launched it in an environment utterly devoid of potholes and curves (save those conjured by the area's robust plastic surgery community), instead choosing a city loaded down with pedestrians and slow-moving motorists.
