Dan Neil pokes fun at the celeb cars of 2014
Sun, Dec 28 2014Look, we try really hard not to pay any attention to the Kardashians and their vapid reality TV empire. But, as troubling as that brood may be, occasionally we're impressed and/or horrified by their four-wheeled conveyances. In fact, that curiosity extends beyond talentless reality stars with rotund glutes to celebs in general. That's why we're enjoying Dan Neil's sometimes biting take on the celebrity cars of 2014. Besides paying tribute to Kim K, husband Kanye West and the adorable Lamborghini that their spawn rides about in, Neil also takes a look at LeBron James' turn as a Kia spokesman and boxer Floyd Mayweather's trio of Bugatti Veyrons. Matthew McConaughey is a focus of Neil's as well, thanks to his oft-panned advertisements for Lincoln (and the raucous parodies they inspired), before finishing on the high, with Jerry Seinfeld and his new Porsche 918 Spyder. Kia teases sporty hatchback concept ahead of Detroit
Wed, 18 Dec 2013The UK arm of Kia just released a teaser image (click to enlarge) for a new concept car that will be unveiled next month at the Detroit Auto Show. With little information to go on, the single overhead shot of the unnamed concept shows that it will be a two-door hatchback with a 2+2 seating configuration.
The brief press blast, which is posted below, promises that this is a new concept vehicle, so it's unlikely that it has anything to do with the similarly shaped Provo Concept that Kia showed off earlier this year at the Geneva Motor Show. Kia says that it will release more images of the concept soon, but it won't divulge the full details about the car until Detroit.

Mon, 11 Nov 2013When Bob Dylan and his guitar-driven poetry embraced the amp in the mid-Sixties, he famously endured cries of "Judas!" from at least one dejected folkie. The Voice Of A Generation had gone electric, and apparently not all of his concert-goers were ready for the transition. We suspect the Kia Soul and its dancing hamsters will have an easier time of it.
In early October, Kia confirmed what had already long been rumored - the Soul is going electric, too, and now it's revealing some initial details and specs. The automaker's mega-popular 'box' car will be the company's first EV sold in North America - or indeed, anywhere outside of its home market (Kia has offered its tiny Ray EV to government fleets in Korea in limited numbers). For the moment, officials aren't saying exactly when the Soul EV will hit its North American dealers, but it has pinned down the "second half of 2014," for global overseas deliveries to begin, so it's fair to assume the car will carry a 2015 model year designation.
