Sadly it is time for me to sell this jeep.  This jeep has under gone a complete transformation from a bone stock wrangler to a completely different vehicle.  There has been so many upgrades to this machine I will try to remember most of them but sure I will miss some as I estimate to have about $30,000 worth of just parts and material into this.

The frame:
The frame has been completely gone over, started with cutting off all the original factory mounts and stretching the wheel base both in the rear and front about 6" each. The front stretch was done the right way with removing the factory coil buckets and moving those forward on the frame instead of just the axle. This puts more weight to the rear of the vehicle where it is needed and also allows the front axle to clear the front of the engine under full axle compression.  The steering has also been upgraded to use a new steering box for the newer wranglers which helps the vehicle track better. The rear axle was moved back and converted to fit the outboard shocks which helps with road manners.  It rides on New,  old man emu springs with 4" of lift.  After all welding grinding and cutting was done the frame was re-sand blasted and then the entire frame was hot dipped galvanized in a bath of 850 degree molten zinc. This coated the entire frame inside AND out.  It was dipped twice and then quenched in chromium. Basically this frame will never rust.  Also the crappy stamped rear frame member  was replaced with 1/4 box steel and Custom bumper with hitch and back up lights and D ring Clevis was added also 1/4 steel and hot dipped galvanized.

Suspension:
As mentioned all new high quality shocks on all 4 corners, and springs.  It has a TNT customs long arm lift on it again with front and rear stretch. ($5,000 alone). All parts are extremely heavy duty rebuildable, greaseable, and powder coated. It has a bomb proof skid plate as well. This kit is top of the line and required extensive cutting and welding to upgrade to this new suspension which rides great for what it is. All welding was done by a certified nuclear reactor welder.  Also has jks quick sway bar disconnects in front.

The body:
the original body was scrapped and a newer rust free 02 body was put in place. The body was stripped and the underside was professionally sand blasted and then coated upside down with por-15 so it will never rust.  Then the entire tub was rhino lined inside and out with the DuPont Kevlar liner. The good stuff that about $100 a gallon. Then the underside of the tub was covered nearly everywhere with sound deadining mat.  Because of this the jeep is relatively quiet even without carpet inside.  Every bolt was cleaned and coated with never seize so stuck bolts won't be a issue down the road.  The front hood was customized to open like a big rig. The whole front end flips forward and makes working under the hood a breeze.

Interior:
The jeep was driven without carpet for a while but recently put in some black carpet for the winter and looks good. The dash has been updated to the 03+ era with the rotary controls and AC. Also a set of iss-pro ev2 gauges monitor critical vehicle information.  During transformation the entire hvac system was also updated to the newer more efficient 03+ system. It was also gone over and has a new ac evaporator core, fan, heater core etc.  the seats, dash and everything is all 02+

Drivetrain:
Oh yes the real deal, the jeep is moved by a 4 cylinder 4bt cummins diesel that was rebuilt by cummins approximately 20k miles ago.  The engine fires right up every time and runs strong and true. It still has the stock turbo on it which makes about 25 psi of boost.  About a month ago the fuel was finally turned up from the stock setting it has been at since new. These adjustments definitely woke it up but I'm sure there is a lot more power to unlock in this motor.
Doesn't use any oil and coolant is always clean.  Custom extremely heavy duty motor mounts made from 1/2 steel gusseted everywhere and mounted mid motor to distribute the weight evenly. They are also galvanized.

The transmission is a completely rebuilt automatic 700r4 k case (truck version) the tranny was completely gone through and beefed up everywhere it could. It took some tuning but it now works great behind the diesel and is very strong.
The shifter has been swapped out to a custom fitted b&m shifter and looks and works great.
Transfer case was also rebuilt and a slip yoke eliminator kit was installed to accept the new tom woods drive shaft  which connects to the stout ford 8.8 rear axle with disc brakes. The rear axle was recently regeared to a ford racing 4:10 and all new bearings and seals were installed. There is the TNT customs axle truss welded to it with all new spring mounts etc. basically a very strong axle and all new.

Fuel economy:
I currently daily drive this jeep down to Pittsburg daily and average about 25 yes 25 mpg and that's with a lot of stop and go driving.  I would guess highway mpg is over 30mpg cause the motor is hardly working. The jeep goes 65 mph comfortably and will easily do 70+ With no death wobble and lots of power left.

Wheels:
The jeep is rolling on new Mickey Thompson mtz's  33's with new moto metal 17" rims.

So why am I selling this awesome vehicle?  Simply it's not a great kid hauler.  Ive been doing it for about a year now but the kid keeps growing and there's probably more in the future. I know I will kick myself eventually for doing this but it's a necessary evil.

Oh there is also dual batteries with a selector switch in the cab for battery 1 or 2 or both. This way you can run radios or lights or whatever without fear of running the battery to low to start. Or you can turn it to off for a good security system.

The jeep is completely emp bomb (electro magnetic pulse) and taser proof.  So basically no electronic failure will shut this jeep down. It's completely mechanical.

I'm sure there is more but I'm tired of typing. Any questions just ask.

Title is clean and will say a 97 with 180k miles or so, even tho nothing is left on this jeep with those miles on it. Approximately 12,000 miles since project completion.

Vehicle is also listed locally so i reserve the right to end the auction early.

Here's why you shouldn't try to drift a Jeep Cherokee

Tue, Nov 25 2014

This content is hosted by a third party. To view it, please update your privacy preferences. Manage Settings. There are many reasons why an XJ-generation (or really any other) Jeep Cherokee doesn't make for a good drift machine. It's tall, it's four-wheel-drive... it's a Jeep, okay? But someone apparently forgot to tell that to this guy. Uploaded to LiveLeak, this video shows some poor schmuck who took his Cherokee to a (mostly) empty parking lot and tried to drift it. Needless to say, things didn't go quite as he planned, but they probably went exactly as you might have expected. Thankfully, nobody appears to have been hurt. Or at least, we assume so, since the guy apparently survived to put the video up online.

Marchionne says no offers are on the table for Fiat Chrysler

Sun, Sep 3 2017

MONZA, Italy (Reuters) - Fiat Chrysler (FCA) has not received any offer for the company nor is the world's seventh-largest carmaker working on any "big deal", Chief Executive Sergio Marchionne said on Saturday. Speaking on the sidelines of the Italian Formula One Grand Prix, Marchionne said the focus remained on executing the company's business plan to 2018. Asked whether FCA had been approached by someone or whether there was an offer on the table, he simply said: "No." The company's share price jumped to record highs last month after reports of interest for the group or some of its brands from China. China's Great Wall Motor Co Ltd openly said it was interested in FCA, but had not held talks or signed a deal with executives at the Italian-American automaker. The stock move was also helped by expectations that the company might separate from some of its units. Marchionne reiterated on Saturday that FCA was working on a plan to "purify" its portfolio and that units, such as the components businesses, would be separated from the group. He hopes to complete that process by the end of 2018. "There are activities within the group that do not belong to a car manufacturer, for example the components businesses. The group needs to be cleared of those things," he told journalists. Asked whether an announcement could come this year, Marchionne said it was up to the board to decide and that it would next meet at the end of September. He said the time was not right for a spin-off of luxury brand Maserati and premium Alfa Romeo and the two brands needed to become self-sustainable entities first and "have the muscle to stand on their feet, make sufficient cash". "The way we see it now, it's almost impossible, if not impossible, to see a spin-off of Alfa Romeo/Maserati, these are two entities that are immature and in a development phase," he said. "It's the wrong moment, we are not in a condition to do it." He said the concept of separating the two brands from FCA's mass market business made sense and did not rule out this happening in future, but not under his tenure, which lasts until April 2019. "If there is an opportunity in future, it would certainly happen after I'm gone. It won't happen while Marchionne is around," he said.

NYIAS: 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee Trailhawk, ooh-rah!

Tue, Apr 5 2016

I was very happy to see Jeep offer a stand-alone, off-road-oriented model to the Grand Cherokee for 2017, the Trailhawk. This is not the first time for a GC Trailhawk, as they offered a limited run a few years ago to see if there might be a market for such a model. Looks like there is, as there are Trailhawk models for the Cherokee and Renegade, and now the Grand Cherokee as well. Just to be clear here, Jeep has always offered off-road ready packages (tow hooks, one inch more ground clearance, skid plates) for the Grand Cherokee and Cherokee in the past. They were called "Up Country," or more recently, "Off Road" groups. That was all well and good but, at least where I was living, almost impossible to find. Rarely would you ever find one so-equipped on dealer lots. If you ever saw one on the street, most likely the owner special-ordered it. Having said that, now that I'm living by the beach, I am seeing a few Up Country-equipped older Jeeps; not many, but more than I've seen in the past. As to the new Cherokee and Renegade Trailhawks; I'm seeing a bunch of them. It took a little while for the public to discover this trim level, but now I see them everywhere. Must be the orange tow hooks? Speaking of orange tow hooks... I'm not a big fan of them. Tow hooks for sure, orange ones, not so much; same with the matte black hood decal, not a fan. If I were ever to get a Trailhawk, it would be either dark gray or black, as that effectively hides the hood decal. So Jeep has packaged the Trailhawk as a premium model within each respective model line. While I fully understand the thinking, I do wish Jeep would also offer an entry-level off-road model, one with all the Trailhawk off-road goodness, but minus all the visual and luxury fluff. A lot of off-roaders don't want to pay, or can't pay top dollar for stuff they don't want or need. As to a name, how about "Trail," that being Trailhawk minus the "hawk;" or perhaps "Pioneer?" That's an old name from Cherokees of yesteryear. Back then the Pioneer was positioned as a mid-low level model. I think either name would work well for a back-to-basics-off-road-focused Cherokee and/or Renegade. Content it like the current entry-level Sport or mid-level Latitude models, but include the Trailhawk's off-road prowess. The Grand Cherokee should probably pass on that suggestion, as it would run counter to that model's high-end image. Related Video: Image Credit: Jeep Jeep open road
