Awesome Beach Cruiser - 1989 Wrangler - Custom Paint - No Reserve on 2040-cars
Saint Petersburg, Florida, United States
Nothing hidden. This is going to make someone very happy and you can purchase this for far less than what I have into it.
I bought this because it looks great. It starts every time, Drives straight and gets great gas mileage and is a perfect beach cruiser for driving around the surf. The inside needs some updates but you dont drive a Jeep for the comfortable ride. This looks best with the top off...no need to worry about seats getting soaked because they have been replaced with vinyl. I have almost $5000 invested but I found a newer 2006 that I could afford so I purchased it and now I dont need two Jeeps. I was just getting started with some of the upgrades and now I hope someone else will pick this up and turn this back into a new truck. The good - its cheap and its a lot of fun. No frills. Great on gas. Starts every time and since it is a jeep, you can just about fix anything on it with a screwdriver, roll of duct tape and a coat hanger. Awesome custom flame paint job and paint is in fantastic condition. The bad - its 25 years old but very low mileage for a truck this age. ODO works fine and shows 110,000 miles. I do not know why teh AutoCheck says something different. There is some rust that will eventually need to be attended to but it doesnt stop the fun or take away from the looks you get with the top down. The stereo probably would be better if replaced. I have had an offer already and I will not take less than the opening bid. The is NOT a "4" rated Jeep. I would put it in the 12-15 rating. There is NO title problem. There is no ODO problem. All lights, brakes and gauges work fine. It just needs a little interior work but it is still a great buy for fun transportation and a great Jeep find. If you are looking to spend less than $5k and want a great beach ride and a fun car for the Florida sun, it is worth bidding on. If you have any question, feel free to ask. Car is being sold as is. You are welcome to view the car anytime or email me and I will try to answer your questions to the best of my knowledge. Deposit is due 2 days following the end of the auction. I will help make arrangements if you want this to be delivered outside of Florida |

Fiat-based baby Jeep spotted testing in US and Europe
Thu, 03 Oct 2013Details remain scarce, but our spy photographers have managed to capture the upcoming Jeep B-segment crossover for the first time, testing in both the Alps and in the US. Shown here as a cobbled-together Fiat 500L mule, the new Jeep model is expected to arrive for the 2015 model year and act as a replacement for the current Compass and Patriot models.
According to our shooter, the new "baby Jeep" will share a platform with the Fiat 500X, and both models will be built on the same assembly line in Turin, Italy. We can't tell much from these images, but the added length apparent on this 500L mule would seem to dispel the recent speculation that the new entry-level Jeep model would be sized closer to the Ford Fiesta - since the 500L is already considerably larger than the Fiesta. Powertrain options will likely mirror other Fiat/Chrysler collaborative vehicles like the Dodge Dart, but this Jeep will also try to live up to its off-road roots with an optional all-wheel-drive system.
Radical 2016 Jeep Wrangler suggested by job listings?
Fri, 31 May 2013With most inside the industry expecting the next-generation Jeep Wrangler to arrive for the 2016 model year, it makes sense that the automaker would be looking for some choice candidates to to fill program openings as the off-roader goes through its development. A recent ad on Chryslercareers.com suggests to some that the lightweight Wrangler Stitch Concept, revealed just two months ago and shown above, provides some clues about the off-road icon's next iteration.
According to Automotive News, the job descriptions - which don't name the model specifically - hint that the next-generation Wrangler will benefit from a serious diet. The ads appear to seek those familiar with advanced high-strength steels, hinting that lightweight aluminum body panels may appear on the 4x4. In addition, there are suggestions that Jeep may fit the Wrangler replacement with air suspension, as seen on the Ram and Grand Cherokee, to retain ample off-road clearance yet lower that chassis to improve aerodynamics at highway speeds. The job postings reportedly also lend credence to the idea of a diesel Wrangler.
It seems every bit of the next-generation Wrangler is up for review, as it will be the first time this iconic model is redesigned under Fiat ownership. Questions remain whether or not the Jeep will retain its clip-down hood, easy-to-remove door pins and folding front windshield - loyalists expect them, but fuel economy and safety standards may crimp their cases for survival.
Marchionne defends FCA recalls, says Wrangler won't be all-aluminum
Fri, May 22 2015FCA CEO Sergio Marchionne recently received the 2015 Industry Leadership Award from the SAE Foundation. While speaking with the press after the event, the boss discussed his thoughts about some key issues regarding the company's future. One of the big regulatory issues facing FCA at the moment is the upcoming public hearing by the National Highway Traffic Safety into the automaker's handling of 20 recalls. Marchionne has no intention of testifying there, according to The Detroit News. The CEO also thinks that the government regulator is becoming much more aggressive in how it handles safety campaigns, but the Feds aren't necessarily doing a very good job of communicating that. "We need to work with the agency in a very cooperative and open way to make sure that we can meet their requirements for their new stance," he said, according to the newspaper. "We have no option but to comply with their requirements and we will. I have nothing to hide in this process. I just want clear rules." Marchionne also dropped the news that the company has changed its mind about making the next Jeep Wrangler totally from aluminum. "Because of the difference in cost, not just the new material but the actual assembly process, I think we can do almost as well without doing it all-aluminum," he said to The Detroit News. This seemingly opens the door for the model to remain in production in Toledo, OH, but only just a crack. Marchionne says that the new Wrangler would still use a large amount of aluminum, and there are "at least" two sites in contention for the assembly. The company doesn't have too long to make a decision because the model reportedly launches in 2017.
