This jeep turns heads as much as a supermodel. WARNING: Once you drive a V8 powered Wrangler, you will never settle for stock engines again!!!
1998 Jeep Wrangler, 5.3L Chevy Vortec engine with 4L60E transmission. Powertrain is from a 2003 Tahoe with 81k miles. Conversion parts from Novak, the kings of Jeep conversions. Too many mods to list, but here are some:
DANA 44 rear end from '03 Wrangler X (rear disc brakes), POWERTRAX rear locker, CORBEAU seats and harnesses, DAKOTA DIGITAL instruments, SKYJACKER 4" suspension lift, 1' body lift, TERA-FLEX control arms, sway bar system, transfer case linkage, HD radiator (NOVAK) with 3000cfm electric fan, BESTOP top, trunk and rear cargo rack, CEPEK wheels, many more. The entire tub has been coated with truck liner and sound deadening. No A/C, but wiring harness is set up for it. Novak makes an A/C kit for about $1,000.00. This is a unique, fast and powerful Jeep. I constantly get comments about how good it looks or how quick it is. I have had many Jeeps and this one is the best by far. Rides extremely well for a lifted Jeep and was my daily driver for the last 3 years (I travel more than 200 days a year; hence the low mileage).
I bought this Jeep on EBAY Mar, 2009. The seller told me that it had been totaled, but the frame was not bent. I was only home for 15 hours, so didn't have the time to get it checked. I didn't like being lied to about it, so I'm putting it here. The frame was bent, but it has been professionally straightened as part of the conversion. Conversion was completed in May, 2010. This is a RESTORED SALVAGE TITLE Jeep, but you can't tell by looking or driving. All body parts are new except the tub, driver's side door and roll bar. NOTE: Vehicle is OBDII compliant and passes AZ emissions. Aftermarket GM chips work and GM error codes apply.

On Jan-30-13 at 21:39:12 PST, seller added the following information:

I have over $30k invested in this Jeep but need to sell it to finish my next conversion; '79 MGB Ford 302.

2018 Jeep Wrangler to get 8-speed auto

Mon, Nov 24 2014

Remember when the Jeep Wrangler had a three-speed automatic? That wasn't that long ago – as recent as the 2007 redesign – but Chrysler is keen to leave those days behind on the dusty trail. The current model ushered in a four-speed, then a five-speed, but the latest intel indicates that an eight-speed automatic is in the cards. According to a report filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission, and cited by Automotive News, Jeep plans on fitting its eight-speed automatic transmission to the next-generation Wrangler. Chrysler already uses the ZF-sourced slushbox on the Jeep Grand Cherokee, Ram 1500, Chrysler 300, and versions of the Dodge Challenger, Charger and Durango. But according to the SEC filing, the Auburn Hills automaker intends "to use this transmission in all of our rear-wheel-drive vehicles, except for heavy-duty versions of the Ram pick-up truck and the SRT Viper." AN says that Chrysler wanted to slot the transmission straight into the current Wrangler, but it wouldn't fit. Between the transmission and shift to aluminum construction, the next-generation Wrangler promises to deliver a significant reduction in fuel consumption. In correspondence with Autoblog, however, company spokesmen declined to comment on the eight-speed's suitability towards either the current Wrangler or the upcoming one.

Fiesta-sized Jeep coming in 2014

Wed, 03 Jul 2013

We've heard rumors before about a new, baby Jeep to slot below the new-for-2014 Cherokee (pictured) in the automaker's lineup. Now, Edmunds is reporting that the new crossover will arrive sometime in 2014, and will be about the same size as the Ford Fiesta. This currently unnamed vehicle will effectively replace both the Compass and Patriot in the Jeep lineup.
Speaking to Edmunds, Jeep CEO Mike Manley said that the new, small Jeep will be assembled in Italy and marketed globally beginning sometime next year. Manley did not provide many details on the new model, but did say that it will be 4.2-meters (165 inches) long. The Cherokee, by comparison, is 4.6-meters long (181 inches). Furthermore, Edmunds reports that while the new small Jeep will offer diesel power in other markets, there are no plans for an oil-burning version here in the US.
Many other automakers are exploring this smaller crossover segment here in the US. General Motors recently launched the Buick Encore, which is loosely based on the Chevrolet Sonic subcompact's platform. Ford has already launched its Fiesta-based EcoSport in other markets, and has reportedly been pondering the idea of offering it in the US, as well.
