Tailgate was replaced recently and the spare tire carrier was left off. New 33" spare with matching wheel is included. Vehicle was built with factory dual-top option, but only hard top was included when purchased from previous owner. All soft-top mounting brackets are present, though. Hardtop has some scuffing near the driver's side rear. There is some rock rash on four wheel rims and tire sidewalls. Some scuffing on plastic fender flares (see photos)."

Very clean Jeep Wrangler Rubicon hardtop set up for rock crawling Moab, UT, style. Used as daily driver and occasional trail rig. Mechanically very sound. This vehicle performs well on the back roads, freeways, and in the rocks.

Includes all the Rubicon goodies, plus:

  • 1" body lift
  • Rubicon Express 4.5-inch long arm lift kit with tri-link rear-end option
  • Front sway-bar disconnects
  • Front and rear Dana 44 differentials re-geared to 5.13:1 to restore proper ratios and transmission shift points. Lockers engage quickly.
  • 35"x12.5"x15" tires
  • Mickey Thompson 15" alloy wheels
  • 2" cat-back flow-through exhaust
  • Tom Woods CV-joint rear driveshaft (original Rubicon driveshaft is included)
  • XM/CD/MP3/Bluetooth radio
  • Cobra CB radio and FireStik antenna. SWR calibration kit is included
  • BesTop Safari bikini top
  • Soft half-doors and alternate mirror mounts
  • Hardtop garage hoist
  • Removable mud flaps
  • Non-smoker
  • Rear seat and seat belts
  • Interior is very clean
  • All work done by professional mechanics and builders
I purchased this vehicle from its first owner in 2007. At that time it only had the body lift and an inexpensive suspension lift, which was removed when I had the long-arm kit installed.

The vehicle has spent all of its life in the Moab, UT and Grand Junction, CO areas. The body is free of rust, but the underside has some normal oxidation. Most of the mileage is from road use and the vehicle has been kept garaged. While I have done some rock crawling in it (and it's performed very well), I've been fairly conservative with it and the vehicle has not been abused.

The stock front bumper is slightly bent. I considered replacing it, but decided I should let the new owner decide what to put there. The aftermarket rear bumper does not have an integral spare tire carrier, so to prevent fatigue on the new tailgate I did not replace the factory spare tire carrier. A virgin 33" spare with matching wheel is included.

Shipping and Payment: Deposit of $500 is due within 48 hrs of auction close. Final payment must be arranged within seven days of auction close. Buyer will pay shipping costs or will pick up in Moab, UT. Payment must be made by certified check, or cash. Buyer pays all fees. Vehicle will not be released until payment is completed and verified by my bank.

All-in-all, this is a great vehicle for a beginner or an experienced off-roader. All the expensive stuff's done- you just need to add your finishing touches.

AEV Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon

Fri, 28 Feb 2014

After their rented 2007 Hummer H3 failed them during the brutal Rallye Aicha des Gazelles in Morocco, Amy Lerner and her sister Tricia Reina were on a quest to find the most capable production off-roader for their next competition - they chose a 2012 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon. Their next mission was to find a company with the competence to configure it to win. After poring over Internet forums and perusing countless magazines for an outfitter who could meet their demanding requirements, they sent their bright orange JK ("Crush" is the official color) to American Expedition Vehicles (AEV) for some modifications.
The Michigan-based team at AEV kept the Jeep's 3.6-liter V6 and automatic transmission stock, but replaced the hood with a tall AEV Heat Reduction Hood and added an AEV Snorkel Kit for water crossings (it serves double-duty as its raised height helps to keep the air intake out of the kicked-up dust on the trail). Front and rear off-road bumpers were bolted in place, and AEV skid plates were added to provide additional undercarriage protection. A pair of IPF-900 off-road lights improve visibility, while a 10.2-gallon AEV Fuel Caddy (located behind the exterior spare) added some range. The suspension was upgraded with a 3.5-inch lift kit with Bilstein remote reservoir shocks, and 35-inch Falken Wildpeak A/T tires (LT285/70R17) were mounted at all four corners on AEV's beadlock wheels.

Jeep Wrangler's shift to aluminum could see production leave Toledo

Mon, 06 Oct 2014

The Jeep Wrangler may be a timeless design, but sooner or later, time will run out and Chrysler will have to replace it with a newer model more friendly towards the earth it's designed to traverse. That will, it seems, mean a shift to aluminum construction (whether just for the body or for the entire structure) - but what will that mean for the Wrangler's long-time home of Toledo, OH?
According to the latest pronouncements from Fiat Chrysler chief Sergio Marchionne, the shift to an aluminum Wrangler would likely mean moving production out of Toledo. "If the solution is aluminum," Marchionne told Automotive News, "then I think unfortunately Toledo is the wrong place, the wrong setup to try and build a Wrangler, because it requires a complete reconfiguring of the assets that would be cost-prohibitive."
Marchionne also indicated that, were Wrangler production to move elsewhere, it would find another line to take its place in Ohio. "One of the thing that we are dealing with now is what else we do with Toledo that fulfills our commitment to the city and to Ohio. I don't have a doubt that there will be zero impact on head count and employment levels and anything else." Jeep has built the Wrangler in Toledo since World War II, with the exception of six years starting in 1986 when it was built in Brampton, Ontario. The complex dates back to 1910 and currently produces the Wrangler and Cherokee. Past products have included the Wagoneer and Commanche as well as the Dodge Dakota and Nitro.

Jeep gives a trio of customs an encore showing at SEMA

Wed, 05 Nov 2014

While Jeep certainly had some new customs on display at this year's SEMA show, it wasn't afraid to recycle a few that people might have missed from earlier this year. The maker of many beloved off-roaders already displayed the Jeep Cherokee Dakar, Maximum Performance Wrangler and Wrangler Mojo at the 2014 Easter Safari, but they all made it to SEMA for an encore.
Based around the Trailhawk, the Cherokee Dakar (pictured above) imagines an even more off-road-capable version of the crossover. The concept wears a mix of Silver Steel Stain paint with Flame Red graphics and rides on 17-inch wheels wrapped in 33-inch BFGoodrich Mud Terrain tires. To back up the rugged look, the Dakar is fitted with rock rails and skid plates protecting the oil pan, front suspension, fuel tank and other underbody parts. It also sports prototype parts from Jeep Performance Parts, including a lift kit and fender flares.
The Wrangler is one of the paragons of off-roading, and as the name suggests, the Maximum Performance Wrangler concept is meant to be the ultimate example of what it can do. The custom features locking Dana 60 axles front and rear, a 4:1 Rock-Trac transfer case, prototype 4-inch lift kit and 37-inch Mud Terrain tires over beadlock wheels. To stay on the trails well into the night, a bar of LEDs is mounted above the windshield. And finally, the Mopar Blue exterior kind of makes the vehicle look like the world's toughest blueberry.
