 1987 Jeep Wrangler YJ

Engine:  Crate Chevy 350 installed by previous owner.  Edelbrock aluminum intake, Edelbrock 1406 4v carb with electric choke.

Transmission: Chevy turbo 400, 3 speed automatic, B&M floor shifter, auxiliary cooler.

T Case: NP231

Suspension: Spring over axle conversion, TT Fabworks FSJ axle kit used.  1.5" lift leaf springs.  Currently no shocks installed.

Front axle: Dana 44 out of 85 Jeep Grand Wagoneer, Chevy flat top knuckles, Sky Off Road Design passenger high steer arm, Sky off Road Design chevy one ton tie rod draglink kit with 1.5" 0.25" wall dom tubing for drag link.  New ball joints.  3.331 gears, open diff, factory drive flanges.

Rear Axle: AMC20HD out of same 85 Jeep Grand Wagoneer, factory one-piece axle shafts, thick wall tubes, 3.331 gears, lincoln locked.

Wheels & tires:  15x10 aluminum rims, 6 x 5.5 bolt pattern.  38x12.50-15LT Super Swamper TSL's in like new condition, with no rips, tears, holes, plugs, dry rot, etc.

Body: Floor boards were replaced with actual panels, and done properly.  No rust anywhere else on the Jeep.  Body was stripped to bare metal and painted, not show quality by any means, but looks decent.  There are a few runs, etc.  The inside was scrubbed, sanded and bed lined.  All seats are in pretty good condition, with black "Jeep" seat covers over the fronts.  Two rear seats included, one black (matches the front seats) and one grey.

Frame:  One of the cleanest I have seen around here, near perfect condition.

Armor:  I built a Bumper and some rock sliders, not quite poison spyder quality, but pretty decent either way.  The bumper currently is not set up for a winch, but I made it so a winch plate could be added later very easily.

I did not install the Engine, transmission/transfer case into the Jeep.  I do not know how many miles are on any of those components, but the Jeep does run well and I have driven it around my yard in all gears ( transmission and t-case).  The carb could use some adjustments, I think it runs a little rich and the electric choke does not work properly, I do have a manual choke conversion included though.  I just replaced the battery a month or so ago with a new Duralast one.  Oil was just changed, air filter changed.  Axles were disassembled, cleaned and painted before installation, with new gaskets/seals as needed, and fresh 80/90 gear oil.  When stripping the interior out of it, the bolts for the rear seat broke, and I did not finish removing them as of this ad, but two rear seats are included, just not installed.  The seatbelts have not been reinstalled either, I was going to ad onto the cage and install harnesses.  The factory clock is the only factory gauge that works, but aftermarket oil pressure and water temp gauges are installed and work properly.  The windshield is cracked, from top to bottom, on the passenger side.  I do have a good condition windshield that is included to replace it.  I have a set of LED back up lights and a horn included that need to be installed also.  It does have a white hard top in pretty good condition, and green hard doors in pretty good condition included also.  I have more pictures, please send me an email address if you would like more pictures sent to you.

I do have a fair amount of extra parts included, IE: driveshafts, soft tops and hardware, sway bar, half doors color matched to the Jeep, 2 sets of soft uppers one zipper window one sliding window, both in ok shape, bikini top and some other stuff I can't remember right now.  Depending on the sale price, I have a set of 4.88 gears, and a carrier that could be included.

Jeep is listed locally and I reserve the right to end the auction at anytime without prior notice to anyone.  Jeep is for local pick up only, but delivery could possibly be worked out.  Please contact me prior to bidding if you wish to ship.  I reserve the right to cancel any bids, for any reason.  Please contact me with any questions, comments or concerns.  Thank you and happy bidding!

GMC boss wants a Jeep Wrangler rival

Wed, 12 Nov 2014

Challengers come and challengers go, but the Jeep Wrangler continues to push forward even after vehicles like the Toyota FJ Cruiser and the entire Hummer brand have been shut down. Now GMC reportedly wants to take a stab at the quintessential Jeep, as well.
The news comes directly from Buick-GMC vice president Duncan Aldred, speaking with our compatriots over at Edmunds. Although Aldred said there are no plans currently on the table to expand GMC's lineup beyond the current range, "there is plenty of room everywhere in the hierarchy."
That could include a rival to the Wrangler, as well as a flagship luxury SUV positioned above the current Yukon Denali (pictured above). Just when (or for that matter, if) such models might come into fruition remains a big question mark, but it's certainly interesting to see what GM's dedicated truck brand has on the drawing board.

Finding surfing spots in the UK is tough work, even in a Jeep

Sun, 06 Jul 2014

You truly have to love surfing to practice the sport in the United Kingdom. The area isn't exactly teeming with warm beaches full of sunbathers, and absolutely no easy spots to find big waves. To be a UK surfer, you need to be a fearless adventurer, not to mention quite lucky. And driving a Jeep might help, too.
Surfers Oli Adams and Micah Lester are traveling around the British Isles in a Jeep Wrangler Overland trying to find the best surf spots out there. These guys don't fit the laid-back surfer stereotype, but that's because finding waves in the UK is hard work. They say that the waves at some of these spots only exist for about three hours every year when the current and winds are just right.
To find these surf spots, the Jeep's offroad capabilities are paramount. In some areas, as you'll see in the video, there isn't even a beach, just jagged rocks. It would be like the movie Endless Summer, that is, if it could start snowing at any moment. These guys are clearly dedicated to their sport.

Chrysler, Nissan looking into claim that their cars are industry's most hackable

Sun, 10 Aug 2014

A pair of cyber security experts have awarded the ignominious title of most hackable vehicles on American roads to the 2014 Jeep Cherokee, 2014 Infiniti Q50 and 2015 Cadillac Escalade.
Charlie Miller and Chris Valasek are set to release a report at the Black Hat hacking conference in Las Vegas, Automotive News reports. The two men found the Jeep, Caddy and Q50 were easiest to hack based not on actual tests with the vehicles, but a detailed analysis of systems like Bluetooth and wireless internet access - basically, anything that'd allow a hacker to remotely gain access to the vehicle's systems.
Considering this lack of hands-on testing, the pair acknowledge that "most hackable" could be a relative term - they point out that the vehicles may actually be quite secure.
