In the latest, and some might argue greatest yet episode of Car Club USA, we head to Louisiana to throw some dirt at Mudfest. As Louisiana's one and only Mouth of the South puts it, "If you don't mud ride... go to Texas I guess." Joining The Mouth and friendly rivals The Most Hated Mud Sluts, we dive in. Beyond the obvious V8 blasting and tractor-tire spinning, those who know best describe Mudfest as, "Good cooking, good friends, good fun, and a lot of partying." It's a motorsport spectacle unlike any you're likely to find up North or out West, though no less impressive to behold. Jeep Cherokee finally dealer-bound

We had our First Drive of the 2014 Jeep Cherokee last month, but it appears that prospective buyers won't have too much longer to finally get time behind the wheel of the new small Jeep.
Automotive News is reporting that after a two-month delay, Jeep dealers will finally start receiving their first shipments of the new Cherokee, in the next 10 days. A Chrysler spokesperson confirmed to Autoblog that the Cherokee is indeed on its way to Jeep dealers.
According to AN, about 23,000 Cherokees have been built since production commenced back in June, but potential powertrain issues forced Jeep to make adjustments to the Cherokee along the way. Automotive News says that in order to make sure there are no issues with the Cherokee before it reaches customers, it is testing each vehicle after it rolls off the assembly line at a rented test track near the vehicle's Toledo North Assembly Plant.

Dirt Every Day tries to find the best 4x4 for under $4k

If you want to build a cheap truck that can still do dirty deeds off the beaten path, it's best to start with solid axles and a solid V8 engine. That sums up the lessons learned after watching the 2014 Cheap Truck Challenge from the Dirt Every Day video crew, who took to the deserts and surrounding areas near Reno, NV, in an attempt to find the best 4x4 for under $4,000. Fortunately for us, the whole sordid journey was captured on video.
This isn't the first time the boys from DED filmed a Cheap Truck Challenge, and this year's festivities pitted together a 1993 Chevy S10 pickup, a 1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee and a 1975 International truck in a series of challenges ranging from donuts to drag races, with plenty of hill-climbing and rock-crawling action in between. We don't want to spoil all the fun, but suffice it to say one competitor was found to be lacking while the other two performed (mostly) well. See for yourself in the video above.
