Here is your chance to get a good deal on a great classic car that is seeing more demand every day.  It has been in the family for a couple years now, and is my third one of these Wagoneers-but it isnt getting driven, and if you are aware of what not driving a carburetor fed 360 does to it you will know why I am selling it...they need to be driven at least weekly-and I just have too many cars here to do that, so I am selling this one and the truck I have listed.

So here is the good, the bad and the ugly:

The good-
Nearly new tires, probably less than 1k miles on them.
Rebuilt engine added 2 years ago and have receipt for the 1700.00 engine and work to replace it.
New Power Steering pump this past year.
Good strong runner, reliable and heavy duty SUV made of STEEL, not plastic.
Window in back gate works well (Rare)-as do all but the drivers window-more on that in the bad section.
Seats are all leather and UNTORN (Rare).
Glass is all in good shape.
Dash is in good shape
Air conditioning works-not great, but I have never charged it either.
Body is straight and relatively rust free-having been in Texas for a few years now.  Exceptions are rust I will detail in nest section and dented rear quarter that occurred in parking lot last year-bang and run.
Headliner in good shape
Faux wood trim and racks in good shape for their age

The bad-
This one has some body rust, and I have a pic of the worst spot-to restore or stop the rot will take someone with bodywork skills-and that goes with the next item
There is a picture of the quarter with the body damage.  Damned shame the person hit me because the body was ULTRA straight till that happened, other than the rust spot I have a pic of here as well.  Door still shuts and locks, but that quarter needs a pro to work it out.
The 4WD worked reliably for years, then just stopped.  Nothing happens when I hit the switch now, no indicator and no 4WD engage.  I am going to have a local mechanic look at it this week.  I will update listing with diagnosis.
The Drivers window doesnt work-I took the door apart, and its the white nylon toothed strip that draws it up and down broken where it attaches-motor still strong, frame and mechanics all good-just needs that strip replaced and good as new.
Passenger door armrest is off in picture from where I looked at it to compare the window workings-I will put it back on this week.  This door window is perfect.
Power locks are all in need of some WD40 and little care to work well-all work, just not strong enough.
Carpet is in bad shape in a few places as you can see in the pix, but its original and 98% is in good repair.

The ugly-
It needs a wash and detail, the carpets will clean ALOT more, I spent 15 minutes on it with a shopvac is all-and I hope I get more time to clean it and detail it a bit so you can see how good the condition of the interior is.  I will wash the xterior as well, as it looks pretty dull and needs it but its raining here tomorrow and I wanted to get it online to get things started.

Paypal deposit of 500.00 within 24 hours, balance in cashiers check, cash or money order ONLY to pick it up.  I have clear title in hand, and am listing this with a reserve at the same exact amount I paid for it-even thought I have nearly 4k added with the engine and tires I bought.

Watch this listing for updates as I get it cleaner and get the 4WD diagnosed.

Thanks!

Toyota tops Kelley Blue Book's Resale Value Awards

Tue, 27 Nov 2012

Kelley Blue Book announced its annual Best Resale Value Award winners, and we weren't too surprised to see the list dominated by Japanese automakers - mainly Toyota and Honda. KBB hands out the awards based on the projected residual value of mostly all 2013 model year vehicles, and Toyota skated home with a number of awards including 10 of the 22 overall categories and having five of its products in the top 10 for models with best resale value. KBB's Best Resale Value Awards were announced in the same week as the ALG Residual Value Awards, and there were many similarities between both lists, especially when it came to Toyota.
To come up with its winners, KBB measures depreciation over the first five years of ownership, and looks for the cars it expects to hold its value the best after this time; on average, the report says the 2013 model year vehicles will lose 61.8 percent of its value in five years. Of the 22 categories, 15 slots were filled by Toyota, Honda and Nissan products, while the Camaro and Porsche (Cayenne and Panamera) each took home a pair of awards. If Toyota has anything to be upset about in this list of cars, it's that categories for Hybrid/Alternative Energy Car and Electric Vehicle went to the Ford Fusion and Chevrolet Volt, respectively.
The overall top 10 models for the best resale value in 2013 are, in alphabetical order:

Weekly Recap: Matthew McConaughey's star shines brightly for Lincoln

Sat, Jan 3 2015

The commercials were a little strange at first, but the ensuing spoofs were hilarious. And all jokes aside, Matthew McConaughey has made a difference for Lincoln. Advertisements starring the Oscar winner launched in September, and the results have been impressive. The number of customers clicking on Lincoln.com to check out the MKC – the crossover McConaughey pitched – has tripled since the ads began airing, a spokesman told Autoblog. They also generated 4.4 million views on YouTube and spawned parodies by Ellen DeGeneres, Conan O'Brien, South Park and Jim Carrey on Saturday Night Live, which racked up another 15 million views. Most importantly, Lincoln's sales have increased 15 percent through November, helped significantly by the strong launch of the MKC. Without the addition of the MKC, Lincoln's sales would have been essentially flat last year. The MKC has received solid reviews from consumers and the press, though it has had several recalls. "The overwhelming response to the MKC campaign sparked truly great awareness for Lincoln," Andrew Frick, Lincoln group marketing manager, said in a statement. Now Lincoln has launched another round of spots, which kicked off New Year's Day during college football bowl games. This time, McConaughey is hawking the MKZ sedan and its hybrid sibling. The spots, called Diner and Balance, use the same artistic formula as the earlier ads, with McConaughey intoning seriously about the cars in dramatic settings. They were shot over two days in Los Angeles and were directed by Nicolas Winding Refn, a Danish filmmaker who directed the 2011 move, Drive. The ads continue Lincoln's multiyear deal with McConaughey, who has said he's been long been interested in the brand. He starred in the 2011 thriller, The Lincoln Lawyer, as a defense attorney who worked out of a Town Car, though that was before his deal with Lincoln. In one of the earlier ads, McConaughey claims: "I've been driving a Lincoln since long before anybody paid me to drive one. I didn't do it to be cool. I didn't to it to make a statement. I just liked it." That sentiment appears to have worked for the MKC's launch, and with this new advertising blitz, Lincoln hopes it carries over to the MKZ. Gilles defends 2014 Jeep Cherokee design as "very contemporary"

Thu, 28 Feb 2013

Following the forced-hand introduction of the 2014 Jeep Cherokee, there has definitely been a mix of responses revolving around everything from its design to the return of the legendary nameplate. As evidence of this, just check out the 1,000+ comments in our article last week and some of the many opinions that were voiced. Following this not-too-warm reception, Ward's Auto had a chance to talk to Chrysler designer chief - and SRT president - Ralph Gilles, who shed a little more light on the styling direction of the new Cherokee.
Rather than looking to previous models for inspiration, Gilles says that the Cherokee has been designed to be more contemporary, with Mark Allen, head of Jeep design, adding that a main goal was to make sure the design still looks modern five years from now. Interestingly, Gilles does point out that one of the design elements incorporated on the new Cherokee that pays homage to past Jeeps is the sharply downward angle for the leading edge of the beltline, which he notes is meant to mimic the look of the old YJ and TJ Wrangler models fitted with half doors. Of course, the squared-off wheel openings - a signature Jeep cue - are still used.
This is probably a design that will need to be seen on the street in actual daylight to properly assess, but in the meantime, we'll bring you full images and impressions when the Cherokee debuts at next month's New York Auto Show.
