1989-1991's are clearly the best. Please read the following (and more on mine below)...
"The 1987-1991 model years "are considered the best of the breed" due to a number of upgrades. These include upgraded wood siding and modernized aluminum wheels that lost their gold colored inlays in favor of gunmetal grey metallic. All exterior colors were now applied in a two stage base/clearcoat system.
Finally, a number of further improvements were made for the 1989-1991 model year series including a quality replacement for the earlier, leak-prone air conditioning compressor, the addition of the visually identifiable rear wiper assembly, as well as a general improvement in fit and finish. An interior overhead console, taken from Chrysler's popular minivans, was also added. This functional console featured much brighter map lights, an outside temperature sensor and compass, and an infrared remote-controlled key-less entry system.
The last model years also featured new paint colors. These "new" colors included the rare Hunter Green metallic that was only available in the 1991 model year and is the paint color of the 91 Grand Wagoneer in the Chrysler museum, as well as the color of the very last Grand Wagoneer ever made, which was a significant part of the historic collection at the National Automobile museum."
And here we go...
This one is a beautiful, fastidiously maintained, stock and original, rust-free, mechanically and cosmetically excellent, freeway-driven, Southern California (1989-2010) 1989 Jeep Grand Wagoneer. It's the most desirable version of the longest production run automobile ever built in the United States (1963-1991). I'm selling it for a Waggy enthusiast acquaintance of mine (I'm the Ebay go-to guy among my circle of friends). He bought it for his wife in early 2010 and brought it to the dry, desert climate of St. George, Utah (about 100 miles north of Las Vegas). His plan was to keep it forever. Alas, plans change so he asked me to sell it for him.
It runs and drives quite perfectly by my standards. And I'm a hard-core car guy (who has owned Lexus, Cadillac and Range Rover SUV's among many others) who finds it hard to believe a vintage platform like this could be engineered to be so civilized. It's very comfortable and easy to drive in town and on the freeway (not too big and not too small). She's very tight and handles bumps and turns very well. I wouldn't hesitate to go on a cross-country road-trip today.
Please look at the pictures carefully and ask me to send you the almost 200 I have on my computer. They tell a story about every nook and cranny on this exceptional Southern California beauty much better than I ever could. The TLC this one has received in it's almost quarter century and wonderfully original, well-preserved nature will be more than evident.
Below are all the need/want-to-know's...
Zero Accident or Damage History
Always Garage Kept
New Alternator
New Radiator
New Battery
Goodyear Wrangler Tires with less than 5000 Miles
Cold Air Conditioning Already Converted to R134A
Runs Very Cool in 100 Plus Degree Weather with AC on
Still has the Retractable Cargo Cover
Everything Works Except Speedo/Odo (apparently a $20 part; it failed in April 2012) and Driver Side Electric Mirror Switch
It has also been intelligently upgraded (easily reversible) in several areas to improve driveability/reliability/appearance...
JVC Stereo with IPod Attachment Wired Through Glovebox (and it still even has all 4 original Accusound by JENSEN speakers!)
Holley Electric Fuel Pump
JEGS Dual Electric Fans with 2600CFM and Manual Switch
Manual 4WD Selector in place of troublesome vacuum-operated unit
Older, High-Quality Respray in Original Burgundy Metallic
These are the ONLY deviations from stock and enhance its utility as a reliable, practical, daily driver.
This is an impressive example of modern-day, classic, Detroit Iron. The pictures, condition (both cosmetically and mechanically), and lineage are that of a vehicle with much less than half the miles. And that's how freeway miles are; studies have shown they are virtually wear-free. They are certainly better from a usability standpoint than allowing a car to sit and languish for years, undriven. Personally, I like to drive automobiles that are actually appreciating in value. You may want to check out www.wagonmaster.com to see what the high-end of the Grand Wagoneer market looks like. Hard to believe they sell for $40K plus.
My name is Chris and I would be delighted to answer any and all your questions. Please call me at 435-669-1470. Plus, send me your non-Ebay email address so I can send you all my pics. They tell a great story. Again, I am located in the dry, desert community of St. George, Utah (about 100 miles north of Las Vegas). You may want to consider flying in and driving home. I would be happy to help facilitate that. Thank you very much for your interest.

Jeep celebrates with 75th anniversary editions [w/video]
Thu, Jan 7 2016Jeep is celebrating its 75th anniversary this year. That's one heck of a milestone, and it's celebrating with a special edition. Not just one special edition, either. The all-American off-road brand has wheeled out six – one for each model in its lineup. Though the specifications for each of these 75th Anniversary Edition specials differs from model to model, they each feature an available green paintjob, wheels in a low-gloss bronze finish, orange trim, interiors upholstered in a unique mesh fabric, and (of course) special badges inside and out. They also each feature some manner of open-air aperture, from the fully convertible roof on the Wrangler through the fabric roof panel on the Renegade to the more conventional power sunroofs on the Cherokee, Grand Cherokee, Compass, and Patriot. The shades of green paint depend on the model. The Compass, Patriot, Cherokee, and Grand Cherokee offer Recon Green, the Renegade a brighter Jungle Green, and the Wrangler and Wrangler Unlimited can be had in Sarge Green. If you don't dig the verde approach, you can still order yours up in a different color. The Wrangler special naturally comes the most prepared for off-road duty, packed with rock-crawling equipment like Dana axles with a choice of axle ratios. For more details, you'll want to delve into the press release below, and for a closer look you can scope them out in the accompanying image gallery and video footage. The 75th Anniversary editions are set to hit dealers within the next few months, with prices starting at $22,475 (plus $995 destination) for the Patriot. This content is hosted by a third party. 2014 Jeep Cherokee musters 22 MPG city, 31 highway
Thu, 05 Sep 2013Production and media drive delays included, there has been no lack of press surrounding the 2014 Jeep Cherokee. With the most recent delay reportedly due to powertrain calibrations, we've been waiting to see how the Cherokee's fuel economy looks against the highly competitive compact CUV segment. Thanks to the EPA, we now know the fuel economy figures for the newest member of the Jeep family.
Arguably, the Cherokee has the most modern powertrain in its class with an updated base engine, all-new V6 and all-new nine-speed automatic transmission, but its fuel economy figures are simply on par for the segment. Still nothing to scoff at, though. According to fueleconomy.gov, front-wheel-drive Cherokee models with the base four-cylinder mill will top out the lineup with 22 miles per gallon in the city and 31 mpg on the highway; opting for four-wheel drive with this engine drops the figures to 21 city and 28 highway. Get even crazier with the option list, and the new 3.2-liter Pentastar V6 will get you 19 mpg city and 28 mpg highway in two-wheel-drive form or 19 city and 27 highway for 4WD.
If you're wondering how that stacks up among compact CUVs, head on over to Automobile Magazine for a full fuel economy breakdown for the segment. The controversially styled crossover hits dealers this month, and we'll be driving it in just a couple of weeks.
Marchionne defends FCA recalls, says Wrangler won't be all-aluminum
Fri, May 22 2015FCA CEO Sergio Marchionne recently received the 2015 Industry Leadership Award from the SAE Foundation. While speaking with the press after the event, the boss discussed his thoughts about some key issues regarding the company's future. One of the big regulatory issues facing FCA at the moment is the upcoming public hearing by the National Highway Traffic Safety into the automaker's handling of 20 recalls. Marchionne has no intention of testifying there, according to The Detroit News. The CEO also thinks that the government regulator is becoming much more aggressive in how it handles safety campaigns, but the Feds aren't necessarily doing a very good job of communicating that. "We need to work with the agency in a very cooperative and open way to make sure that we can meet their requirements for their new stance," he said, according to the newspaper. "We have no option but to comply with their requirements and we will. I have nothing to hide in this process. I just want clear rules." Marchionne also dropped the news that the company has changed its mind about making the next Jeep Wrangler totally from aluminum. "Because of the difference in cost, not just the new material but the actual assembly process, I think we can do almost as well without doing it all-aluminum," he said to The Detroit News. This seemingly opens the door for the model to remain in production in Toledo, OH, but only just a crack. Marchionne says that the new Wrangler would still use a large amount of aluminum, and there are "at least" two sites in contention for the assembly. The company doesn't have too long to make a decision because the model reportedly launches in 2017.
