1988 Jeep Grand Wagoneer with 82k low, original, southern miles.  The Jeep runs outstanding.  Stars right up with no hesitation and idles smoothly. Doesn't run hot and has good compression.  Transmission shifts smoothly.  4wd operates as it should in both high and low ranges.  Has a couple of bad window regulators including the rear one.  Not a rust bucket, but does have a couple of minor areas to be address to be perfect (see pics).  Frame looks good, floors too, just some surface rust on the gas tank cover (typical and easy to fix with rust inhibitor).  Wanted to finish this to make it perfect but ran out of time.  Body has a couple of dents to fix (see pics), rockers could use a little work too.  Again, this is not a $40,000 Wagonmaster ride, so if you are expecting that please dont bid.  This is a great running Jeep that could use some minor things done but turns heads and is ready to drive now.  Please inspect or have it inspected prior to bidding, I will be glad to facilitate your mechanic or agent to look the car over.  1JCNJ15U2JT001363 is the vin#, no accidents and the miles are correct and verified.  Reserve the right to end the auction should it sell locally first.  My reserve is more than fair, this is a bargin so call and I may just end it.  $500 paypal deposit due within 48 hours of auctions end, balance to be paid in full within 7 days of auctions end, no exceptions.  Ask your questions prior to bidding if you are not sure, I am here to help.  Call 828-243-2791.  Shipping is the responsibility of the winning bidder, but I will meet your shipper within 15 miles of Asheville, NC if you choose to go that route.

2018 Jeep Wrangler to get 8-speed auto

Mon, Nov 24 2014

Remember when the Jeep Wrangler had a three-speed automatic? That wasn't that long ago – as recent as the 2007 redesign – but Chrysler is keen to leave those days behind on the dusty trail. The current model ushered in a four-speed, then a five-speed, but the latest intel indicates that an eight-speed automatic is in the cards. According to a report filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission, and cited by Automotive News, Jeep plans on fitting its eight-speed automatic transmission to the next-generation Wrangler. Chrysler already uses the ZF-sourced slushbox on the Jeep Grand Cherokee, Ram 1500, Chrysler 300, and versions of the Dodge Challenger, Charger and Durango. But according to the SEC filing, the Auburn Hills automaker intends "to use this transmission in all of our rear-wheel-drive vehicles, except for heavy-duty versions of the Ram pick-up truck and the SRT Viper." AN says that Chrysler wanted to slot the transmission straight into the current Wrangler, but it wouldn't fit. Between the transmission and shift to aluminum construction, the next-generation Wrangler promises to deliver a significant reduction in fuel consumption. In correspondence with Autoblog, however, company spokesmen declined to comment on the eight-speed's suitability towards either the current Wrangler or the upcoming one.

Jeep hiring 1,000 part-time workers in Toledo on Wrangler, Cherokee demand

Wed, 12 Mar 2014

The new Jeep Cherokee has been quite a success for Chrysler, but its factory workers are getting tired. The automaker has agreed to hire up to 1,000 part-time, temporary employees at its Toledo Assembly Complex where the CUV and Wrangler are built. It will allow the company to keep Jeep production moving, while giving laborers a break.
According to plant manager Chuck Padden in the Toledo Blade, full-time workers are regularly taking on 60 hours a week, and it's beginning to wear on them. "To get them more time off is important to us, to make sure they're refreshed, and can work safely," said Padden.
Chrysler has already hired 380 temporary, part-time workers for the plant, and 50 have been converted to full-time employees. The company is in the process of interviewing the rest of the new hires now and plans to have all 1,000 in place by the summer. They will work between 10 and 30 hours a week mostly on weekends for $15.78 per hour with limited benefits. The temporary positions will last "as long as demand continues for the Jeep Wrangler and the Jeep Cherokee," said Jodi Tinson, Chrysler spokesperson for manufacturing and labor communications, to Autoblog in an email.

Chrysler recalling hundreds of thousands of Jeep Grand Cherokee and Commander SUVs

Wed, 23 Jul 2014

The public might associated ignition switch recalls with General Motors - and with good cause - but that's not the only automaker calling its vehicles back in to fix that sort of issue.
Last month we reported that the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration was investigating an array of Chrysler Group vehicles for electrical-related safety issues. The administration and Chrysler subsequently issued a recall for 700,000 Dodge Journey crossovers, Dodge Grand Caravan minivans and Chrysler Town & Country minivans. But while the Jeeps that were also under investigation were not covered in that recall, they are being addressed in a separate one now.
Although Chrysler reports that it is only aware of a single accident stemming from this issue, it is "committing now to conduct a recall out of an abundance of caution." The recall affects the 2006-2007 Jeep Commander and 2005-2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee, of which it reports there are 792,300 on the road: 649,900 in the United States, 28,800 in Canada, 12,800 in Mexico and a further 100,800 outside of North America.
