We have up for sale today a clean and only two owner American icon with very low miles. There were only 14,117 Grand Wagoneers built for 1988. This iconic Wagoneer was only driven less than an average of 5000 miles a yr in the last 25 years. This truck is beautiful but not perfect and ready to go to another new owner. I will be selling all of my Grand Wagoneers in the next few months. The Wagoneer has always been known as the gold standard of the SUV market. Forbes Magazine recommends these trucks as one of their top 50 investments. Some might wonder why. The answer is only the fortunate ones were able to afford these beautiful pieces of art when new. This particular truck had a $28,803 sticker price when new in 1988 which equates out to $69,897 in 2014 according to the U.S. Dept of Labor and Earnings. There is no other ride like a Grand Wagoneer in the SUV marketplace. While this truck is not a museum piece, it is a beautiful piece for the collector or Jeep fan. Remember Jeep was the founder of the modern SUV. The Jeep Wagoneer is an iconic sports utility vehicle (SUV) launched by Kaiser-Jeep back in 1963. While many of us think Wrangler when we hear Jeep, the older generations had a very different image. When Jeep, then owned by American Motors, introduced the Cherokee in 1974, they did so as the less expensive, entry-level counterpart to the Wagoneer. In 1984 the Wagoneer became the Grand Wagoneer, to differentiate it from the Wagoneer with the all-new Cherokee body. Unfortunately, for fans of the line, at some point in 1991, the Grand Wagoneer became a luxury item, then indistinguishable from the modern Grand Cherokee, and then finally ceased all together in 1993 when no one wanted the smaller Grand Wagoneer. The Grand Wagoneer enjoyed one of the longest production runs of any vehicle. The powerful V8 engine and high towing capacity made the Grand Wagoneer popular among its many repeat buyers, and as of 1991, it was the longest domestically produced vehicle (29 years) on the same platform. The 1987-1991 models years "are considered the best of the breed and still have a loyal following among a select group".
Ok now to the details of this beauty:
Paint on the truck is brand new only three weeks old hasn't even been buffed yet, it will only look even better after buffing. It was repainted with the original Dover Grey Metallic, which is a truly beautiful paint in the sunlight, with all of the metallic shimmering. All the metallic colors are the same as if AMC had mixed the paint. All the wood paneling is new with only a couple small imperfections in the trim some warpage. There are a lot of Wagoneers on here for sale with redone wood-grain sides, but they are all too yellow or too red. This is your chance to buy one with the correct wood grain coloring thanks to the folks over at Teamgrandwagoneer. Along with the paint all the stainless trim was polished to a high shine as it was when new. This Wagoneer still retains the factory Marchal 850GT fog lamps, which are getting very hard to find especially in this condition.
The interior is all original as it was shipped other than speaker replacement. The original carpet is the ultra plush which is no longer available for sale. Lots of aftermarket companies sell stock carpet kits but they aren't anywhere close to stock. Therefore with minor imperfections in the cargo area and tailgate it looks better than what the aftermarket has to offer. Truck still retains the stock radio. The Jensen speakers were replaced with new speakers. No, this is not a booming stereo but it was never meant to be. The cordovan leather interior is in great shape and all original to the truck. There are no rips or tears in any of the seats. The Jeep will need a new headliner.
As far as under the hood it retains mostly all the factory parts. Has just had a complete tune-up which includes carburetor rebuild, plugs, wires, cap, rotor, air filter, fuel filter, oil filter, new Valvoline Maxlife 10-30 oil. New Amsoil transmission fluid and new filter. Both differentials have new Amsoil 75-90w severe gear oil. This truck was prepared for a possible long trip. All vacuum hoses that appeared dry or brittle where changed at the same time. This one includes all the factory emissions, most of these trucks for sale have had these removed. It's cheaper to tear out all the old emission stuff but not on this one it was replaced. This truck has spent its entire life in Virginia and North Carolina so it has never been exposed to huge amounts of road salt and sand. Truck has four brand new shocks. Tires on the truck have 90 percent tread and are the proper whitewalls. All grease fittings under the truck has been greased.
So a list of work done in last two months:
Paint, 3 base coat, 4 clear coat
Window wipes
Carb rebuilt Spark plugs, wires, cap, rotor
Rear window motor
All new fluids
New Mopar window regulators in all windows.
This fine example of a Wagoneer is available for viewing and inspection at anytime. Is this a brand new Jeep? NO. Is this a piece of American history? Most definitely. It is 95 percent original and one of the cleanest close to originals left.  This is a very nice truck and deserves a good home. If you want a better truck go to Grandwagoneer.com and look at his trucks. Oh wait Norberts are priced between 80k and 175k. But wait then there is Leon at Wagonmasters.com. His are only currently price 38k to 120k. Both guys have nice nice trucks but this is a nice Grand Wagoneer too. Please if any questions feel free to ask. If you look at the last pictures they are of the other Grand Wagoneers I have sold on eBay. We take pride in our Jeeps as if they were all Ferraris.

Auto Mergers and Acquisitions: Suicide or salvation?

Tue, Sep 8 2015

We love the Moses figure. A savior riding in from stage right with the ideas, the smarts, and the scrappiness to put things right. Alan Mullaly. Carroll Shelby. Lee Iacocca. Andrew Carnegie. Steve Jobs. Elon Musk. Bart Simpson. Sergio Marchionne does not likely view himself with Moses-like optics, but the CEO of Fiat Chrysler Automobiles recently gave a remarkable, perhaps prophetic interview with Automotive News about his interest and the inevitability of merging with a potential automotive partner like General Motors. Marchionne has been overtly public about his notion that GM must merge with FCA. For a bit of context, GM sold 9.9 million vehicles in 2014, posting $2.8 billion in net income, while FCA sold 4.75 million units and earned $2.4 billion in net income, painting a very rosy FCA earnings-to-sales picture. But that's not the entire picture. Most people in the auto industry still remember the trainwreck that was the DaimlerChrysler "merger" written in what turned out to be sand in 1998. It proved to be a master class in how not to fuse two companies, two cultures, two continents, and two management teams. Oh, it worked for the two individuals at both helms pre-merger. They got silly rich. And the industry itself was in a misty romance at the time with mergers and acquisitions. BMW bought Rolls-Royce. Volkswagen Group bought Bentley, Bugatti, and Lamborghini, putting all three brands into their rightful place in both products and positioning. No marriages there, so no false pretense. Finally, Nissan and Renault got married in 1999. A successful marriage requires several rare elements in this atmosphere of gas fumes and power lust. But a successful marriage requires several rare elements in this atmosphere of gas fumes and power lust, the principle part being honesty. Daimler and Chrysler lied to each other. The heads of each unit, the product planners, and finance all presented their then-current and long-range forecasts to each other with less-than-forthright accuracy. Daimler was the far greater equal and no one from the Chrysler side enjoyed that. The cultures were entirely different, too, and little was done to bridge that gap. Which brings me back to the present overtures by Marchionne to GM. "There are varying degrees of hugs," Marchionne stated in the Automotive News piece. "I can hug you nicely, I can hug you tightly, I can hug you like a bear, I can really hug you." Seriously?

2022 New York Auto Show Roundup | All the reveals, reviews, pictures

Fri, Apr 15 2022

NEW YORK — In case you missed it, the New York Auto Show took place this year after being canceled in both 2020 and 2021 due to Covid. A lot of manufacturers showed up in force, but not everybody did. No matter, we were there, and we brought you news, photos and scoops from the floor throughout the show. All of our New York-related stories can be found at our central hub here, but if youÂ’d rather just get a small taste of everything in a quick and digestible format, keep scrolling. 2023 Kia Telluride and its new X-Pro trim Kia revealed the TellurideÂ’s first major refresh at New York, and it makes the three-row crossover a little bit more desirable without screwing up what we liked about it before. ThereÂ’s a new X-Line and X-Pro trim for someone who might want a little more off-road capability, and a number of tech improvements. Most notably, a newly-designed dash features new and bigger screens. 2023 Hyundai Palisade The TellurideÂ’s sister car from Hyundai was treated to a similar refresh. Like the Telluride, Hyundai gave the Palisade a slightly revised look, a new off-road trim (called XRT in the PalisadeÂ’s case), more tech inside and a new dash design with full-width air vents. If we had to choose, weÂ’re a little more impressed with the TellurideÂ’s refresh, as a number of us on staff actually prefer the pre-refresh Palisade styling over the new one. 2023 Jeep Wagoneer L and Grand Wagoneer L This one was inevitable. Jeep revealed the longer, roomier versions of its Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer in New York, and theyÂ’re designated with an “L” at the end of their names. Total length grows by a foot, and the wheelbase goes up by 7 inches versus the standard Wagoneer models. Jeep has essentially allocated all this extra room to the cargo area, as it now offers a staggering 44.2 cubic-feet of space behind the third row. Besides the L, Jeep announced that its new Hurricane inline-six engine would find its first home in the Wagoneer. Efficiency gets a small boost, and power is more than sufficient at either 420 horsepower (standard output) or 510 horsepower (high-output version) from the twin-turbo I-6. Chrysler Airflow Graphite Concept The Stellantis party continues with Chrysler and its slightly revised Airflow. Re-styled for the New York market after initially debuting at CES in Las Vegas, the Airflow Concept gets new paint, changed accent colors, a slightly changed interior design and a new interpretation of the Chrysler logo.
