Here is what doesn't work (not all inclusive): driver side window, automatic mirrors, air conditioning, rear window and mechanics are missing, 1 ac vent on interior missing, rust on rear quarters and under rear doors, needs rubber seals on glass, interior seats are torn and ripped, carpet is stained, fuel gauge doesn't work, speakers broken, dents on rear door, hood, and door, etc., headliner has been ripped out, there are seatbelts missing in rear, cracked windshield, etc."

This vehicle is a project I started approximately 2 years ago. I have replaced/refurbished all of the following over the last two years: Wheels (all 4 refurbished), Tires (4 brand new as of September 2013), Front Rotors (new), Front Brake Calipers (new), Front Brake Pads (new), Rear Drums (new), Rear Brake Cylinders (new), Rear Brake Pads, Axle Bearings (new), Leaf Springs (4 new), Shocks (new), Transmission (rebuilt by Jeep dealer), Neutral Safety Switch (new), Back Up Switch (new), Engine taken apart and all parts replaced that needed it and seals changed by Jeep dealer, timing chain (new), oil pan seals, Gas Tank Shield (new), Spark Plugs (new), Distributor / Rotor (new), Radiator (rebuilt), Radiator Hoses (new), Carburetor (new), Starter (new), Solenoid (new), Muffler (new), Custom Dual Exhaust (new), and probably more.  With all of these new parts, it runs good / strong.  4 Wheel drive works well, and the engine sounds great with the new dual exhaust.  The frame has one small spot that requires a plate weld since the previous gas shield rusted nearby (see photo and very common problem on these vehicles).  I stopped the rust and replaced the gas shield.  The frame has been wire brushed, painted and coated with rubber underneath.  Floorboard is in good shape with no known holes.  I also have a full set of wood trim that will come with this vehicle.  The mechanics are solid on the car and requires body work / interior work.  Once completed, you will have a really nice Jeep! Chrysler, Nissan looking into claim that their cars are industry's most hackable

Sun, 10 Aug 2014

A pair of cyber security experts have awarded the ignominious title of most hackable vehicles on American roads to the 2014 Jeep Cherokee, 2014 Infiniti Q50 and 2015 Cadillac Escalade.
Charlie Miller and Chris Valasek are set to release a report at the Black Hat hacking conference in Las Vegas, Automotive News reports. The two men found the Jeep, Caddy and Q50 were easiest to hack based not on actual tests with the vehicles, but a detailed analysis of systems like Bluetooth and wireless internet access - basically, anything that'd allow a hacker to remotely gain access to the vehicle's systems.
Considering this lack of hands-on testing, the pair acknowledge that "most hackable" could be a relative term - they point out that the vehicles may actually be quite secure.

Chrysler recalls 350k vehicles over ignition switches

Thu, 25 Sep 2014

Chrysler has announced a recall covering 349,442 vehicles due to ignition switches that can either become stuck or move without warning. All of the affected vehicles are from the 2008 model year, and were built before May 12, 2008.
The automaker has learned that ignition keys on some vehicles "may not fully return to the 'ON' position after rotation to the 'START' position during engine-startup," the company said in a statement. Additionally, "an ignition key may not fully return to the 'ON' position after rotation to the 'START' position and may inadvertently move through the 'ON' position to 'ACCESSORY' or 'OFF.'"
Chrysler says it is unaware of any related injuries, and notes that while reduced braking, engine or steering power is possible in such instances, the airbags are not affected. The later stands in contrast to General Motors' recent rash of high-profile recalls, and it's an important distinction that Chrysler (understandably) felt necessary to call out in bold print in its press release.

Total auto recalls already on record pace in 2014

Tue, 08 Apr 2014

If you've noticed that there have been more recalls than usual this year, you may be on to something. According to a report from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the US market is on pace to break a record for recalls. In 2013, 22 million cars were recalled. We're only a third of the way through 2014, though, and we've already halved that figure, with 11 million units recalled. That's wild.
Considering the past few months, it shouldn't be a surprise that General Motors is leading the charge, with six million of the 11 million units recalled coming from one of the General's four brands. Between truck recalls, CUV recalls and the ignition switch recall, 2014 hasn't been a great year for GM.
Other recall leaders include Nissan (one million Sentra and Altima sedans), Honda (900,000 Odyssey minivans), Toyota (over one million units in a few recalls), Volkswagen (150,000 Passat sedans), Chrysler (644,000 Dodge Durango and Jeep Grand Cherokee SUVs) and most recently, Ford (434,000 units, the bulk of which were early Ford Escape CUVs). So while it's been a bad year for GM so far, its competitors aren't doing too well, either.
