For auction is a 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited. It has 20X9 (front) and 20X10 (rear) chrome SRT-8 replica wheels, a B&B 3" exhaust system with center rear exit, front and rear SRT-8 fascia, Eibach lowering springs. Moon roof, video entertainment system, heated front seats, 6 disc CD changer, Leather seats, traction control, 5.7 HEMI, 330HP, all wheel drive. Brakes, struts, shocks are 1 year old. Everything works well. It is very quick and nimble.The Jeep is and has always been smoke free. There are a few chips on the hood and in front of the rear tires. There is a small ding on the driver side door by the handle and the driver side rear wheel is pitted but cleans up well. With all that being said the vehicle is in very good shape. Rear tires have 50% tread and fronts have 35%. Paint is very reflective. Vehicle was just serviced. I drive this vehicle to and from work daily (40 miles each day). Jeepster name may be used for Fiat-based baby Jeep
Tue, 17 Dec 2013In 1948, Willys-Overland, the forbearers of Jeep, built a vehicle called the Jeepster. It was a funky little thing, designed as a mix of the more rugged Jeeps that came before with what was then a modern car, which arguably makes it the world's first crossover. The name was later revived from 1966 to 1972, which means for Jeep enthusiasts, it has some history.
Now, the modern Jeep brand may revive the Jeepster name for a new product, likely based on Fiat bones, that will slot in at the bottom of the brand's range underneath the soon-to-depart Compass and Patriot. The report comes from Australia's Drive, which cites a dealer source that has seen the vehicle.
That same dealer confirmed there is a link between the Jeepster and the rumored Fiat 500X, and that the former will be available in both front and all-wheel-drive variants. The source also claims both gas and diesel engines will be available, although as this is an Aussie site, we shouldn't take that to mean we'll get a diesel Jeepster in the US.
25,000 Jeep Grand Cherokee, Dodge Durango SUVs recalled over brake feel
Mon, 10 Mar 2014Chrysler has announced that it is recalling over 25,000 Jeep Grand Cherokee and Dodge Durango SUVs from several markets over concerns about brake feel under hard braking. The affected models are from the 2012 and 2013 model years, although the actual dates of production aren't available. 18,700 are in the US, while 825 are in Canada, 530 are in Mexico and a further 5,200 outside of North America.
According to a statement, Chrysler was informed of the issue by a component supplier for the Ready Alert Braking system, which primes the brakes in anticipation of an emergency stop. A component in the system was restricting the flow of brake fluid too much.
As Chrysler is quick to point out, the way the brakes functioned was in compliance with regulations and there are no reported cases of drivers losing braking power. Instead, the issue rests with what Chrysler calls a pedal feel that "was not consistent with customer expectations." So it would seem Chrysler is being proactive and fixing a problem not because there's a legal issue at work, but simply because it doesn't feel the way the manufacturer wants it to. Well done.
