1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited 5.9 on 2040-cars
West Orange, New Jersey, United States
I am selling my Jeep because I just don't have space for it anymore. This truck was purchased by me about 7 years ago so I can get to work in the winter, otherwise it sat in the garage. I bought it off the previous owner at 77k miles and he too had it garaged. I have maintained this truck to the fullest extent from day one to now. Most of the maintenance came around 100k for reliability am fuel efficiency only. These things include front to back: Silverstar headlights and fog lights, aluminum radiator and 185 degree thermostat, external trans cooler, Derale deep cooling trans pan, new shift soiliniods x2 (common problem), new atf +4 fluid flush at 110k, royal purple gear fluid in front diff, new steering stabilizer, accel ignition coil, taylor 8mm wires, champion heavy duty truck spark plugs, K&N drop in air filter just cleaned, both O2 sensors replaced, Mopar performance ECU(very rare), Random technologies high flow cat and Gibson mandrel bent exhaust, (sound amazing), Rear diff was rebuild by previous owner and I have royal purple in it also. Transfer case fluid recently changes with ATF+$ and the A/C was profesionally charged in 2011. New Serpintine belt and pullies at 100k.Previous owner also put in a pioneer Sirus radio in the factory dash slot, fits perfect. New brakes and rotors at 100k, all 4 Bilstien HD shocks at 100k, rear gate shocks both window and gate replaced recently. I also changed the plenum gasket and the Throttle position sensor as well, these are common issues as well. I changed the fuel pump also just for reliability at 100k. Oil changes 10w-30 Valvoline or Mobil one high mileage synthetic. Tires are 75-85% Good Year All season Fortera's rotated every oil change. This truck is extremely reliable, clean and drives solid, no check engine lights, no engine sounds, transmission shifts solid and does not miss a beat, and everything works. I usually get average of 15-16 mpg and get as high as 18.5 mpg on the highway and it drives straight as an arrow and smooth even at higher highway speeds.
This winter was the only time I had to take it out of the garage and it sat most of the winter in my driveway. Since It is a rare truck i feel bad leaving it sit and the minimal use I have for it it is time to go. Since It sat there were a few issues I found this spring. One the rear tail gate started to rust on the bottom, no rust anywhere else on the truck but the tailgate. Second the tailgate switch went bad so the lights flicker on and off, this is a common problem and easy fix. Also the windshield seal is going bad so when the snow melted and some water got in the front floor boards. I read this is a common issue also, dried the mats out and it is fine but the windshield will need to come out. It should be replaced anyway because it has a small ship on it as well. I know this truck like all my cars in and out, there is no other known problems with this car at all. I encourage before bidding to please come look at it and drive it if your serious. If you are not local I also encourage you send a independent inspector to review it before bidding. The car is in Long Valley NJ 07953 and can also be in West Orange NJ 07853. Please call me with any questions Vinny 9738098900. |

Mazda2 nets Japan Car of the Year, Cherokee first US model to ever crack top 10
Tue, 14 Oct 2014The 2015 Mazda2 is quite high up on our must-drive list. Yes, the teeny, tiny successor to the 100-horsepower five-door is worth getting excited over, largely because the previous generation was one of the absolute best smiles-per-dollar values on the market.
While we eagerly await for our opportunity to take to the 2's helm, our expectations of the new car have just been heightened thanks to its win in Japan's Car of the Year competition. Called "Demio" in the land of the rising sun, Japanese journalists handed out Mazda's second COTY award since the CX-5 took the title in 2012.
In more surprising news, the new Jeep Cherokee has made the list of 10 Best Cars in Japan. The Jeep's triumph marks the first time an American car has cracked the top ten, finishing eighth. It's not, however, the first Fiat Chrysler vehicle to snag the title, following in the footsteps of the Alfa Romeo Giulietta and Fiat Panda. Still, the fact that an American brand can make such impressive inroads into the traditionally tough-to-crack Japanese market is a seriously big deal.
Marchionne uses racial epithet to describe what must power future Alfa Romeo models
Wed, 16 Jan 2013Sergio Marchionne and his Fiat empire have a lot riding on the US return of the Alfa Romeo brand. The endeavor has been in progress for what feels like a lifetime - certainly for as long as Fiat has had the Chrysler brand under its Italian wing.
It's not surprising that Fiat CEO Marchionne needs a perfect first Alfa to mark a return to America. And here's where things get dicey. Nobody would argue with Marchionne's insistence that Alfa Romeo's be powered by Italian engines - as Marchionne himself is quoted to have said at the 2013 Detroit Auto Show, "There are some things that are well done in Italy."
If not what he said, then, it's how he said it that has eyebrows raised. "I cannot come up with a schlock product, I just won't. I won't put an American engine into that car. With all due respect to my American friends, it needs to be a wop engine." Wait, what's that?
Chrysler recalls small number of 2013-2014 cars and trucks over engine debris
Thu, 12 Dec 2013Chrysler is recalling a small number cars over issues with their 2.4-liter four-cylinder engines. The recall, which affects 522 examples of its 2013 Dodge Avenger and Chrysler 200 models, as well as 2014 Jeep Compass and Patriot CUVs has to do with potential debris in the balance shaft bearings.
The abrasive stuff can cause the oil pressure to drop, which could lead to the engine stalling or outright failure. This situation could at best leave drivers stranded and at worst lead to a crash.
Chrysler will begin notifying owners, who will need to report in to have the balance shaft module replaced. All repairs are naturally free of charge. Scroll down for the bulletin from NHTSA.
