1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo Sport Utility 4-door 4.0l on 2040-cars
Glastonbury, Connecticut, United States
Offering my 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee for sale. I am going to be very transparent about the condition of this vehicle as I have never sold ANYTHING that warranted a negative feedback from my buyers, and don’t want to start now! (Check previous feedback, especially on truck I sold and higher end items) Here is the rundown: I believe this would be a better “parts” vehicle, vs. a “fixer-upper”, but either is possible! In the past 14 months the following has been completed: - New Radiator and hoses - New Catalytic Converter - Newer Battery Body is very good EXCEPT dent and damage to drivers side door (Door latch busted and lower panel has “crunch”, still closes but does not lock-I would count on replacing). Also, paint is peeling on hood and roof. · Interior is very good, expected wear only. · A/C is iffy-recharge? · Heat is weak-t-stat or heater core, or????? · Upgraded newer radio/CD/i-Plug- all works when it wants. No explanation on that! · Motor has almost 200K (Straight 6 known to go 300k) Has been extremely dependable, actually runs pretty great, does NOT purr like new, but it doesn’t rattle the fillings out of your teeth either. (No noticeable knocks are sketchy idling.) · Transmission was replaced a few years back with one that had about 125K on it, actually shifts/runs pretty well. · The 4 wheel drive works BUT something is going on! Very, very fickle when you go from 4 wheel drive to 2 wheel drive. Transfer case and/or linkage? If this helps: it tends to “skip” when making sharp turns and returns to 2 wheel drive when it wants to. · Tires stink! · Brakes: stops the vehicle but they are due, starting to feel mushy. · Glass all good. · Keyless entry and power windows all work (Drivers side door does not lock to to cited damage). · Shocks/struts seem fine · Front end needs alignment (Just due-I believe front end is ok) · Have original owners manual · Clean Title and some paperwork (on repairs) left This has been my primary vehicle for the past two years and she has never failed me. I was one of the few people who made it to work after 2 feet of snowfall, so this vehicle is a true trooper. Again, I would lean toward it now being an outstanding parts vehicle, but she could certainly give another 50K worth of life with some work. PLEASE ASK ANY QUESTIONS-I may have missed something and I want to be sure you know what you are getting! If you look at my reviews I have made “making honest, solid deals” my priority on e-bay, not “making money”. Happy bidding!! |

2014 Jeep Cherokee starting price set at $22,995*
Mon, 10 Jun 2013Love it or hate it, the 2014 Cherokee is on its way to a Jeep showroom near you this fall. Today, Chrysler announced the different trim levels, features and pricing for its new compact utility with a starting price of $22,995 (*not including $995 for destination), which is $400 less than the 2012 Liberty it ostensibly replaces.
Available in four trim levels - Sport, Latitude, Limited and Trailhawk - the new Cherokee will come standard with Chrysler's 2.4-liter Tigershark inline four-cylinder engine with the upper three levels offering the option of the company's 3.2-liter Pentastar V6. The base Sport is your typical entry-level model, featuring equipment including manual cloth seats and black exterior mirrors and door handles, but it also has a five-inch Uconnect media center, LED taillights and 10 standard airbags. Stepping up from the Sport model, Latitude and Limited trims bring increasing levels of luxury starting at $24,495 and $27,995, respectively. All three of these trims are front-wheel drive in standard configuration and offer varying versions of Jeep's Active Drive four-wheel-drive system.
The range-topping $29,495 Cherokee Trailhawk (shown above) comes standard with four-wheel drive and numerous upgrades to earn Jeep's Trail Rated fender badge. These changes include a unique design that adds an off-road suspension with taller ride height giving more aggressive approach and departure angles, underbody skid plates, distinguishing exterior design elements and a seven-inch, reconfigurable instrument gauge cluster similar to what it found in high-trim Dodge Dart models. Scroll down for a full breakdown of the 2014 Cherokee pricing and trim levels, and let us know what you think of the model's pricing and equipment in Comments.
2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee EcoDiesel
Tue, 26 Feb 2013Choose Your Own Adventure... But Choose Wisely
Jeep has got you covered. We can say this without even having to know what it is you want, because there's hardly an option or configuration that you won't find in the 2014 Grand Cherokee. There are three different engines, three different four-wheel-drive systems (plus rear-wheel drive), four different trim levels - not counting SRT - two different suspension setups and five different settings for various off-road terrain conditions. If you happen to check the box for Quadra-Lift, you'll also have five different ride-height settings for the driver-selectable air suspension.
As you might expect with so many customization possibilities, the way a buyer checks the options sheet can have a profound effect on the final product and its capabilities, to say nothing of its price. Nowhere is that more true than with the Grand Cherokee's choice of engines, with the brand-new 3.0-liter EcoDiesel V6 stealing the spotlight from the still excellent gasoline-fueled 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 and 5.7-liter Hemi V8 powerplants that carry over from last year. No matter which engine you choose, though, it will be paired up with Jeep's new standard eight-speed automatic transmission from ZF. This, ladies and gentlemen, is very good news indeed.
2018 Jeep Wrangler to get 8-speed auto
Mon, Nov 24 2014Remember when the Jeep Wrangler had a three-speed automatic? That wasn't that long ago – as recent as the 2007 redesign – but Chrysler is keen to leave those days behind on the dusty trail. The current model ushered in a four-speed, then a five-speed, but the latest intel indicates that an eight-speed automatic is in the cards. According to a report filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission, and cited by Automotive News, Jeep plans on fitting its eight-speed automatic transmission to the next-generation Wrangler. Chrysler already uses the ZF-sourced slushbox on the Jeep Grand Cherokee, Ram 1500, Chrysler 300, and versions of the Dodge Challenger, Charger and Durango. But according to the SEC filing, the Auburn Hills automaker intends "to use this transmission in all of our rear-wheel-drive vehicles, except for heavy-duty versions of the Ram pick-up truck and the SRT Viper." AN says that Chrysler wanted to slot the transmission straight into the current Wrangler, but it wouldn't fit. Between the transmission and shift to aluminum construction, the next-generation Wrangler promises to deliver a significant reduction in fuel consumption. In correspondence with Autoblog, however, company spokesmen declined to comment on the eight-speed's suitability towards either the current Wrangler or the upcoming one.
