2007 Jeep Compass 4x4
My 2007 Jeep Compass has been sitting in my garage for over 4 years now and it continues to just sit there not moving so I have decided to sell it. I am the original owner of this vehicle and I am NOT a dealer if it matters.
I am asking $9,000 for it or make me an offer. If I like your offer I will contact you..
I shall be upfront with what I have noticed since starting the car after 4 years with the new battery.
1. The check engine light is on I don't know why that is. I am thinking it's because the car has been sitting there so long.
2. The jeep runs fine as I took it around the block to warm up the engine etc. Important NOTE: I did notice that once the AC was engaged there seems to be a clicking noise coming from the engine area (Might explain the check engine light). So my advice to you is to have a qualified mechanic look the Jeep over.
3. The jeep has never been in an accident.
4. There is a large scratch on rear passenger side.
5. I AM SELLING THE JEEP AS IS I OFFER ZERO WARRANTIES/NO WARRANTIES.

Jeep Renegade signed by the Rolling Stones brings in $46k for charity

Well, they've both have been around for longer than most of us, they seem just about indestructible, and not long after one shipped out from America to help save Britain, the other lead the British Invasion of America. But the two enduring icons also came together this past summer as one sponsored the other's European tour. And while they were in Rome, Jeep had the members of the legendary rock group sign a new Renegade that just went up for auction. Bearing the signatures of the immortal Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Ronnie Wood and Charlie Watts, this star-studded, pint-sized off-roader – the first Jeep to be built in Italy – sold for an impressive $46,000 to an anonymous bidder. That's about two-and-a-half times what the new pebble-crawler is expected to sell for when it reaches showrooms. Are future vehicular hacks inevitable?
Wed, Jul 29 2015Before the hack of the Uconnect system in a Jeep Cherokee resulted in a 1.4-million vehicle recall, the potential software vulnerabilities in vehicles were already a hot topic with Congressional inquiries and even proposed legislation in the US. As cars' interconnected systems gain the ability to go online, they become open to a host of new threats. Automakers are trying to stop this, but it might be too late to put the genie back into the bottle. Throughout 2015, the issue of software security in vehicles has become increasingly vital. For example, the recent Jeep case wasn't even the biggest hack this year. In February, a major flaw was discovered in the BMW Connected Drive service that allowed researchers to remotely lock and unlock the doors and potentially affected 2.2 million cars. The fix was an over-the-air patch for the problem. Automakers are actively working to fix the issues. Mercedes-Benz, BMW, and Audi reportedly are using encrypted connections and firewalls in their vehicles to prevent hacking. "Absolute, 100-percent safety isn't possible," Daimler spokesperson Benjamin Oberkersch said to Automotive News Europe. "But we develop our systems, tested by internal and external experts, so they're up to date." These vulnerabilities seem to be popping up more often. A successful hack took $14 in parts from Radio Shack in one case. There was also a 60 Minutes report earlier in the year about DARPA's ability to hack into OnStar to take control of a Chevrolet Impala. Experts aren't so sure companies can contend with hackers' advancement. "The difficulty for the carmakers at the moment is the question whether they can keep pace with advances in technology, and especially hacking technology," Rainer Scholz, executive director for telematics consultant EY, said to Automotive News Europe. "We seriously doubt they can." At this point, vehicle hacks are coming more from researchers looking for holes than from those with malicious intent. Still, the vulnerabilities are definitely there. It's up to automakers to keep patching the problems before they become dangerous to drivers.
