1989 Jeep Comanche Mj 4.0l 2wd Long Bed on 2040-cars
Elkton, Maryland, United States
I have up for sale a 1989 Jeep Comanche long bed pickup. It has a 4.0L inline 6, and 2WD AW4 automatic transmission. The truck runs great, and the cab is in pretty good condition, but the bed does have some rust. behind both fenders on the bed sides is rusted through. You really can't tell by looking at it unless you are up close, as the rust hides behind the fender flares. The Jeep has a brand new radiator, radiator hoses, and Flowkooler high flow water pump. When I got it, it overheated really badly, so I replaced the whole cooling system. Since then, I have driven in stop and go traffic, with a full load in the bed, on a 95+ degree day, and had zero issues. This thing really does run like a champ. As with any 4.0, it does leak a little bit of oil, but not bad at all. I believe it is the oil pan gasket, as it does not leak when sitting flat, only when parked on an incline. I bought this to use as a parts runner while working on my XJ, then ended up getting another Comanche as a project, and now this one has to go to free up cash to finish the other one. Please feel free to contact me with any questions or for specific additional pictures. I will post some more pictures of the interior when I have a chance. Thanks for looking, and good luck bidding.
***LOCAL PICK UP ONLY*** ***ZERO FEEDBACK BUYERS PLEASE CONTACT ME BEFORE BIDDING*** *I reserve the right to remove this listing at any time, as this vehicle is also listed for sale locally. |

NHTSA boss Strickland weighs in on Jeep recall fracas
Sat, 15 Jun 2013Adding yet another chapter to the ongoing Jeep recall story, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) head David Strickland has gone on record to defend the government's request that Chrysler recall 2.7 million out-of-production Jeep Grand Cherokee and Jeep Liberty vehicles after the agency investigated fiery rear-end collisions that have reportedly killed at least 51 people over the years. In statements made to The Detroit News, Strickland said, "We felt very strongly that the process that we undertook and the findings that we made and ... we made the decision to issue a recall request. We do not take that very lightly." The top US auto safety regulator stopped short of telling owners to park their cars until the automaker takes action. "They can make their own risk assessment and their own choices," he said.
Chrysler does not intend to recall the models, insisting the "vehicles met and exceeded all applicable requirements of the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards, including FMVSS 301, pertaining to fuel-system integrity" when they were manufactured and sold. "The company does not agree with NHTSA's conclusions and does not intend to recall the vehicles cited in the investigation. The subject vehicles are safe and are not defective," Chrysler announced last week in a statement. "We believe NHTSA's initial conclusions are based on an incomplete analysis of the underlying data, and we are committed to continue working with the agency to resolve this disagreement."
Legally, Chrysler has until June 18 to formally respond to NHTSA's request. If the automaker does not take action, NHTSA is expected to issue a formal finding and seek a recall.
Jeep Wrangler Mojo and Cherokee Dakar teased ahead of Moab Easter Safari
Wed, 02 Apr 2014Jeep has an annual tradition of debuting wild, new concepts during its Easter Jeep Safari, and this year looks to be no different. The automaker has already confirmed two of the six vehicles for 2014 - the Cherokee Dakar (pictured above) and Wrangler Mojo. This year's event runs in Moab, Utah, from April 12-20.
There are no official details about either of the concepts yet - Jeep will release more info on the new models next week. Judging by the pictures, though, the Cherokee Dakar appears to be lifted with some knobby off-road tires. The Wrangler Mojo looks to have a bulging hood that might hide a more powerful engine underneath.
Past vehicles at the Easter Jeep Safari have included a Hemi V8-powered Wrangler, a classically inspired pickup and modernized Jeep Forward Control. Since this is the brand's chance to express itself every year, hopefully it has some more sensational concepts up its sleeve. Scroll down to read the little information that has been revealed about this year's models so far.
2014 North American Car and Truck/Utility of the Year finalists announced [w/poll]
Tue, 10 Dec 2013The 2014 North American International Auto Show is right around the corner, which means it's high time we found out which cars and trucks would be finalists for the prestigious North American Car and Truck/Utility of the Year awards.
The finalists - three in cars and three in three trucks/utilities - are dominated by American brands, with two-thirds of the finalists hailing from either General Motors or Chrysler (don't worry Ford, there's always next year), while outliers from Mazda and Acura can be found in each contest. Here now is the list of finalists for the big prizes:
