Jeep Cj7 1985 Automatic Cj 7 on 2040-cars
Lake Zurich, Illinois, United States
I bought this 1985 Jeep CJ7 V-6 Automatic in 2010 right here on ebay for $6k. My daughter used this as a local commuter car to college and work. She has been out of state for two years and this CJ has only been occasionally driven…it is begging for a new home.
This jeep is 29 years old and so it needs TLC and a loving new owner to keep it going another 30 years.
The previous owner purchased this Jeep from a local school district in 2007 with 23k miles. The district used the Jeep around the property and to plow snow hence the low miles. The gent I bought the CJ from added a new fiberglass tub, replaced the carb, brakes, rotors, brake lines, seats, wheels, tires, he also replaced the tail lights, the soft top and doors , the re-paint looks good from far but is not great, it has a 4" lift. He also added a tow bar for pulling behind his motor home (the tow bar is included). The tub was Rhino lined and there is a heavy duty rear bumper with hitch.
We have sunk another $2k plus into the CJ to keep it going. Our work included a new muffler, radiator and gas tank (the sending unit should be good but the gauge is not working). The other gauges are new and the main dash knobs are new. There is a cheap am/fm stereo with some decent speakers in front/back (an audiophile will want to upgrade the stereo). I’ll include notes from my ASE mechanic on some of the work done and three jeep books (see picture) the Jeep Owner’s Bible and two editions of the Haynes Jeep CJ Repair Manual. There is a Meyer 6' plow with power angle that is included but it’s in rough shape and would need patches welded to make it workable (the pictures don’t show how rough it is). I also need to add some pneumatic fluid to ensure it will raise the plow as it’s not working right now even though the electronics for the plow work. Reserve is set lower than my 2010 cost and the car is listed locally. I will answer questions via ebay and have tried to be very fair with the listing so you know what you are bidding on. This is an as-is sale with no warrantee stated or implied. |

Jeep sets all-time sales record in 2012
Wed, 09 Jan 2013Last year was good to Jeep. Chrysler has announced its trail-rated brand set an all-time global sales record in 2012 by moving 701,626 units. That number easily surpasses the previous record set in 1999 when Jeep sold 675,494 models. All told, the brand saw a 19-percent sales increase worldwide over 2011, and much of that swell can be traced directly to the Wrangler. While the Grand Cherokee led Jeep sales, the Wrangler posted record numbers both globally and within the US, moving 194,142 and 141,669 units in each market, respectively.
Meanwhile, the Compass beat its previous global sales record with 103,321 units rolling off of dealer lots. In the US, Jeep sold 62,010 Patriot units, breaking that model's previous record as well. Jeep's impressive performance in 2012 marks the second year in a row the brand has seen double-digit percentage sales increases. Check out the full press release below.
Mazda2 nets Japan Car of the Year, Cherokee first US model to ever crack top 10
Tue, 14 Oct 2014The 2015 Mazda2 is quite high up on our must-drive list. Yes, the teeny, tiny successor to the 100-horsepower five-door is worth getting excited over, largely because the previous generation was one of the absolute best smiles-per-dollar values on the market.
While we eagerly await for our opportunity to take to the 2's helm, our expectations of the new car have just been heightened thanks to its win in Japan's Car of the Year competition. Called "Demio" in the land of the rising sun, Japanese journalists handed out Mazda's second COTY award since the CX-5 took the title in 2012.
In more surprising news, the new Jeep Cherokee has made the list of 10 Best Cars in Japan. The Jeep's triumph marks the first time an American car has cracked the top ten, finishing eighth. It's not, however, the first Fiat Chrysler vehicle to snag the title, following in the footsteps of the Alfa Romeo Giulietta and Fiat Panda. Still, the fact that an American brand can make such impressive inroads into the traditionally tough-to-crack Japanese market is a seriously big deal.
Chrysler registers Trackhawk trademark
Wed, 01 Oct 2014There may not be many ways to forecast what an automaker is planning for the future, but there are some. Trademark applications are one of them, and Chrysler has just applied with the US Patent and Trademark Office to protect the name "Trackhawk." The question is, what's it planning on using it for? We don't know for sure, but we can put together an educated guess or two. And one guess is that Jeep will use the name to replace the letters SRT on the performance version of the Grand Cherokee.
How do we figure, you ask? From a number of developments. For starters, the SRT division has been reintegrated into the Dodge brand. Those letters currently appear on only two vehicles from outside the Dodge lineup: one is the Grand Cherokee SRT, and the other is the Chrysler 300 SRT. We've heard ruminations (however unconfirmed) that the latter could be either discontinued or possibly relabeled, and if the same proves true of the GC, the Trackhawk name could serve as a on-road performance counterpart to the Trailhawk label applied to off-road versions of models like the Cherokee and Renegade.
Logical it may be, but it's hardly a foregone conclusion. The Trackhawk name could just as easily be used for a new concept (like the Trailhawk name was in 2007), for another kind of trim level or for something else entirely. In fact we don't even know for sure it'll be used by the Jeep brand specifically, or used at all for that matter. Automakers have been known, after all, to register names they don't end up using.
