1986 Jeep CJ7 Renegade. "Frame off" restoration just completed. Mint Mint Mint! Everything on this Jeep is either brand new or completely restored. Tastefully redone... It was painted "Mango Tango" the 2011 Jeep Wrangler color. It sits nice with a brand new 4" suspension lift and brand new 33" tires. Its a 5 speed that has the original 258 inline 6 cylinder engine completely redone with new Weber carb. Fiberglass body and windshield frame. The frame was sanded down and painted with por-15 (a rust preventative). It has new brakes, brake lines and master cylinder. New fuel lines, new radiator, basically everything under the hood is new. The body interior and underside were all painted with "herculiner" as well as the underside of the hood and inner fenders. (yes, i realize fiberglass does not rust... However, it looks much cleaner and I prefer it over carpet). New side and rear bumpers, new fender flares, new rear tail lights, new headlights, new turn signal lights, new interior knobs, new shifter knobs, new shifter boots. All new seats (front and rear). I have the bikini top on it now, but I also have a full soft top and full soft doors as well as the original hard top in good condition and the original full hard doors that are usable but would need to be restored. I never used them as I built the jeep as a toy to cruise around town in the summer and to grab ice cream with the kids. Also, I have a garage so I never needed to install either top. It was finished last September and I've only driven it a handful of times... Probably less than 50 miles since its been finished. It was a father-son project that was a lot of fun to build, but unfortunately I'm one of those people that can't just be happy with what they have. This is a "Bad Ass" Jeep that's not over-done with useless accessories or gaudy decals and it needs to go to a new home.

The Jeep Wrangler is finally getting modern headlights for 2017

Thu, Sep 1 2016

Some of Jeep's headlights leave a lot to be desired – namely light output. In particular, the halogen lamps on the Wrangler and Cherokee have been called out by the IIHS as among the worst on the market. Things should improve for 2017, as Jeep is addressing the sorry illumination by adding LED or HID headlight options for the Wrangler, Cherokee, and Renegade. Thank heavens (or, you know, the IIHS for upping its lighting requirements). In the Wrangler's case, the decision to develop an LED for a single model year of the JK before its replacement arrives – or two if you count the extended run of the current model alongside the new one – might seem strange, but we aren't complaining. The current headlights are one retro cue that sorely needed eradicating, plus this almost guarantees LEDs for the next-gen model. Any 2017 Wrangler can be equipped with the new LED headlights and fog lights – the LED lighting group will be optional on the Sport and Sport S, and standard on Sahara and Rubicon. The Cherokee is a slightly different story – HID headlights are currently optional on that model's Limited and High Altitude trims and standard on the range-topping Overland. Next year, the brighter, more focused lamps will be standard on everything but the base Sport model, where they'll be optional. For the wee Renegade, meanwhile, HIDs are a "late availability" option as part of the safety and security group on Latitude, Limited, and Trailhawk trim levels. If you want a 2017 Renegade Sport with the better lights, though, you're out of luck. Jeep hasn't announced pricing for its 2017 offerings, so we don't know what sort of premium the LED and HID headlamps will add. We just know that whatever the price, it will be worth it. And you can bet each unit will have some sort of Easter egg Jeep design detail on it. FCA inline-six rumored to be real, headed for Jeep Wagoneer

Thu, Dec 20 2018

In September, Allpar reported that that clues being dropped at Fiat- Chrysler headquarters, in the carmaker's factories, and on engineer resumes pointed to the development of an inline six-cylinder engine. The site has just proclaimed the rumor is reality, writing that the straight-six, "turbocharged to meet or beat 5.7 Hemi power ratings, with a smoother torque curve, is on the way." The motor's first outing is expected to be either the next-generation Jeep Grand Cherokee, debuting perhaps next year, or the Jeep Wagoneer, debuting in 2020 or 2021. "Tornado" is the purported codename for the power plant said to be just under three liters in displacement, expanding the family begun with the Global Medium Engine 2.0-liter turbo codenamed Hurricane. Engine bay constraints and a long use horizon mean engineers won't simply add two more cylinders to the GME, however. Allpar says the brief is to keep the Tornado GME-T6 — the alphanumeric for "turbocharged six" — no more than three inches longer than the Tigershark 2.4-liter four-cylinder. That means "major design changes" that could include a space-saving head, more closely spaced cylinders, and no cylinder liners. An FCA division called Comau could be called on for its "SmartSpray" plasma lining technology. Allpar muses that the standard version of the engine for Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, and Ram could get a single twin-scroll turbocharger. Performance trims for Alfa Romeo and Maserati could get different heads and maybe twin turbos, an SRT version might also get both those tweaks. History shows that the Italian versions would make changes to the block, as well. Even so, the Tornado would be less expensive than any Ferrari-supplied V6. A straight-six would put FCA in company with current adopters BMW and Mercedes-Benz, future users like Jaguar, and perhaps Aston Martin. The engine would span the widest range of use cases in the U.S. carmaker's portfolio, though. Potential applications include being a base engine for Ram trucks, serving double duty as a base engine and 5.7-liter Hemi replacement for the Dodge Charger and Challenger, working in the high-end Jeeps, and as a properly hot trim — with Ferrari-designed heads — in the luxury Italian sports cars. The Alfa Romeo Giulia begs for just such motivation to fill the gap between the 280-hp, $42,695 Ti Sport RWD and the 505-hp, $73,700 Giulia Quadrifoglio RWD. And a twin-turbo inline-six in a Maserati Alfieri would stack up nicely with the Germans.
