1986 Jeep Cj-7 Solid, Original From California!!! on 2040-cars
Conshohocken, Pennsylvania, United States
This is an original well-maintained documented California Jeep CJ-7. The previous owner is a known actor who was returning home to New York from Los Angeles, driving the Jeep to Pennsylvania in 2010. I’ve kept it in a garage ever since. Service records include: California (previous owner) 85200: Distributor and Ignition Coil 85322: Valve Cover, Transmission Mounts, Motor Mounts 85515: Borla Exhaust 89500: Brake Master Cylinder 100900: Radiator 101100: Alternator 108408: Ignition Control Module Pennsylvania 110884: General Grabber HTS C Tires, Alignment, Rear Brakes, Full Tune Up, Battery, Carburetor Adjustment and Timing Adjustment 112343: Valve Stem Seals, Starter Motor 114037: Steering Stabilizer, Sway Bar, Sway Bar Link Kit and Heater Core The Jeep starts, runs, and drives like it should. Everything works unless I mention otherwise. I would not hesitate to take it anywhere but I don’t recommend any CJ-7 for a nervous or inexperienced driver. There are no fluid leaks. There are no problems with the clutch or transmission. Factory computer control has been disconnected from carburetor for obvious reasons, but all components left in place if you want to restore. The factory cardboard glove box insert is gone and door does not open easily. The speedometer works but is shaky. The paint appears to be original with some touch-ups and imperfections. There is a hole on either side of the windshield frame from a removed accessory. Paint is faded around sticker decals, which I had removed. See picture. There is no rust. The hard doors are not original to this Jeep but are their correct virgin color. I suspect this Jeep was sold with soft doors only. I only have the bikini top for the Jeep however most accessories are already in place for a Bestop. If you purchase the Jeep and want a Bestop installed (for transport), I will have that done at most reasonable cost to buyer. The radio works but is temperamental. I’m not sure that all speakers are working. The front speakers appear fairly new good speakers and the rear speakers look dated. The Jeep has a current PA state inspection and registration. Clear title in my name is ready for transfer to new owner. It’s becoming hard to find an unmolested and solid CJ-7. Winning bidder must pay a $300.00 non-refundable deposit within 24 hours or I reserve the right to relist. Full payment in 10 days. Jeep cannot be returned and no refunds will be issued once it leaves my possession. |

2013 AEV Brute Double Cab
Fri, 11 Jan 2013These are the guys who bring an M777 howitzer to a knife fight. In terms of overall rugged utility, the all-new 2013 Brute Double Cab from American Expedition Vehicles (AEV) is about as overkill as they come, and we can't seem to get enough of the beasts that this company produces. Unlike most aftermarket firms, always striving to lower cost and increase volume (but at the expense of quality), Michigan-based AEV takes pride in its OEM-quality design, engineering, manufacturing and testing. Everything is as good, or better, than the stuff from the factory, and they have been doing it this way for more than 15 years.
Launched at the recent 2012 SEMA show was the 2013 AEV Brute Double Cab. Its debut marked the company's expansion to a four-door Brute on the newer JK platform (drawing inspiration from the Land Rover Defender 130). I recently spent a few hours with the new truck in sunny Southern California, though unfortunately, due to time constraints, I was limited to pavement-only driving impressions.

Jeep Twitter account hacked, bad language, poor grammar and some hilarity ensue
Tue, 19 Feb 2013Just a day after Burger King's Twitter account was compromised by "unauthorized users," Jeep's social media feed has been similarly hacked. Both instances of digital incursion share some similarities - the BK hackers changed the company's logo for McDonald's familiar golden arches, saying a sale had occurred, while the Jeep miscreants have replaced Jeep's branding with that of General Motors property Cadillac.
The resulting tweets from the damaged Jeep account have been a pretty brutal, to put it bluntly. Most of the content coming from the hacked account is unpublishable here, using language that is peppered with racial epithets, and poorly worded "shout outs."
In addition to the defamatory tweets themselves, the hackers have significantly altered the layout of the page. Jeep's header image now features a picture of the Cadillac ATS to go along with the Wreath and Crest, some language calling out that car as winning the 2013 North American Car of the Year award, and this gem: "The official Twitter handle for the Jeep(R) - Just Empty Every Pocket, Sold To Cadillac =[" Also, perhaps in an ode to yesterday's Burger King heist, the background image for the page now features a McDonald's-themed donk. The devil's in the details, we guess.
Jeep mulling power top for next Wrangler
Fri, 07 Mar 2014Jeep is hard at work on the next-generation Wrangler, though the truck is still a few years from hitting the trails. The new model will still be aimed at off-roaders, but rumors suggest it will be a little more comfortable than previous versions to appeal to more people.
According to Road and Track, Jeep is developing a power-retractable top as an expensive option for the Wrangler. There is no word if the top in question is a sliding canvas rollback like the ones found on many European vehicles or a full convertible hardtop or softtop, nor do we know whether it would be made available on two- or four-door models. It might be a nice feature for some buyers but would certainly add complexity to a truck already known for its ruggedness. We asked Jeep for confirmation, but Jeep spokesperson Todd Goyer could only remind us that the company "can't comment about future products."
In news that is likely to irk the faithful, R&T reports the next model may also ditch its folding windshield for improved safety and possibly even get rid of its rear-mounted, full-size spare tire. The new Wrangler won't go completely soft, though, and will reportedly still feature removable doors and solid axles.
