I START LOOKING IN TO SEVERAL JEEP SPECIALITY SHOPS IN SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA AND AFTER LOOKING AND COMPARING EVERY ONES RESTORATION HISTORY AND QUALITY OF WORK I PICKED " CALIFORNIA JEEP RESTORATIONS " LOCATED IN SAN FERNANDO VALLY , THEY ARE ONE OF THE BEST QUALITY AND WORK MAN SHIP SHOP THAT I EVER WORKED WITH. I AM VERY PICKY AND METICULOUS WITH MY CAR COLLECTION AND THEIR WORK MET MY DETAILED BUILT SPECS. ONCE WE PLANNED THE RESTRO AND FACTORY SPECIFIED COLOR CODES AND CORRECT TRIM AND PACKAGE, FIRST OFF THE BODY CAME OFF THE FRAME AND WORK STARTED WITH A COMPLETE DA TO LOOK FOR ANY BODY FILLING AND PATCH WORK AND SURPRISING ENOUGH THERE WAS NOT A PATCH OF BODY FILL OR RUST ANYWHERE. ONCE THE BODY INSPECTION WAS COMPLETED THE WHOLE TRUCK IN AND OUT AND UNDER WAS SANDED DOWN AND PREPED FOR NEW PAINT, I CHOSE THE OFF WHITE FACTORY COLOR SCEEM TO REPLICATE THE LORAIDO PACKAGE. TO MAKE THIS RESTORATION EVEN MORE COLLECTABLE AND DESIRABLE I DECIDED TO USE ALL FACTORY ORIGINAL PARTS. THERE IS NO AFTER MARKET PART OR TRIM ON THIS TRUCK FROM EXTERIOR TO INTERIOR AND GAGES , TILT STEERING COLUM, EVEN THE RADIO AND FACTORY SPEAKERS , GRAB BAR, DASH PAD, DOOR PANELS, FACTORY LORAIDO SEATS, FACTORY A/C. Toledo gets proactive in fight to keep Jeep Wrangler
Wed, 08 Oct 2014Let's make this very plain - the city of Toledo, OH loves its Jeeps. It loves them so fervently that the very rumor of the Jeep Wrangler moving out of its traditional home prompted the city's mayor, D. Michael Collins, and Ohio Gov. John Kasich to hold a weekend conference call with Chrysler CEO Sergio Marchionne.
"The purpose of this call was for the mayor and governor to gain clarity on Mr. Marchionne's comments last week regarding the possibility of the next generation of Jeep Wrangler being built at a location other than the Toledo North Assembly Plant," a spokesman for the mayor's office told The Toledo Blade.
While no further commitments were made by any party, Collins and Kasich's statement was quite unequivocal about keeping Toledo's unwillingness to let the Wrangler go, saying "the city and its partners will again rise to the occasion to ensure that the new Wrangler is made in Toledo." According to the newspaper, the next step is for face-to-face meetings between officials from Ohio and FCA.
Fiat Chrysler posts record Q3 profit thanks to U.S. trucks and Jeep
Wed, Oct 28 2020MILAN — A rebound in car production in Fiat Chrysler on Wednesday reported record third-quarter earnings as production returned to nearly pre-pandemic levels. The Italian-American automaker, which is finalizing its full merger with French rival PSA Peugeot, reported a net profit in the three months ending Sept. 30 of $1.4 billion (1.2 billion euros). That compares with a loss of 179 million euros a year earlier. The carmaker reported adjusted earnings before tax and interest in North America of 2.5 billion euros. That offset deepening losses in Europe, Asia and at its Maserati luxury marquee. Latin America, the only other region to post a profit, saw it narrow by two-thirds to 46 million euros. “Our record results were driven by our teamÂ’s tremendous performance in North America,” CEO Mike Manley said in a statement. Overall, the carmaker said global earnings before tax and interest were a record 2.3 billion euros despite a 6% fall in revenues to 26 billion euros. Global shipments were down 3%, due largely to plant retooling in North American to produce the new Jeep Grand Wagoneer in the luxury SUV segment and the discontinuation of the Dodge Grand Caravan classic minivan. Fiat Chrysler announced earlier Wednesday that its merger with PSA Peugeot is on track to be finalized by the end of the first quarter of 2021, as planned. To meet regulatory concerns, the French carmaker is selling a small stake in a components maker to get below 40% ownership. Poor headlights cause 40 cars to miss IIHS Top Safety Pick rating
Mon, Aug 6 2018Over the past few months, we've noticed a number of cars and SUVs that have come incredibly close to earning one of the IIHS's highest accolades, the Top Safety Pick rating. They have great crash test scores and solid automatic emergency braking and forward collision warning systems. What trips them up is headlights. That got us wondering, how many vehicles are there that are coming up short because they don't have headlights that meet the organization's criteria for an "Acceptable" or "Good" rating. This is a revision made after 2017, a year in which headlights weren't factored in for this specific award. This is also why why some vehicles, such as the Ford F-150, might have had the award last year, but have lost it for this year. We reached out to someone at IIHS to find out. He responded with the following car models. Depending on how you count, a whopping 40 models crash well enough to receive the rating, but don't get it because their headlights are either "Poor" or "Marginal." We say depending on how you count because the IIHS actual counts truck body styles differently, and the Infiniti Q70 is a special case. Apparently the version of the Q70 that has good headlights doesn't have adequate forward collision prevention technology. And the one that has good forward collision tech doesn't have good enough headlights. We've provided the entire list of vehicles below in alphabetical order. Interestingly, it seems the Volkswagen Group is having the most difficulty providing good headlights with its otherwise safe cars. It had the most models on the list at 9 split between Audi and Volkswagen. GM is next in line with 7 models. It is worth noting again that though these vehicles have subpar headlights and don't quite earn Top Safety Pick awards, that doesn't mean they're unsafe. They all score well enough in crash testing and forward collision prevention that they would get the coveted award if the lights were better.
