Disregard the "Base sport utility" and 4.2liter mentioned in the above description.

Originally commissioned by a local entrepreneur for use at his beachfront property in Mexico.  Built by CW Performance in Longmont, Colo, Carl Wells (RIP) has built some very nice vehicles.  I have receipts for over $100K spent, no nut or bolt has been left untouched.  Only the highest quality pieces were selected for this build.

Engine started lifeas a 1999 Wrangler 4.0 liter.  It was rebuilt and uses fuel injection, a Crane Cam, a larger throttle body and a very gorgeous Hesco aluminum head.  A Borrani header takes care of the exhaust flow.  It runs great.  The clutch is a Centerforce, the trans a rebuilt Borg/Warner T5.  Dual Optima batteries are held in a Wrangler Products battery tray.  An aluminum radiator is cooled by twin electric fans, thermostatically controlled.  Front and rear diffs are 4.56 ratio, the rear an AMC 20 (I believe) with locker, the front equipped with an Ox locker controlled from inside.  Axles are either new or remanufactured as are the driveshafts.  Both diffs feature attractive alloy covers.  Brakes are new and equipped with stainless brake lines.  Suspension is by Fab Tek and Rubicon.  Rubicon express with 4.5" lift and Rubicon extreme duty shock kit.  The wheels are Sertes (the invoice was a little unclear) model 397 and are shod with Goodyear Dura/trac 33/12.50/15 tires, 5 of them.  A Skyjacker transfer case lowering kit is also fitted.  The bumpers are both Warn brand with a rear tire carrier and front winch mount options.  The Warn winch is a Powerplant Dual Force with air compressor built in.  Winch controls are both wired and keyless remote.  A very professional roll cage will keep you unruffled.  All lighting is special, featuring Delta H4 conversions, Hella lights and KC spots.  All running lights are LED and look very cool.  Warn Rock Sliders protect the rocker panels.  A high lift jack is securly mounted above the spare.

The frame has been powder coated, the body or tub has been Rhinolined on the underside as well as the interior.  The Gold color professionally done of course.  The hood, windshield, windshield frame are new.  The instruments are either new or reman and work perfectly.  A Kenwood radio/navigation/dvd is enhanced by an Alpine amp and Boss as well as DC Gold speakers.  The Trailmaster seats are matching, front and rear.  A pilot to co/pilot intercom system is included for when the going gets very exciting.  Headsets with mic's are included.  Tuffy brand center console protects the radio and a dash mounted Tuffy security glovebox protects other valuables.

The Besttop roof and windows as well as doors are only about 3 years old.  The Jeep was finished in 2008 and has about 2800 miles.  I use the term "new" a lot in describing items, in truth everything has been used for 2800 miles.  Other new or reman items I forgot to mention:  steering box, ball joints, tie rod ends, Q Snorkel, poly fuel tank, steering wheel, and much more.

I got the Jeep from the gentleman who commissioned the build.  I would like to move it on to finance my road racing habits.  If you ever wanted to put together an awesome Jeep, here it is.  My name is Jack and I am certainly available to answer your questions.  I have perfect feedback and want to keep it that way.  Good luck and please bid.

Jeep Wrangler's shift to aluminum could see production leave Toledo

Mon, 06 Oct 2014

The Jeep Wrangler may be a timeless design, but sooner or later, time will run out and Chrysler will have to replace it with a newer model more friendly towards the earth it's designed to traverse. That will, it seems, mean a shift to aluminum construction (whether just for the body or for the entire structure) - but what will that mean for the Wrangler's long-time home of Toledo, OH?
According to the latest pronouncements from Fiat Chrysler chief Sergio Marchionne, the shift to an aluminum Wrangler would likely mean moving production out of Toledo. "If the solution is aluminum," Marchionne told Automotive News, "then I think unfortunately Toledo is the wrong place, the wrong setup to try and build a Wrangler, because it requires a complete reconfiguring of the assets that would be cost-prohibitive."
Marchionne also indicated that, were Wrangler production to move elsewhere, it would find another line to take its place in Ohio. "One of the thing that we are dealing with now is what else we do with Toledo that fulfills our commitment to the city and to Ohio. I don't have a doubt that there will be zero impact on head count and employment levels and anything else." Jeep has built the Wrangler in Toledo since World War II, with the exception of six years starting in 1986 when it was built in Brampton, Ontario. The complex dates back to 1910 and currently produces the Wrangler and Cherokee. Past products have included the Wagoneer and Commanche as well as the Dodge Dakota and Nitro.

Jeep and Alfa Romeo join the already exotic Italian police force

Mon, Dec 12 2016

Police departments in Italy are blessed with some of the most iconic cop cars on the planet. Where else will you see a pale blue Lamborghini Huracan LP 610-4 emblazoned with "Polizia" on the road? FCA decided they couldn't let Lamborghini steal the show and have handed over the first Jeep Renegade and Alfa Romeo Giulietta to the Police Academy in Rome. FCA is also loaning two Alfa Romeo Giulia Veloces that will join the two Giulia Quadrifoglios medical cars that are already in service. The Renegade is an four-wheel drive Italian-spec model with a 2.0-liter, 120 horsepower inline four-cylinder engine that we don't get in the United States. The current Giulietta is a small-hatchback that isn't sold in America. On the other hand, the new Giulia and its 280 horsepower turbocharged inline-four and the Q4 all-wheel drive system goes on sale next month. In polizia guise, it's one of the most formidable and beautiful pursuit vehicles on the road. FCA is no stranger to police cars and supplies Dodge Charger Pursuits to fleets all across the US. We spent some time in one a while back and learned all the pros and cons of driving a black and white cruiser. Jeep Comanche Moab Concept: Hell yeah!

Mon, Mar 28 2016

The moment I saw the Jeep Renegade I knew it was a winner, at least in terms of styling. The Renegade's "face" is exactly what small 21st-century Jeeps should look like. It has loads of Jeep's visual heritage DNA – important! – that has been brought up-to-date in the best possible way. (Now if only they could graft that face on to the new-ish Cherokee...). Where the Renegade falls short is what's under the skin. Thanks to misguided marketing, it is saddled with a rather unremarkable USA-spec 2.4L four, undersized tires, so-so ground clearance, an iffy 9-speed automatic, and a questionable (available) low range. I don't mind the independent suspension; in fact I embrace it, as IFS/IRS is the future in terms of off-road suspension design. So, for me, the Renegade is a close-but-no-cigar vehicle, at least as it currently stands. This new Comanche, however, shows how the Renegade can evolve; both as a 4-door SUV, and in terms of how spin-off models can be developed. Big beefy tires, flared out fenders, and great ground clearance are the main ingredients that make this work visually. Still wish for a 3.6L V6 under the hood, but the 2.0L diesel isn't a bad alternative. Anyway, I think a Comanche pickup makes more sense than the predicted Wrangler-based pickup. Why? I'm not big on retro-vehicles in general. Rarely do they survive long term. Besides, the Comanche would be far more civilized and livable. I could see this Comanche pickup as a daily driver much more so than a Wrangler-based pickup. Yeah, I like and value creature comforts over ultimate off-road ability. I think most pickup buyers would agree. Finally, while there is a large devoted Wrangler following who would love a Wrangler-based pickup, I bet this Renegade-based Comanche would bring more new customers into the Jeep tent – especially over a much wider age demographic.
