Beautiful cosmetic and mechanical restoration of a pristine, rust-free, unmodified and original, highway-driven (very limited off-road use), desert California (20 years) and desert Utah (10 years) based 1983 Jeep CJ7. Don't let the mileage intimidate you... since the restoration this beauty drives as new. The key to a great build is to start with a great foundation like this one. Complete, original and rust-free is way more important than miles. And It was done as a labor of love by a friend of mine who planned to keep it forever. Alas, plans change and he has asked me to sell it for him (I'm the eBay go-to guy in my neighborhood).

I know I'm forgetting some additional goodies. Definitely look closely at my pics. And I also have pics of the building process... please ask me for them.

Mechanically, the running gear is excellent. Everything works like new and has been restored/upgraded where necessary. What's cool is that it has been kept all stock underneath. It's built to be a reliable, practical daily driver that will appreciate in value if you take care of it. I've driven many classic CJ's and I'm struck by what a tight, rattle-free, smooth, civilized driver this one is. Personally, I think it drives as good as or better than a new one did in 1983. Just my two cents.

Cosmetically, the owner took some liberties (seats, knobs, paint color, stainless steel, tail lights). But they are done to a very high standard and reversible if you choose. Personally, I'd leave them just the way they are and enjoy them. They certainly contribute to it being a safe, cool (as in awesome), practical and comfortable driver. And I think these tasteful upgrades make it even more unique.

My name is Chris and I am happy to answer your questions. Please call me at 435-669-1470. I also have tons of additional pics that show every nook and cranny. Send me an email address and I will get them out promptly. This beautiful CJ7 is located in the dry, desert community of St. George, Utah (about 100 miles north of Las Vegas). You may want to consider flying in and driving home. I would be happy to help facilitate that. Good luck and good bidding.

Gilles defends 2014 Jeep Cherokee design as "very contemporary"

Thu, 28 Feb 2013

Following the forced-hand introduction of the 2014 Jeep Cherokee, there has definitely been a mix of responses revolving around everything from its design to the return of the legendary nameplate. As evidence of this, just check out the 1,000+ comments in our article last week and some of the many opinions that were voiced. Following this not-too-warm reception, Ward's Auto had a chance to talk to Chrysler designer chief - and SRT president - Ralph Gilles, who shed a little more light on the styling direction of the new Cherokee.
Rather than looking to previous models for inspiration, Gilles says that the Cherokee has been designed to be more contemporary, with Mark Allen, head of Jeep design, adding that a main goal was to make sure the design still looks modern five years from now. Interestingly, Gilles does point out that one of the design elements incorporated on the new Cherokee that pays homage to past Jeeps is the sharply downward angle for the leading edge of the beltline, which he notes is meant to mimic the look of the old YJ and TJ Wrangler models fitted with half doors. Of course, the squared-off wheel openings - a signature Jeep cue - are still used.
This is probably a design that will need to be seen on the street in actual daylight to properly assess, but in the meantime, we'll bring you full images and impressions when the Cherokee debuts at next month's New York Auto Show.

Jeep reportedly releasing Peugeot-based, Fiat-built baby 'ute in 2022

Mon, Mar 1 2021

Jeep is now under the same Stellantis-branded roof as Peugeot, among other European carmakers. It will take full advantage of its new ownership to quickly develop and launch an entry-level car, according to a new report. Anonymous sources told industry trade journal Automotive News that the yet-unnamed model will be positioned directly below the Renegade. Rumors of a baby Jeep have popped up time and again in the past few years, and most claimed it would share its underpinnings with the Fiat Panda 4x4, an immensely capable city car that's a regular sight in the Alps. Those plans have allegedly changed; the soft-roader is now being designed around the Common Modular Platform (CMP) that underpins the Peugeot 208 and the Citroen C4, among other models. Using the CMP platform unlocks several benefits. It's much newer than the architecture found under the Panda, it's highly modular, and it was developed with gasoline, diesel, hybrid, and electric powertrains in mind. It sounds like the first Peugeot-based Jeep will come standard with front-wheel-drive, and it will offer an optional four-wheel-drive powertrain consisting of a longitudinally-mounted engine that will spin the front wheels and an electric motor that will put the rear wheels into motion. Odds are the motor will be capable of powering the crossover on its own, too. Most of the powertrain components will come from Peugeot. CMP wasn't designed for hardcore off-roading, so we're expecting more of a shrunken Renegade for the boulevard than a downsized Wrangler for the trail. Fiat will build Jeep's smallest model in Tychy, Poland, in a factory that currently churns out the Fiat 500 and the Lancia Ypsilon. Production is tentatively scheduled to start in 2022, and it's too early to tell if we'll see the crossover in America. Its pocket-sized dimensions might keep it away from our shores. It will certainly increase Jeep sales on the European market, where models that sell relatively well in the United States regularly post dismal sales figures. For example, the Grand Cherokee is a seen as a leviathan of a family hauler and the Wrangler is heavily taxed. Peugeot's CMP platform will allegedly underpin the production version of the Alfa Romeo Tonale concept, too. Pegged below the Stelvio, the crossover was originally developed on the Renegade's bones — some sources claim that's still the case, and Alfa Romeo hasn't shed light on the matter. Reportedly, Fiat will later get a CMP-based car.

Fiat-Chrysler shows its SEMA lineup

Fri, 24 Oct 2014

Fiat Chrysler Automobiles already previewed its 2014 SEMA show lineup with some slick renders. Now, the automaker has finally showed us the actual cars, and among the group there are definitely some that stand out more than others.
Dodge is really showing off its muscle at this year's show with four concepts that all pump up the power of the brand's models. Perhaps most interesting among them is the Challenger T/A Concept (pictured above) in striking Sublime Green and matte black. It's meant to resemble the classic Trans Am racer from the '70s. Under the hood is a 6.4-liter V8, and to fit the vintage style there's a pistol-grip gearshift inside.
The Charger R/T also gets some attention with the Mopar concept that shows off what FCA's aftermarket performance arm can do. Mods include an updated body kit, cold-air intake for the 5.7-liter V8 and a coil-over suspension kit. Beyond that, the Dart R/T Concept looks a lot meaner with a black hood with duct work that leads straight to the air intake. The rest of the compact sedan is dolled up in O-So-Orange paint and is fitted with upgrades to improve handling like a coil-over suspension and big brake kit from the Mopar catalog.
