Reputed to be the best Road and hill-climb CJ ever made, I'm the second owner--since 1988. Not desert, but it's always been in arid regions until I now brought it back home. About 12,000 miles ago (just under 191,000 total now), I gave the rig to Fred's paint/body shop, then to Motor Masters, then went through the entire drive train with an officer of the NW 4-Wheel Drive Club. My only instructions were to "go through it thoroughly in detail and repair or replace anything you find wrong or worn." They/We did, including a completely rebuilt engine, new efficiency carb (when trying to get the best I could, I got 25 mi/gal), new exhaust system, all brakes, only 1 gear showed wear and was replaced, replaced any body metal as needed prior to paint, rhino lined inside cabin & bed, complete custom paint, only 1 seat panel needed, then TUFF seat covers with front & rear pockets plus one hidden within driver reach, installed a dbbl-lock security console, fog & reverse lights, secured sound system in which only the remote control shows, marine carpeting w/ mud mats, bikini, safari, tonneau & spare tire covers, nerf bars and a rear bumper with frame-strengthened hitch (3/16 &1/4 " steel). Now getting old with most every joint hurting or replaced, I'm into comfort, and when I got a Polaris to run the horse trails with my dog and grandchildren, my wife and I agreed, if you know how that goes, to only have one baby left around here (56 Dodge). I gave the same instructions to my current mechanic and bodyman I did before. Here's what's left now that they have checked her out: There is a curb scuff on a tire, a 1/4" tear in the dash, replace one bed snap for the tonneau, sno wheels need repaint & factory chromes have some pitting, surface (only) rust underneath on the frame(not body), a small ding on the right door interior (I couldn't get it to show in a picture) and the standard inside crack in the plastic on both doors just under the window. The gearshift boot tore last month, and I'll order a new one of those. To perfect the rig now, I would replace the window insulation/seals and duplicate the HD bumper to the front as is now in the rear. I cut the metal for this but never welded it together. Occasionally tighten the HD valve cover to prevent oil leak. I put a new battery in her and muffler/tailpipe. You have one more season or more on the tires depending on the miles you drive. Besides the metal for the bumper, I have a couple of seats that could be mounted in the bed if you like the idea--we could work something out. Look at the pictures. Tell me by email if you want more. If EBay doesn't automatically include an auto check history, I can send one of those, too. I won't ship it, but I would work with your shipper--after bank certification of payment. Fair? Thanks for your interest. Whether you win or not, I hope you enjoy the auction.

Dodge muscle cars, armored Jeep to star in Furious 7 [w/video]

Wed, Mar 11 2015

We're less than a month away from the smorgasbord of speed, stunts and shooting that is Furious 7, and it arrives in theaters on April 3 as one of the first big films of the year. Starring Fast and Furious regulars Vin Diesel, Paul Walker and Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, plus Jason Statham as the big villain, this entry looks to be another exciting addition to the franchise. With such a major movie that features cars as much as the actors, it shouldn't be a surprise that an automaker is getting in on the action as a promotional partner. FCA US supplied nearly 30 vehicles for the film, including prominent roles for a 2015 Dodge Charger, Challenger R/T and armored Jeep Wrangler Unlimited. To really play up the connection, the automaker has laid out a global advertising campaign featuring its models. The marketing includes a variety of unique spots with the cars appearing online and in music videos. Among them in the US is a TV ad called Flash to the Future (embedded below) for the Challenger. Hopefully, Furious 7 can live up to all its pre-release hype. This content is hosted by a third party. To view it, please update your privacy preferences. Manage Settings. This incredibly detailed toy Jeep will set you back $2,300 [w/video]

When I was a kid, I desperately wanted one of those Power Wheels Ford-badged Big Foot impersonators. They were far cooler than my lousy, plastic Big Wheel trike. This 1/8-scale electric Jeep takes the Power Wheels idea to a fanatical level. For one, the Capo Racing Jeep is as true to the real Wrangler as is possible in a 1/8-scale vehicle. Everything works, from the three-speed automatic transmission to the transfer case to the locking differentials. It uses a body-on-frame design with a real, metal multi-link suspension. In the cabin, the seats recline and the instruments light up. It has to be one of the most remarkable miniatures we've ever laid eyes on. Of course, that all comes at a price. As our chums at Jalopnik point out, for $2,300 you could pick up a full-size Wrangler. It'd be battered, sure, but it'd be something you could take on actual roads. Check out the fully gallery of images and official details over on the Capo Racing website. This content is hosted by a third party. To view it, please update your privacy preferences. GMC boss wants a Jeep Wrangler rival

Wed, 12 Nov 2014

Challengers come and challengers go, but the Jeep Wrangler continues to push forward even after vehicles like the Toyota FJ Cruiser and the entire Hummer brand have been shut down. Now GMC reportedly wants to take a stab at the quintessential Jeep, as well.
The news comes directly from Buick-GMC vice president Duncan Aldred, speaking with our compatriots over at Edmunds. Although Aldred said there are no plans currently on the table to expand GMC's lineup beyond the current range, "there is plenty of room everywhere in the hierarchy."
That could include a rival to the Wrangler, as well as a flagship luxury SUV positioned above the current Yukon Denali (pictured above). Just when (or for that matter, if) such models might come into fruition remains a big question mark, but it's certainly interesting to see what GM's dedicated truck brand has on the drawing board.
