**1982 Jeep Scrambler 85,000 Original Miles, Fresh restoration**
Up for auction is a 1982 Jeep Scrambler with Renegade Package. This beautiful Jeep is a one owner, with 85,000 original miles. It has spent its entire life in the hot dry climate of the beautiful Southwest. This Jeep comes out of the stable of Classic 4x4 Co. of Las Cruces, New Mexico, who specializes in these highly collectable Jeeps. This is a fresh restoration that was just completed. This long and tedious process began with the entire body being stripped all the way down to bare metal. There lie a completely rust free body, that can only be found in this part of the country. It was then primed with several coats of 2K primer, then sanded and blocked to perfection. It was then sprayed with several coats of DuPont base coat back to the original color. Then on top, came several coats of DuPont Chroma Clear, which has been done to perfection with a mirror finish, with lots of depth. Next came the original factory decal kit, which completely gives it that factory look. The drive train starts with the original factory engine, that has been completely rebuilt. The transmission is the factory 4 speed and goes through all the gears with greatest of ease. The suspension has been equipped with a very modest 1.5 inch Rough Country lift. All five wheels are original and have been sand blasted and painted back to eggshell white. It has five brand new 31x10.50x15 Mud Terrain tires. The interior is the Renegade Package, which includes carpet, factory tachometer, clock, power steering and power brakes. I am sure I left several things out but there have been thousands of dollars spent on this Jeep making what it is today. This Jeep needs nothing but a new owner. This is not a hacked up Jeep with a new paint job, instead, this is a Jeep that has been professionally done with nothing overlooked. With that being said, please bid with confidence as this is truly a one of a kind Jeep that is highly collectible and will only go up in value. My terms and conditions are as follows: there will be a $1000 deposit due with 24 hours of auction end and the remaining balance due within 3 days, bank to bank wire transfer only. These terms and conditions are non negotiable, so please understand them before bidding. I have a perfect feedback history and expect the same of the buyer. I will answer any and all questions in a timely manner and will also make myself available to the shipping company of your choice, at buyer's expense. This vehicle is being sold as is with no warranty or guarantee of any kind. Thank you for looking and Happy Bidding!!!

NHTSA investigates FCA for SUVs that roll out of Park
Tue, Aug 25 2015The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is opening a preliminary evaluation into the 2014 Dodge Durango and 2014-205 Jeep Grand Cherokee after 14 complaints of the SUVs rolling out of Park. An estimated 408,000 of them could be affected, if a recall is necessary. All of the current complaints submitted to NHTSA about the issue concern the Grand Cherokee, and the claims allege that the SUV can roll out of Park whether or not the engine is running. Some folks report that they check the indicator each time because the gear sometimes fails to engage. Among the 14 cases, there are five accounts of crashes and three injuries, including a situation with someone allegedly being rolled over. NHTSA's preliminary evaluations are meant to investigate "the scope, frequency, and safety-related consequence" of a reported problem. They don't necessarily lead to a recall. The unintended motion has occurred with both the engine off and the engine running. ODI has also identified EWR field report data related to the alleged defect. The model year 2014 and 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee vehicles are equipped with an electronic gear selector (shift-by-wire system). The gear selection is made by pressing the shifter-paddle forward or backwards; the shifter does not move along a gate path as with conventional gear selectors. A Preliminary Evaluation has been opened to asses the scope, frequency, and safety-related consequence of the alleged defect. EU finds Jeep Grand Cherokee and Suzuki Vitara break emissions rules
Thu, Jan 23 2020AMSTERDAM — Fiat Chrysler's Jeep Grand Cherokee and Suzuki's Vitara diesel models both break emissions rules and must be fixed or face a ban on sales across Europe, the Dutch road authority ruled on Thursday. The RDW authority, acting as the reference regulator for across the European Union, said Jeep had developed a software fix and that the authority had ordered the company to recall the model across Europe to roll it out. It added Suzuki had yet to find a credible solution for the Vitara. "Suzuki must come with adequate improvement measures or the RDW will begin the process of revoking its European type approval," the RDW said in a statement, adding it had also started the process of revoking approval for the Jeep Grand Cherokee as a "precautionary measure." Regulators across the world have been testing diesel models since Volkswagen admitted in 2015 that it used illegal software to cheat U.S. emissions tests. The RDW said it had found both the Jeep Grand Cherokee and Vitara had used "prohibited emissions strategies" that led them to emit higher levels of harmful nitrogen oxide (NOx) on the road than under testing conditions. Dutch State Secretary for Infrastructure, Stientje van Veldhoven, said in a letter to parliament she would inform prosecutors of the RDW's findings. Fiat Chrysler and Suzuki could not immediately be reached for comment. Related Video: This content is hosted by a third party. To view it, please update your privacy preferences. Manage Settings.
Auto Mergers and Acquisitions: Suicide or salvation?
Tue, Sep 8 2015We love the Moses figure. A savior riding in from stage right with the ideas, the smarts, and the scrappiness to put things right. Alan Mullaly. Carroll Shelby. Lee Iacocca. Andrew Carnegie. Steve Jobs. Elon Musk. Bart Simpson. Sergio Marchionne does not likely view himself with Moses-like optics, but the CEO of Fiat Chrysler Automobiles recently gave a remarkable, perhaps prophetic interview with Automotive News about his interest and the inevitability of merging with a potential automotive partner like General Motors. Marchionne has been overtly public about his notion that GM must merge with FCA. For a bit of context, GM sold 9.9 million vehicles in 2014, posting $2.8 billion in net income, while FCA sold 4.75 million units and earned $2.4 billion in net income, painting a very rosy FCA earnings-to-sales picture. But that's not the entire picture. Most people in the auto industry still remember the trainwreck that was the DaimlerChrysler "merger" written in what turned out to be sand in 1998. It proved to be a master class in how not to fuse two companies, two cultures, two continents, and two management teams. Oh, it worked for the two individuals at both helms pre-merger. They got silly rich. And the industry itself was in a misty romance at the time with mergers and acquisitions. BMW bought Rolls-Royce. Volkswagen Group bought Bentley, Bugatti, and Lamborghini, putting all three brands into their rightful place in both products and positioning. No marriages there, so no false pretense. Finally, Nissan and Renault got married in 1999. A successful marriage requires several rare elements in this atmosphere of gas fumes and power lust. But a successful marriage requires several rare elements in this atmosphere of gas fumes and power lust, the principle part being honesty. Daimler and Chrysler lied to each other. The heads of each unit, the product planners, and finance all presented their then-current and long-range forecasts to each other with less-than-forthright accuracy. Daimler was the far greater equal and no one from the Chrysler side enjoyed that. The cultures were entirely different, too, and little was done to bridge that gap. Which brings me back to the present overtures by Marchionne to GM. "There are varying degrees of hugs," Marchionne stated in the Automotive News piece. "I can hug you nicely, I can hug you tightly, I can hug you like a bear, I can really hug you." Seriously?
