1982 Jeep Cj7 Renegade 6 Cylinder 5 Speed Original Paint Unrestored Survivor on 2040-cars

US $4,495.00
Year:1982 Mileage:200000 Color: in a few places
Location:

Franktown, Colorado, United States

This is a very nice original 1982 jeep cj7 renegade with its renegade name removed probably after it was new. All the stripes are still the original 1982 factory applied stripes. I just bought a polaris rzr, and have decided that may be what I would rather put my money in. This jeep should be left the way it is and preserved. I was going to get the factory renegade decals in the exact color from Phoenix graphics. They sell it only for $85.00.
Body:
the body is really very straight.. Starting to bubble up on the exterior in a few places, but amazingly great condition for being a 32 year old off road vehicle. Still has all the factory stripes minus the renegade decal on hood. Factory hardtop with doors. Tailgate opens and shuts nice, as does rear hatch, with twist handle holding it tight. The rear  windows have the factory tint. Hood shuts nice and tight, with no crease as do most from hitting roof. The drivers side floor has rust as shown, no patch panels, diamond plating, bondo ect. What you see is a rare unrestored original. This would be really nice to keep it his way, but also and easy restoration jeep, or just drive it as a jeep should be...still has rare factory jack and lug wrench on inner fender, usually missing..I do not have the key for the doors or rear hatch, bug should be very easy to Get at a locksmith. Also included is a box of new bushings, as some have been installed already.
Interior:
The front seats have been covered at sometime, rear seat looks pretty nice still. Factory carpet has been removed, and is still in great shape. Just over the years the guy must have had snow on his shoes and soaked under the carpet, as most did.  There is a small part also on floor behind driver with some rust. Easy repair on both, with all the small patch panels available. Dash is rare uncut original!! No radio. All the gauges work except the fuel gauge, may be a sending unit?  4wd light comes on on the dash still. Still has factory console. Tilt power steering horn works.
Drivetrain
This has the great 258 6 cylinder, coupled with the optional 5 speed for 1982. 4wd works great in both high and low, along with he factory lock out hubs. Running on the rare optional chrome factory jeep wheels, usually reserved for the laredos. Brand new less than 350 miles, firestone 30x9.50x15 much tires at a cost of almost $900 for 5 all on factory jeep wheels. The smog pump was taken off, but included as shown. The cat is still on the jeep. Another rare thing is usually when people took these off they almost always trashed them. I believe this jeep had either factory a/c or dealer installed a/c. Includes the rare jeep a/c unit, but don't have compressor. Gone alternator has gone a/c bracket still mounted on top. What another super rare accessory. Jeep runs great, goes down the highway smooth, no pulls. Tires don't sing much. Rear axle code shows this to be a 3:31. Jeep was bought new here in denver at kearns jeep, still attached. 1982 was the 1st year for the wide trac axles, another desirable addition.

This jeep is really a amazing survivor, with rare options as a 5 speed, a/c, tilt wheel, renegade package, factory chrome wheels, hard top..
I have a clear colorado title, and vehicle Is stored inside a building. I can store it for the winning bidder for 1 month free, then $75.00 per month after. I will include a buy it now, but once the low reserve is met it will go away. Check my feedback, as I tend to describe to much, but have never had anyone upset about that!! Look at some of the others for sale with 2-3 line descriptions or painted, or the wonderful diamond plating to cover the rust. You will know exactly what your buying...please email with any questions.

Fiat-based baby Jeep spotted testing in US and Europe

Thu, 03 Oct 2013

Details remain scarce, but our spy photographers have managed to capture the upcoming Jeep B-segment crossover for the first time, testing in both the Alps and in the US. Shown here as a cobbled-together Fiat 500L mule, the new Jeep model is expected to arrive for the 2015 model year and act as a replacement for the current Compass and Patriot models.
According to our shooter, the new "baby Jeep" will share a platform with the Fiat 500X, and both models will be built on the same assembly line in Turin, Italy. We can't tell much from these images, but the added length apparent on this 500L mule would seem to dispel the recent speculation that the new entry-level Jeep model would be sized closer to the Ford Fiesta - since the 500L is already considerably larger than the Fiesta. Powertrain options will likely mirror other Fiat/Chrysler collaborative vehicles like the Dodge Dart, but this Jeep will also try to live up to its off-road roots with an optional all-wheel-drive system.

Auto Mergers and Acquisitions: Suicide or salvation?

Tue, Sep 8 2015

We love the Moses figure. A savior riding in from stage right with the ideas, the smarts, and the scrappiness to put things right. Alan Mullaly. Carroll Shelby. Lee Iacocca. Andrew Carnegie. Steve Jobs. Elon Musk. Bart Simpson. Sergio Marchionne does not likely view himself with Moses-like optics, but the CEO of Fiat Chrysler Automobiles recently gave a remarkable, perhaps prophetic interview with Automotive News about his interest and the inevitability of merging with a potential automotive partner like General Motors. Marchionne has been overtly public about his notion that GM must merge with FCA. For a bit of context, GM sold 9.9 million vehicles in 2014, posting $2.8 billion in net income, while FCA sold 4.75 million units and earned $2.4 billion in net income, painting a very rosy FCA earnings-to-sales picture. But that's not the entire picture. Most people in the auto industry still remember the trainwreck that was the DaimlerChrysler "merger" written in what turned out to be sand in 1998. It proved to be a master class in how not to fuse two companies, two cultures, two continents, and two management teams. Oh, it worked for the two individuals at both helms pre-merger. They got silly rich. And the industry itself was in a misty romance at the time with mergers and acquisitions. BMW bought Rolls-Royce. Volkswagen Group bought Bentley, Bugatti, and Lamborghini, putting all three brands into their rightful place in both products and positioning. No marriages there, so no false pretense. Finally, Nissan and Renault got married in 1999. A successful marriage requires several rare elements in this atmosphere of gas fumes and power lust. But a successful marriage requires several rare elements in this atmosphere of gas fumes and power lust, the principle part being honesty. Daimler and Chrysler lied to each other. The heads of each unit, the product planners, and finance all presented their then-current and long-range forecasts to each other with less-than-forthright accuracy. Daimler was the far greater equal and no one from the Chrysler side enjoyed that. The cultures were entirely different, too, and little was done to bridge that gap. Which brings me back to the present overtures by Marchionne to GM. "There are varying degrees of hugs," Marchionne stated in the Automotive News piece. "I can hug you nicely, I can hug you tightly, I can hug you like a bear, I can really hug you." Seriously?

Jeep Renegade and Fiat 500X finally on the way to dealers

Mon, Jun 1 2015

After a brief pause, the Jeep Renegade and Fiat 500X are on their way to dealers again. While initially reported as a software bug, the issue had nothing to do with the models themselves. According to a statement from FCA US to Autoblog, the "vehicles were built with an atypical Vehicle Identification Number that may not be recognized as valid by some computer systems." That problem has now been fixed. FCA US held the compact crossovers back from dealers until the company could rectify the bug. If the CUVs had been delivered, there would have been difficulty registering the vehicles, according to Automotive News. Before discovering the situation, about 20 of these Renegades were sold to customers. FCA CEO Sergio Marchionne originally discussed the predicament in late May. "I'm having a very bad engineering day," he said. "It's a combination of attributes of that vehicle that is making my life horrible." While the boss predicted the problem would be fixed as late as mid-June, the company apparently got things working much quicker than that. Related Video: FCA US Statement A limited number of 2015 Jeep Renegade and 2016 Fiat 500X vehicles were built with an atypical Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) that may not be recognized as valid by some computer systems. This VIN issue has been resolved. FCA US has been working with governmental agencies, insurers and financial institutions with whom customers may interact to ensure successful registration, financing and insurance coverage. Renegade and 500X vehicles are being shipped and are in stock at dealerships for purchase. The VIN issue is entirely separate from the operation of the vehicle.
