1982 JEEP CJ-7 LAREDO RARE COPPER METALLIC WITH NUTMEG TRIM INTEIOR !
This AMC classic Jeep CJ-7 is all clean steel with most of the original paint which is not flawless, however the luster is still very sweet. The original floor pans are solid and have never been patched or replaced. There is no bed liner or undercoat cover-up. There is a newer decal kit and there was a few areas of touch up. There is 4 new high quality chrome wheels and a non matching spare with a rare nutmeg tire cover. The frame, frame rails, and undercarriage, all rock solid !
The 4.2 inline 6 cylinder runs very strong. The fuel delivery system has been upgrade to a Mopar correct Multi Port (MPI) 4.2 fuel injection system. It now runs better then ever. This very expensive upgrade is worth every penny (No more carter carb blues). The T5 manual transmission and the Dana 300 are supper strong and shift perfectly. The brakes system, including emergency brake function well and have been complete gone through recently. The suspension has been upgraded with some heavy duty spring hangers and a mild spring lift some time ago provide for the perfect looking stance. Chrome front bumper, chrome front grill with pin stripe, and rear chrome bumperettes present.
The interior is OEM Nutmeg in all it's 80's glory. The seats do show some wear, however are still presentable for 30+ years old. The leather grab bar, leather steering wheel, Tilt steering column, Laredo horn button, dash pin stripe, oem nutmeg center console w/keys, nutmeg dash pad and complete OEM carpet all present. The clock is new and keeps perfect time which does illuminate with the dash lights. The tach is not functional as it's being used as a pass-through for the upgraded ignition and fuel injection system. The headlight, tail lights, and turn signals all function. Even most of the dash light work, as does the volt meter, oil pressure, and speedometer. The gas gauge does read fuel amounts, however it's erratic with readout responses. There is an period correct aftermarket cruise control unit that I've personally never used.
I've owned this Jeep for a couple years and I still have the Colorado title which is free and clear and ready for immediate transfer without delay.
I'm running the auction with bikini TOP ONLY to keep the reserve as low as possible, however I can source most any top option you desire at a fair price. If you have any additional questions please call 716-512-8307.
Overall this CJ with it's patina, rare color, clean sheet metal, desirable trim package, and solid mechanics is one of my personal favorites from my collection. I am confident you will love it too !
Thanks for looking !

Jeep Wrangler likely to get aluminum body, will stay in Toledo
Mon, 27 Oct 2014Perhaps more than any other vehicle currently for sale in the United States, the Jeep Wrangler is viewed by purist fans as a vehicle that simply must maintain the status quo. In this case, that means a body-on-frame design, solid axles, a relatively large engine sitting up front and a removable top. It's always been that way, and it always will be.
Maybe.
According to the most recent reports, the next-generation Jeep will continue to soldier forth with a full steel chassis underneath its stamped bodywork. The biggest change, reports Automotive News, will be that said panels will be hewn from aluminum instead of steel, a seismic shift of a transition not unlike what's happened with the new Ford F-150. Because it won't be a unibody, the SUV will likely continue to be assembled in Toledo, OH as it (almost) always has been - the latter has been a source of heartburn in recent weeks for the Northwestern city in the Buckeye State.
Government Ending Jeep Investigation
Tue, Jan 21 2014The government is closing its investigation into older-model Jeeps with fuel tanks that could rupture and cause fires. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said Friday it has "no reservations" with Chrysler Group's plans to recall the vehicles. The agency is expected to release a report on its investigation in a few weeks. The decision ends an unusually public struggle between Chrysler and NHTSA. The agency asked Chrysler to recall 2.7 million Jeeps last June, contending that their gas tanks - which are positioned behind the rear axle - were at risk of rupturing and catching fire in rear-end crashes. Involved were Grand Cherokee SUVs from the 1993 to 2004 model years and Liberty SUVs from 2002 to 2007. Chrysler initially refused to recall the vehicles. The company said the rate of fuel leaks and fires after crashes was similar to comparable vehicles that were sold during the time in question. It was the first time in two years that an automaker had refused NHTSA's request for a recall. Chrysler later agreed to recall 1.56 million of the Jeeps and install trailer hitches on them to help protect the gas tanks. The company sent notices to the remaining customers saying their vehicles were fine if they have factory-installed or Chrysler-made trailer hitches. NHTSA said late Friday that it has been in close contact with Chrysler and will monitor the recall as it continues. Chrysler has told customers that it will start installing the hitches soon. "Consumers should have their vehicles serviced promptly once they receive final notification from Chrysler,"NHTSA said in a statement. In its own statement Friday, Chrysler said, "We share NHTSA's commitment to safety." NHTSA's outgoing chief, David Strickland, told The Associated Press in an interview last month that Chrysler had convinced NHTSA that the Jeeps were no more dangerous than similar vehicles sold at that time. "Those vehicles performed at a rate similar to their peers. That is the keystone analysis as to whether something poses an unreasonable risk to safety," Strickland said. Friday was Strickland's last day at NHTSA. He is joining Venable, a law firm. NHTSA began investigating the Jeeps at the request of the Center for Auto Safety, a Washington-based advocacy group. "It is tragic that NHTSA approved Chrysler's sham trailer hitch recall for Jeeps that explode in rear impacts," the Center for Auto Safety's director, Clarence Ditlow, said Friday.
2018 Jeep Wrangler to get 8-speed auto
Mon, Nov 24 2014Remember when the Jeep Wrangler had a three-speed automatic? That wasn't that long ago – as recent as the 2007 redesign – but Chrysler is keen to leave those days behind on the dusty trail. The current model ushered in a four-speed, then a five-speed, but the latest intel indicates that an eight-speed automatic is in the cards. According to a report filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission, and cited by Automotive News, Jeep plans on fitting its eight-speed automatic transmission to the next-generation Wrangler. Chrysler already uses the ZF-sourced slushbox on the Jeep Grand Cherokee, Ram 1500, Chrysler 300, and versions of the Dodge Challenger, Charger and Durango. But according to the SEC filing, the Auburn Hills automaker intends "to use this transmission in all of our rear-wheel-drive vehicles, except for heavy-duty versions of the Ram pick-up truck and the SRT Viper." AN says that Chrysler wanted to slot the transmission straight into the current Wrangler, but it wouldn't fit. Between the transmission and shift to aluminum construction, the next-generation Wrangler promises to deliver a significant reduction in fuel consumption. In correspondence with Autoblog, however, company spokesmen declined to comment on the eight-speed's suitability towards either the current Wrangler or the upcoming one.
