For sale by auction, 1981 CJ7 Laredo that runs and drives. CJ has a straight six 258 motor, bikini top, 3-speed automatic transmission and three inch lift. I have replaced the: - air filter - oil filter - transmission filter - crown pinion oil seal on rear differential - floor headlight dimmer switch - front headlights - tail light bulbs - windshield wipers - bikini top I have purchased, but not installed: - Front and back seat covers - Brake light switch Jeep has a bikini top only, aftermarket front seats, original back seat (has rips), inner floor tub has been sprayed with undercoating. Automatic shifter has been moved from the tree to the floor. Heater switch works, windshield wipers work, fuel gauge works. Body has some dents, rust and scratches and the paint is faded, but I like the original patina, and it still says "Laredo" on the hood. Speedometer does not work and no radio. Winch is not wired to the battery, but I have the cords to connect it. The radiator cooling line for the transmission does not circulate, so the trans fluid is cooled through the transmission vent line circulating through the level indicator. This is a quick fix that works well, but you can easily blow some compressed air through the radiator cooling line and free any blockage. Mileage reads 89,110, but I'm sure it has stopped counting. The title says exempt on the mileage, since the vehicle is older than ten years. Overall, this is a great little CJ that I drive around town on weekends and tinker with at night. It starts, it drives, it's fun. I'm going to be sad to see it go, but it must. All sales are final and Jeep is sold as is. Thanks and good luck! Please e-mail with questions. |

AEV Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon

After their rented 2007 Hummer H3 failed them during the brutal Rallye Aicha des Gazelles in Morocco, Amy Lerner and her sister Tricia Reina were on a quest to find the most capable production off-roader for their next competition - they chose a 2012 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon. Their next mission was to find a company with the competence to configure it to win. After poring over Internet forums and perusing countless magazines for an outfitter who could meet their demanding requirements, they sent their bright orange JK ("Crush" is the official color) to American Expedition Vehicles (AEV) for some modifications.
The Michigan-based team at AEV kept the Jeep's 3.6-liter V6 and automatic transmission stock, but replaced the hood with a tall AEV Heat Reduction Hood and added an AEV Snorkel Kit for water crossings (it serves double-duty as its raised height helps to keep the air intake out of the kicked-up dust on the trail). Front and rear off-road bumpers were bolted in place, and AEV skid plates were added to provide additional undercarriage protection. A pair of IPF-900 off-road lights improve visibility, while a 10.2-gallon AEV Fuel Caddy (located behind the exterior spare) added some range. The suspension was upgraded with a 3.5-inch lift kit with Bilstein remote reservoir shocks, and 35-inch Falken Wildpeak A/T tires (LT285/70R17) were mounted at all four corners on AEV's beadlock wheels.
Toledo gets proactive in fight to keep Jeep Wrangler
Wed, 08 Oct 2014Let's make this very plain - the city of Toledo, OH loves its Jeeps. It loves them so fervently that the very rumor of the Jeep Wrangler moving out of its traditional home prompted the city's mayor, D. Michael Collins, and Ohio Gov. John Kasich to hold a weekend conference call with Chrysler CEO Sergio Marchionne.
"The purpose of this call was for the mayor and governor to gain clarity on Mr. Marchionne's comments last week regarding the possibility of the next generation of Jeep Wrangler being built at a location other than the Toledo North Assembly Plant," a spokesman for the mayor's office told The Toledo Blade.
While no further commitments were made by any party, Collins and Kasich's statement was quite unequivocal about keeping Toledo's unwillingness to let the Wrangler go, saying "the city and its partners will again rise to the occasion to ensure that the new Wrangler is made in Toledo." According to the newspaper, the next step is for face-to-face meetings between officials from Ohio and FCA.
Excavator in China bashes BMW and Jeep out of the way
Tue, Jun 2 2015This Chinese construction site apparently has a zero tolerance policy towards obstacles getting in the way of work. When blocked by a Jeep and a BMW, the operator of this excavator pushes the two vehicles out of the way like they're toys. The Bimmer gets the brunt of the abuse, with the sedan getting lodged up against a fence. The exact context of this clip isn't entirely known, but The Mirror in Britain speculates the vehicles are illegally parked. But that doesn't explain why the excavator crashes through a gate later in the video. Also, this doesn't appear to be the case of a rogue operator taking out some frustrations, because a man with a walkie-talkie is leading the way and seemingly directing the destruction.
