I have a 1980 CJ-5 street legal rock crawler that turns heads everywhere I go with a clear CO title, ready to wheel. I have completely gone through the Jeep this past winter at my shop, adding a new 15 gallon Jaz fuel cell, new rear brake lines, custom skid's, Fox service on air shocks, fab work and welding, CB, wakeboard marine speaker pods and amp with MP3 plug-in, New battery, custom rear false floor for gear or dogs (Over fuel cell) etc...

The never ending list:

Stretched 108" wheel base with comp cut and tapered rear end 3 link front with 2.5 Fox air shocks and 4 link rear with 2.0 Fox air shocks and limiting straps. Shocks were rebuilt by Fox in December. I have a full Nitro & Reg kit as well that I will include, this allows you to adjust shocks and ride height.

New A-727 3 speed tranny with approx 300 miles on it, B&M shifter, twin stick Dana 300 with 4:1 terra low and clocking ring. Currie 9" axles front and rear, 4 wheel disk brakes with 4.88 gears and Detroit lockers, pinion skids, Superwinch lockouts, custom hi-steer with heim joints and track bar setup. 38" Super Swamper TSL's (50% + tread) on MRW beadlocks. Adam's Driveline custom drive shafts.

AMC 304 with Holley Pro-Jection TBI, Edelbrock intake manifold, recently added closed loop kit (O2 sensor) allows the computer to self adjust for air/fuel, Mallory ignition, New electric fan, New alternator, New water pump, Brass/Copper 4 row radiator. All new fluids. Just upgraded master cylinder and added brake booster conversion. Has rear line lock. Motor has been rebuilt by previous owner, does not burn any oil, however it is still running a little rich with the Pro-Jection. I have recently replaced throttle positioning sensor and coolant sensor as well. The timing is currently set-up for higher altitude as I live at 10,000ft, easily adjusted with timing light.

Interior and Safety: full roll cage tied to frame and under seats, 5 point harnesses, custom switch panel, Oil pressure, Temp, Voltage, and Tach gauges. New CB and antenna and stereo setup with waterproof wakeboard speaker pods and marine amp. New windshield and much more. There is NO gas gauge, speedometer or odometer.

Custom front and rear bumpers, tranny/transfer skid, rock sliders, Warn winch, Rock lights, LED tail and fog lights. 60" Hi-lift jack and mount on cowl. Half doors....Lots of new parts! The exterior is spray painted, however it looks good and is easy to maintain.

This is street legal in CO, I have had it inspected by local police and was street legal in Nevada as well. It has a Nevada assigned VIN as a hot rod and title shows 1987 Jeep (State of Nevada titles custom rigs as it was last known in stock form) although it is a 1980 CJ5. I have clear CO title in hand as well as insurance to prove there is no issue or transferability conflict with the state/title. Although it is street legal, this is NOT a daily driver nor would I recommend any long trips. I have wheeled it in my home state of Colorado and was at Easter Jeep Safari in Moab this year, great rig and it draws LOTS of attention. I haven't had the time to use it as it should and selling it because I have a business opportunity.

Feel free to ask any questions,
You can also reach me via call or text at 423-767-nine five six 2

Thanks,
David

Finding surfing spots in the UK is tough work, even in a Jeep

Sun, 06 Jul 2014

You truly have to love surfing to practice the sport in the United Kingdom. The area isn't exactly teeming with warm beaches full of sunbathers, and absolutely no easy spots to find big waves. To be a UK surfer, you need to be a fearless adventurer, not to mention quite lucky. And driving a Jeep might help, too.
Surfers Oli Adams and Micah Lester are traveling around the British Isles in a Jeep Wrangler Overland trying to find the best surf spots out there. These guys don't fit the laid-back surfer stereotype, but that's because finding waves in the UK is hard work. They say that the waves at some of these spots only exist for about three hours every year when the current and winds are just right.
To find these surf spots, the Jeep's offroad capabilities are paramount. In some areas, as you'll see in the video, there isn't even a beach, just jagged rocks. It would be like the movie Endless Summer, that is, if it could start snowing at any moment. These guys are clearly dedicated to their sport.

Bring back the Bronco! Trademarks we hope are actually (someday) future car names

Tue, Mar 17 2015

Trademark filings are the tea leaves of the auto industry. Read them carefully – and interpret them correctly – and you might be previewing an automaker's future product plans. Yes, they're routinely filed to maintain the rights to an iconic name. And sometimes they're only for toys and clothing. But not always. Sometimes, the truth is right in front of us. The trademark is required because a company actually wants to use the name on a new car. With that in mind, here's a list of intriguing trademark filings we want to see go from paperwork to production reality. Trademark: Bronco Company: Ford Previous Use: The Bronco was a long-running SUV that lived from 1966-1996. It's one of America's original SUVs and was responsible for the increased popularity of the segment. Still, it's best known as O.J. Simpson's would-be getaway car. We think: The Bronco was an icon. Everyone seems to want a Wrangler-fighter – Ford used to have a good one. Enough time has passed that the O.J. police chase isn't the immediate image conjured by the Bronco anymore. Even if we're doing a wish list in no particular order, the Bronco still finds its way to the top. For now (unfortunately), it's just federal paperwork. Rumors on this one can get especially heated. The official word from a Ford spokesman is: "Companies renew trademark filings to maintain ownership and control of the mark, even if it is not currently used. Ford values the iconic Bronco name and history." Trademarks: Aviator, AV8R Company: Ford Previous Use: The Aviator was one of the shortest-run Lincolns ever, lasting for the 2003-2005 model years. It never found the sales success of the Ford Explorer, with which it shared a platform. We Think: The Aviator name no longer fits with Lincoln's naming nomenclature. Too bad, it's better than any other name Lincoln currently uses, save for its former big brother, the Navigator. Perhaps we're barking up the wrong tree, though. Ford has made several customized, aviation themed-Mustangs in the past, including one called the Mustang AV8R in 2008, which had cues from the US Air Force's F-22 Raptor fighter jet. It sold for $500,000 at auction, and the glass roof – which is reminiscent of a fighter jet cockpit – helped Ford popularize the feature. Trademark: EcoBeast Company: Ford Previous Use: None by major carmakers.

Jeep sets all-time sales record in 2012

Wed, 09 Jan 2013

Last year was good to Jeep. Chrysler has announced its trail-rated brand set an all-time global sales record in 2012 by moving 701,626 units. That number easily surpasses the previous record set in 1999 when Jeep sold 675,494 models. All told, the brand saw a 19-percent sales increase worldwide over 2011, and much of that swell can be traced directly to the Wrangler. While the Grand Cherokee led Jeep sales, the Wrangler posted record numbers both globally and within the US, moving 194,142 and 141,669 units in each market, respectively.
Meanwhile, the Compass beat its previous global sales record with 103,321 units rolling off of dealer lots. In the US, Jeep sold 62,010 Patriot units, breaking that model's previous record as well. Jeep's impressive performance in 2012 marks the second year in a row the brand has seen double-digit percentage sales increases. Check out the full press release below.
