When the engine is cold, it is difficult to start without a squirt of starting fluid. Once the engine is running, it runs and idles just fine. A manual choke was installed but it does not seem to help very much. The prior owner replaced the speedometer after it stopped working at 38,965 miles. He guessed that the Jeep has about 41,000 miles on it. He said that the owner before him had left the Jeep to sit for many years without being driven. Since then the Jeep was still driven very little. The new speedometer is not very accurate with mph. The fuel gauge and temp. gauges are not working. The oil pressure gauge isn't working but I have the part to fix it. The rest of the electronics, lights and charging system work just fine."

I bought this Jeep all most a year ago as a vehicle just to have fun with and fix up.  Due to health issues I'm not able to do all the things that I have wanted to do with it.  If I could I would keep it because it is a fun vehicle to drive and it gets a lot of compliments.  I have only put a few hundred miles on it since I have owned it because currently it is not registered or insured.  With the carburetor problem that I described above, it might or might not pass smog.  I haven't had the carburetor fixed yet due to my health problems and lack of money to get it done.  I haven't taken this Jeep off road but I have engaged the four wheel drive to test it and it seems to work just fine.  Both the engine and transmission seem to be in good mechanical condition.  The clutch feels real strong and shifting through the gears is very smooth.  The Jeep has power steering that works well too.  The prior owner installed a new 12,000 pound winch that has not been used yet and a new CB radio that is a good quality radio with a lot of functions on it.  There is a new bikini top and half doors that are shown in the pictures. There is no full soft top but I do have the metal frame for one.  There is a nice custom made full roll cage for added safety.  There is almost no rust at all on this Jeep which is unusual for its age.  The only rust I have found is just a little bit on the inside of the hood.  The body, for the most part is straight.  It has some very small dents here and there.  I painted the entire body in camouflage which has received many compliments.  There appears to be about three areas on the body that have had some bondo work done.  The CJ 5 is a small type of body and is well known for being one of the best four wheel drive vehicles.  I think after the carburetor is fixed this could easily be a reliable daily driver vehicle or a fantastic hunters Jeep.

New England Patriots player helps driver of rollover crash

Tue, Jan 20 2015

Winning the AFC Championship game to guarantee a spot in the Super Bowl would be a pretty major accomplishment for most people in a day. However, just hours after the victory, New England Patriots defensive tackle Vince Wilfork showed what he could do off the field, when he helped save a woman from an overturned car. Though, the player remained modest about what happened. Wilfork and his wife were driving home late at night when they spotted a flipped Jeep near Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, MA. Surveillance video showed Wilfork pulling over and running to the vehicle's aid to be among the first on the scene. Finding a woman trapped inside, Wilfork told her, "Don't panic," and according to Massachusetts State Police, the 325-pound player simply reached his arm into the vehicle and lifted the woman out to save her. She was later charged with driving under the influence. Hear Wilfork's description of what happened in the video above.

Woodward Dream Cruise Photo Gallery | Classics and American muscle

Sun, Aug 21 2022

The 2022 running of the Woodward Dream Cruise just went down, and we were there from morning to evening drinking in the sweet sights and pre-emissions exhaust fumes. Yes, it’s a little smelly on Woodward Ave. this time of year. Just like always, the Dream Cruise invites all comers to cruise their machines on Woodward from Ferndale, MI to Pontiac, MI. Everybody is invited, but the original intent of the Dream Cruise was to highlight classic American muscle cars. YouÂ’ll see plenty of those in our mega gallery above, but weÂ’ve sprinkled it with a bunch of other vehicle types, such as modern muscle and other intriguing American vehicles. Similar to years past, though, sometimes the classics arenÂ’t the most entertaining thing to look at on Woodward. ThatÂ’s why weÂ’ll have other mega galleries coming soon, highlighting the weird cars and (great) dogs of the Cruise, all the imports and exotics you can imagine and a special one for all the trucks of Woodward — perhaps even more so than in years past, the truck population on Dream Cruise day was quite high. Click through above to see all the classics you wouldÂ’ve seen had you been roadside on the day of the cruise. And if you missed this yearÂ’s event, make sure you check out what happens next year. You wonÂ’t be alone, as itÂ’s estimated that over 1 million people attend the Dream Cruise to either watch from the side of the road or to sit in the most glorious traffic jam in the world. Bring back the Bronco! Trademarks we hope are actually (someday) future car names

Tue, Mar 17 2015

Trademark filings are the tea leaves of the auto industry. Read them carefully – and interpret them correctly – and you might be previewing an automaker's future product plans. Yes, they're routinely filed to maintain the rights to an iconic name. And sometimes they're only for toys and clothing. But not always. Sometimes, the truth is right in front of us. The trademark is required because a company actually wants to use the name on a new car. With that in mind, here's a list of intriguing trademark filings we want to see go from paperwork to production reality. Trademark: Bronco Company: Ford Previous Use: The Bronco was a long-running SUV that lived from 1966-1996. It's one of America's original SUVs and was responsible for the increased popularity of the segment. Still, it's best known as O.J. Simpson's would-be getaway car. We think: The Bronco was an icon. Everyone seems to want a Wrangler-fighter – Ford used to have a good one. Enough time has passed that the O.J. police chase isn't the immediate image conjured by the Bronco anymore. Even if we're doing a wish list in no particular order, the Bronco still finds its way to the top. For now (unfortunately), it's just federal paperwork. Rumors on this one can get especially heated. The official word from a Ford spokesman is: "Companies renew trademark filings to maintain ownership and control of the mark, even if it is not currently used. Ford values the iconic Bronco name and history." Trademarks: Aviator, AV8R Company: Ford Previous Use: The Aviator was one of the shortest-run Lincolns ever, lasting for the 2003-2005 model years. It never found the sales success of the Ford Explorer, with which it shared a platform. We Think: The Aviator name no longer fits with Lincoln's naming nomenclature. Too bad, it's better than any other name Lincoln currently uses, save for its former big brother, the Navigator. Perhaps we're barking up the wrong tree, though. Ford has made several customized, aviation themed-Mustangs in the past, including one called the Mustang AV8R in 2008, which had cues from the US Air Force's F-22 Raptor fighter jet. It sold for $500,000 at auction, and the glass roof – which is reminiscent of a fighter jet cockpit – helped Ford popularize the feature. Trademark: EcoBeast Company: Ford Previous Use: None by major carmakers.
