For your consideration, is this amazing 1979 Jeep CJ7.  I looked for years for one in this condition.. Original body and paint and as rust free as they come!!  If that isn't enough, this one is set up with all the right equipment.  I came across this recently and bought it..  I spread myself thin financially doing it, so either this needs to go or my convertible "8701" model Jeepster.. If I dont sell this, I will likely list the Jeepster.. This is one amazing find. Pictures show condition well.  It has always been garage kept.  Everything that has ever been done to this Jeep has been a methodical sequence of events.. It is obvious when you familiarize yourself a little bit with this Jeep, the two previous owners were very caring owners.I expect questions from serious buyers and I am available to do a "walk around" over the phone for those buyers.. I also encourage you to come out and see it for yourself, I'm willing to pick you up from the airport to help accommodate you.  I'm a classic car enthusiast, have owned several neat cars, and have sold a handful of them on Ebay.. The last one I sold was in 2011, it was an original paint 72 Datsun 240z.. Every buyer has been happy with the car they have received. I know where and what to look for when considering a classic car.  We all know rust (lack of!)  and originality are the key components that dictate value in any classic. I hope you find my description and pictures supportive of a classic car enthusiast.. I truly try to show the areas that I would want to see.  Onto the some details of this amazing vehicle.

Body, Paint and Rust Condtion:

Personally, I have never seen one in this condition before.. All original steel body, with no paint work ever.  It has always been garage kept.  The body is incredibly straight.  Study the pics closely, ask for specific pics.  The rear corners, tailgate, fender, tub (floor pan) are all superb.  The paint still has a good luster and does not appear to be wearing thin like many original paint Jeeps..  Don't expect like new paint though..  It has its share of paint imperfections.. mostly tiny rock chips, the front fenders and grill is where the majority of them are.  The decals are factory, and in good shape considering their age.  As far as rust.. Its much easier to show you in the pictures... the lack of rust.  I believe the best way to familiarize yourself and really learn what you have is to detail clean the entire vehicle.. After all, dirt is often where rust starts, and hides it from the eye.  I've spent some time cleaning and waxing this Jeep.. I will admit, it was very exciting for me to discover how exceptionally clean this CJ7 is! The lift gate of the hard top has a 3-4" hole (see pic) There is one spot shown on the back left corner that is very minor.  It localized and the metal around it is solid, has not affected the body mount area below.  There is some slight rust beginning under the horn mount on the front left fender, you can email me for a pic of that if you want.  I have tried to get good shots of the floors from both sides, they are amazing.  A very common spot for rust is the lower back sides of the front fenders, I've included pictures of those areas too.. Again, study the pictures.. Call or email me for any specific shots you may desire.. I have no problem taking pics from my iphone and texting them or emailing them to you.. Just ask.

Mechanical, Drivetrain etc:

This Jeep has been set up perfectly.. in my opinion.  To be totally honest.. Its a monster.  When you jump on the gas.. be ready..  this thing is like a muscle car.  Here are some of the upgrades.

360 AMC V-8 smooth, quiet seasoned motor.  Very responsive, very powerful.  On occasion, you may see one light puff of smoke at start up.. Does not continue to smoke.  Nothing to be worried about at all here.. It has a newer Edelbrock intake and carb setup.. It doesn't miss a beat, very responsive. Has all the power and more I would expect from such a motor. It has dual exhaust with glass packs.. When your on the gas.. you know it.. and everyone else does too!  Its a little loud for me.   Im 100% confident in this motor..

T-18 Ford 4 speed transmission with granny low 1st gear, and low reverse.  Works perfectly in all gears, no noises or issues.  Clutch engages without any chatter, slippage or issues.

I believe the transfer case, and axles to be original.  Quite certain its a Dana 44 in the rear and Dana 30 up front.. Factory skid plates, etc all intact.

The Renegade came with factory power steering and power brakes.  Both work well.  Steering is good, but may need some attention.. I've driven it at 55-60 mph on a winding road.. handled like I expected a Jeep to.

Has a loc-rite locker in the front.. I've put it into both 4 hi and 4 lo.. you can definitely feel the locker in the front working.  Also comes with a locker for the rear that is used and is supposedly the right one!  Factory spider gears for the front end included too.

Electrical, everything works including all lights (every light except the under the hood light works).  Has an aftermarket tach that is working, factory gauges work.. fuel gauge is working intermittently, working today!  Has a newer stereo with aux/ipod hook up.  Under the rear seat is a 12V compressor with appropriate air tool kit.  This is activated by a toggle switch on the dash.  Nice extra.

Suspension:  It appears that maybe it has a longer set of spring shackles on it..  It does sit a little lower on the rear left corner..  I cant see any problem with the leaf spring.  I think it is shackle related.  Has newer shocks and the rest of the suspension/front end looks very original and un-tampered with.

Interior:

Pics show condition well.  Dash is in great shape with no speaker holes cut, looks factory.  Steering column looks great.  Floors have been treated professionally with a bed-liner material and look great.  Front seats are original and the upholstery looks great for a 30+yr old Jeep!  Rear seat is from a Samurai, it folds and tumbles to reveal the 12v compressor and tool area. This tool box is completely removable if one wanted to go back to the original seat set up.  Original rear seat is not included.  Seat belts intact.  Rear factory roll bar was professionally modified to cover more area in the rear.. it was then powder coated black.  It was also, reinforced from underneath for a stronger mount.  Nice locking center console with cup holders. Windows roll up and down.  Doors have hairline cracks on both, and have been repaired (see photo, black rubber strip).  Tailgate works perfectly and rear cargo lift works well. Ventilation/Heater box was completely cleaned, new heater core installed, cables all working.

Accessories:

This Jeep has all of the best accessories you could think of..  Anything added was done extremely well and it shows.

Believed to be a Dealer installed Warn winch, with vinyl cover !!!  Awesome!!

Front loc-rite locker

Edelbrock intake/carb

Aluminum radiator

electronic ignition

Aftermarket aluminum wheels, 31" AT's

Nice Bikini top

Nice soft half doors

Has mounts for (2) 5 gal Jerry cans

Comes with a used rear locker (told it will fit, no guarantee)

Nice lockable center console

Nice sounding stereo with 2 6x9 speakers and 2 5.25" in boxes up front.

Like new pair of Cabella seat covers.

12v air compressor and accompanying air tool bag.

Summary:

As I mentioned.. I have never seen one in better condition that this.. Original paint is a big deal for me.. No bondo hiding rust problems..  Great patina, that shows this Jeep has been cared for and preserved.  It is a blast to drive.. It really has gobs of power.  Everything added and listed above, was very well thought out and adds to the enjoyment factor of this Jeep.  With the monster power, super low range ability,  Warn winch and the locker up front, this Jeep is very capable off road.  Would compliment any Jeep enthusiasts collection.  Amazing survivor.

Jeep brings quartet of concepts to Beijing to show its Chinese style

Mon, 21 Apr 2014

Jeep is making a big play for the Chinese crossover market at the 2014 Beijing Motor Show. It has a quartet styling concepts for the Renegade, Cherokee and Wrangler that are inspired by Chinese culture at the show.
Among them is the newest member of the Jeep lineup - the Renegade. Its Zi You Xia concept (pictured above) comes from the Mandarin for "rebel," and it's painted in Warm Chocolate Gray with Dark Anodized Bronze trim, including the 20-inch wheels. The roof, grille surround, and mirror caps are done in a complimentary Dark Charcoal color as an accent. The interior is a mix of dark brown leather and Anodized Copper trim. This is one swanky compact crossover.
The Cherokee Sageland and Urbane concepts are meant to show to different sides of Chinese style. With inspiration from the Shangri-La Region, the Sageland has Ivory Pearl tri-coat paint with bronze trim on the outside, and the interior is covered in Gray Nappa leather with red and blue stitching. The Urbane's look comes from the nightlife in the country's cities. The exterior is a color called Maximum Steel with Hyper Black trim. Inside, it combines Piano Black trim with dark red leather seats.

Autoblog's Editors' Picks: Our complete list of the best new vehicles

Mon, May 13 2024

It's not easy to earn an “EditorsÂ’ Picks” at Autoblog as part of the rating and review process that every new vehicle goes through. Our editors have been at it a long time, which means weÂ’ve driven and reviewed virtually every new car you can go buy on the dealer lot. There are disagreements, of course, and all vehicles have their strengths and weaknesses, but this list features what we think are the best new vehicles chosen by Autoblog editors. We started this formal review process back in 2018, so there's quite of few of them now. So what does it mean to be an EditorsÂ’ Pick? In short, it means itÂ’s a car that we can highly recommend purchasing. There may be one, multiple, or even zero vehicles in any given segment that we give the green light to. What really matters is that itÂ’s a vehicle that weÂ’d tell a friend or family member to go buy if theyÂ’re considering it, because itÂ’s a very good car. The best way to use this list is is with the navigation links below. Click on a segment, and you'll quickly arrive at the top rated pickup truck or SUV, for example. Use the back button to return to these links and search in another segment, like sedans. If youÂ’ve been keeping up with our monthly series of the latest vehicles to earn EditorsÂ’ Pick status, youÂ’re likely going to be familiar with this list already. If not, welcome to the complete list that weÂ’ll be keeping updated as vehicles enter (and others perhaps exit) the good graces of our editorial team. We rate a new car — giving it a numerical score out of 10 — every time thereÂ’s a significant refresh or if it happens to be an all-new model. Any given vehicle may be impressive on a first drive, but we wait until itÂ’s in the hands of our editors to put it through the same type of testing as every other vehicle that rolls through our test fleet before giving it the EditorsÂ’ Pick badge. This ensures consistency and allows more voices to be heard on each individual model. And just so you donÂ’t think weÂ’ve skipped trims or variants of a model, we hand out the EditorsÂ’ Pick based on the overarching model to keep things consistent. So, when you read that the 3 Series is an EditorsÂ’ Pick, yes, that includes the 330i to the M3 and all the variants in between. If thereÂ’s a particular version of that car we vehemently disagree with, we make sure to call that out.

We drive the cars of Furious 7... in Forza Horizon 2 [w/video]

Thu, Apr 9 2015

On March 27, Turn 10 Studios, the folks behind the Forza Motorsport series, and Universal Pictures, the studio responsible for the Fast and Furious franchise, gave us a match made in heaven, announcing a "standalone expansion" featuring the two franchises. Called Forza Horizon 2 Presents Fast and Furious, it features the cars from the latest film installment, unique missions and the voice-acting of Chris "Ludacris" Bridges, who plays tech guru Tej Parker on camera. A Fast and Furious video game? Seems like a no brainer. It gets better. Rather than limiting the Fast and Furious Edition cars to the expansion game, Turn 10 made them available through one of their (some may say notorious) downloadable content packages. Eight of the expansion's 11 cars were made available for just $4.99 (the only cars that weren't included were the Fast and Furious Edition Nissan GT-R, while the Bugatti Veyron Super Sport and McLaren P1 are already available in-game). What's cool ais that the cars featured in both games are visually identical to the vehicles driven by the stars of Furious 7. Each in-game car has an on-screen parallel that plays a role in advancing the film's story. Considering that we're unlikely to score seat time in Dominic Toretto's real Dodge Charger, then, we figured we'd take to the game and test the car in the digital realm. We've got nine little cluster reviews, covering the cars both in the game and how they appear in the movies. And don't worry, there are no major spoilers here. Click on for the cars of Forza Horizon 2 Presents Fast and Furious. 1970 Dodge Charger R/T Fast and Furious Edition Supercharged 7.2L V8 / 900 HP / 663 LB-FT The one vehicle that is mandatory in a Fast and Furious video game, Dom's hot-rodded 1970 Dodge Charger, is as much a character in the films as its driver. Furious 7 marks the fourth appearance of this Mopar beast in the series. Not surprisingly it's a handful to drive, wildly quick and with a four-speed transmission packed full of very tall gears. But beyond that, it's arguably the coolest of the FF Edition cars. This black beauty is exactly as it appears in the latest installment of the film, with the video game version featuring intricate little details, like the moving parts on the BDS supercharger. It's an iconic car, and it's treated as such in the game.
