1979 Jeep Cj7 304 V8 Mint Condition on 2040-cars
Three Lakes, Wisconsin, United States
I am offering for sale my 40,000 mile, pristine condition Jeep CJ-7. It has a documented history since new that includes no damage, no rust, no excuses! Its early life consisted of summertime fishing and camping trips, with a canoe on top, some tent gear and fishing poles in the back. I don’t believe it has ever seen bad weather.. one look at the frame, and you will agree. The all-original body is in flawless condition. The drive-train consists of the tried-and-true 304 V-8 coupled with a 3-speed manual transmission and floor shifter. It also has the rare power steering and power brake options. It starts, drives, and responds like it did when brand new. The steering is tight and straight, drive line is quiet, ride is solid, and it brakes straight and strong. The dual exhaust has a subdued but authoritative note to it.. not loud and overbearing, but just a hint of the powerful V-8 that sits behind it!
A frame-up restoration was done on a rust- and damage-free body. A gorgeous, show-quality three-stage candy apple red paint finish that is worth over $10,000 was applied. The paint (material alone) is over $1,500, and there are tireless hours of preparation and finishing work invested that demonstrate the labor of love with which this CJ was restored. Condition of the body is documented with photo albums of pictures showing what it looked like going into the restoration, during, and after.
It has new Dick Cepak all-terrain tires on Mickey Thompson CJ wheels that are made specifically for this Jeep. They are the proper size and offset for the correct height and stance. It has a brand new vintage sound system that looks like factory AM radio, and even has the Jeep name badge, but has 250 watts of outstanding sound and is coupled with an MP3 port that is hidden. Absolutely no dash modifications were done to accommodate the stereo.
It has tasteful additions of stainless steel accents- namely the grill, rockers, mirrors, and instrument cluster surround. The body, drive-train and suspension are all as-original and correct- the only modifications are headers & dual exhaust system and an Optima battery.
Included are the soft top, side curtains, and doors, which are all off and stored in nice 8/10 condition.
After a thorough critique of the vehicle’s condition, and a review of it’s documented history, you will agree that this is without a doubt one of the finest examples of a vintage CJ-7 still in existence. It is refined with the show quality paint work, but still rugged and correct. The finish quality draws attention everywhere this beauty is taken. It has recently undergone a thorough appraisal for insurance purposes that declare it show quality throughout and noted absolutely no defects or short-comings in its value. Coupled with that, it has all the right equipment and options, most notably the 304 V-8, power steering and power brakes.
Bid with confidence on this legendary CJ that will undoubtedly only continue to rise in value as time passes. |

China's Great Wall confirms its interest — in Jeep, or all of FCA
Tue, Aug 22 2017HONG KONG/SHANGHAI — Chinese automaker Great Wall Motor reiterated its interest in Fiat Chrysler Automobiles NV on Tuesday, but said it had not held talks or signed a deal with executives at the Italian-American automaker. China's largest sport utility vehicle manufacturer made a direct overture to Fiat Chrysler on Monday, with an official saying the company was interested in all or part of FCA, owner of the Jeep and Ram truck brands. Automotive News first reported the news, quoting Great Wall Motor President Wang Fengying as saying she planned to contact FCA to discuss acquiring the Jeep brand specifically. Those comments sent FCA shares higher but also raised questions over the ability of China's seventh-largest automaker by sales to buy larger Western rival FCA, or even Jeep, which some analysts value at as much as one-and-a-half times FCA. Great Wall sought to dampen speculation on Tuesday. It confirmed it had studied Fiat Chrysler, but said there was "no concrete progress so far" and "substantial uncertainty" over whether it would eventually bid. "The company has not built any relationship with the directors of FCA nor has the company entered into any discussion or signed any agreements with any officer of FCA so far," the company said in an English-language stock exchange filing. It did not give further detail. Fiat Chrysler stock dipped on the statement on Tuesday. Great Wall said trading in its Shanghai-listed shares would resume on Wednesday after having been suspended. Fiat Chrysler declined to comment on Great Wall's statement. On Monday, it said it had not been approached and was fully committed to implementing its current business plan. FLUSHING OUT RIVALS? Great Wall Motor, which was early to spot China's love of SUVs, had revenue of $14.8 billion last year and sold 1.07 million vehicles - but that compares with FCA's 2016 revenue of 111 billion euros ($130.6 billion). Analysts said Great Wall would need to raise both debt and equity to complete any deal, meaning its chairman Wei Jianjun could lose majority control. One possible scenario, according to analysts at Jefferies, would see Wei keeping a roughly 30 percent stake, while Great Wall would raise $10-$14 billion in debt and $10 billion in equity - hefty for a group currently worth just $16 billion. Ultimately, politics could be the clincher.
Jeep Cherokee faces on-sale delay
Sat, 23 Mar 2013A report in The Wall Street Journal looks at some of the obstacles to the 2014 Jeep Cherokee that go beyond its mootable yet "very contemporary" looks, almost all of them based on Fiat's financial position. Starting with that sheetmetal, in defense of it SRT president Ralph Gilles and Jeep design head Mark Allen said they wanted to "make sure the design still looks modern five years from now."
The WSJ piece doesn't cite longevity as a factor, instead saying that its features originated in a design for an Alfa Romeo, the transformation into a Jeep design meant allowing Chrysler get it to market more quickly and save "hundreds of millions of dollars" in engineering.
The need for Fiat to save money while it weathers the European situation has cut budgets for development, engineering and the pace of retooling the Toledo, Ohio plant to build the Cherokee. In a familiar case of snowballing at work, among the effects will be pushing back the Cherokee's volume sales date and delaying updates to some of Chrysler's other products.
Jeep Patriot replacement adopts tiny Grand Cherokee styling
Thu, Jun 16 2016After almost a year out of the spotlight, we've finally snagged our second set of images of Jeep's new CUV. Set to replace both the Patriot and Compass, these latest images reinforce what we originally thought about Jeep's newest model – it's a baby Grand Cherokee. These 15 images provide the best look yet at the new sheetmetal, details, and interior. Starting with the skin, it's like Jeep's designers scaled down the Grand Cherokee's profile to fit on the new crossover's stretched Renegade platform. The headlights, grille, and taillights looked like shrunken items from Jeep's flagship crossover, too. This is good news – even after its 2011 facelift the Compass was a homely little thing, and the Patriot was boxy at a time when CUVs were going for smoother, more aerodynamic lines. Jeep's new CUV is avoiding those mistakes by aping one of the company's most popular designs. Only the driver's seat, steering wheel, and center stack appear in the interior images, so we can't tell how the stretched chassis impacts rear-seat legroom compared to the Renegade/Fiat 500X. But in front, it looks like a Jeep – FCA's corporate steering wheel and HVAC controls are present and accounted for, but the usual touchscreen display looks bigger the expected 8.4-inch unit. That could just be the camera angle playing tricks on our eyes. We can't make any judgments about the material choices, but we'd expect quality to be on par with the larger Cherokee. Under hood, our spies report that FCA's nine-speed automatic will be the only transmission choice. FCA will call on its new 2.0-liter, Hurricane four-cylinder engine, the spies claim, but we also expect the less powerful 2.4-liter, four-cylinder from the Renegade and Cherokee. Apparently, production will begin by the end of the year. Short of a shotgun launch immediately after a Detroit debut, that virtually guarantees a debut in Los Angeles (or possibly Paris).
