1979 Jeep Cj *classic* 4wd 4x4 304 V8 Rockcrawler Scarce Acme Hardtop/doors! on 2040-cars
Uxbridge, Massachusetts, United States
Awesome 1979 Jeep CJ Sedan. I want to explain that I am selling this reluctantly as I purchased it in 2004-05 and worked on it until my sister's unexpected health issues caused me to move to Maine to take care of her. Since I didn't own/drive the vehicle much there is a lot I have forgotten about since I haven't seen recently it until a couple of weeks ago-so bear with me as I try to list all the details. The Jeep was initially stored inside but space became an issue and it had to be moved outside where it has been for about 5 years. Jeep has the original 304 V8 engine . Anyone with knowledge about Jeeps will know the 8 cylinder Jeeps are getting harder and harder to come by. This CJ has four speed heavy duty transmission and many extras such a Mean Green Alternator,MSD High Vibration coil, electric fan, heavy duty gas tank shell, Dick Cepek tires on American (?)chrome rims, Warn hubs, BF Goodrich 33X12.5 15 Mudders (4 tires/wheels and spare),stainless front bumper, stainless dash, stainless grill, stainless mirrors. Has a 4" rollbar , matching side rock slider set, and gray carpeting Fender flares have been added.Jeep ran well when I left it and my dad started it last year to move it and said it ran well- but system needs to be flushed before running it again and I don't have the resources to do so from Maine. Has power steering/power brakes and Grant leather steering wheel. The Jeep will need to be transported by the new owner-I have driven t on the highway but it is very high and I would not advise it on a regular basis! Has a four barrel Holley carb as well as many other extras I cannot recall. Has a Ramsey Winch and KC lights in the front. Has Powertrax lock right lockers installed but comes with the original spider gears as well. Jeep is lifted 6" over the axles. Beautiful heavy duty cast differential covers front/rear. I had just purchased (and had installed) a new Painless wiring harness but some fool broke into the Jeep a week after I left and stole the Sony CD player I had put into it-so the wiring needs mending. I will include all kinds of spare parts (starter, front seat, rear seat, soft top doors and support, stainless parts, original spider gears, ect.) I have a nice pair of TJ seat brackets/ sliders I will throw in. Will include the original dash and hard doors as well as a HEAVY tow chain.. Jeep comes with the impossible to find ACME hardtop and doors. I travelled from Massachusetts to Big Rapids Michigan to get this nice set. Price does not include Hi-Lift jack. As you can see, everything needs to be cleaned, body frame needs a sand/bead blasting, ect. One of the Cepek tires was leaking air and may/may not be good-I took it off and put the spare on it so it can be moved.I will throw in a set of cj7 fiberglass aftermarket doors and rear hatch for parts,/glass. (I had to purchase these to scavange the highly sought after door latches to use on the Acme doors). Mileage on my title is 102,794 but that is approximate as I have added only a minimal amount since I purchased it.Since I can only be there to meet with the owner after the sale, I am selling this AS IS. It comes with hundreds of dollars in spare parts as shown. I am trying to be completely honest in my listing but I don't need any complications either but will be glad to answer any questions through ebays' messaging system. This was a beautiful Jeep a few years ago and needs some work but it is solid and a classic CJ 4x4 .New buyer is responsible to pick up but I will work with you if time is an issue.
On Jun-06-14 at 00:28:21 PDT, seller added the following information: Obviously this is a CJ5 but I forgot to note that in my listing. Also, before it was parked I had a custom made prop shaft installed by Mitchell Driveline which was in the neighborhood of $500. |

Jeep Grand Cherokee, Dodge Durango to lose color options temporarily
Wed, 19 Nov 2014In the market for a Jeep Grand Cherokee or Dodge Durango? Well, if you fancy a more expressive color for your new SUV, you'd better get your order in, or plan on waiting until well into 2015.
The SUVs will be limited to just four monochromatic shades - black, white, silver and gray - until at least February, thanks to an upgrade to the paint shop at the two vehicles' Jefferson North factory. For the Grand Cherokee, that means it's losing more than half its color palette while the Durango is dropping two-thirds of its color catalog.
The loss of colors is inconvenient, but the upgrade will have a slightly bigger effect on the overall supply of SUVs, as Chrysler will need to end its relentless build pace at the factory for a three-week shutdown starting on December 22. The good news for fans of the SUVs is that once the work is completed, we should see a gradual expansion of the color palettes for both the Durango and Grand Cherokee, beyond even what's offered now.
Jeep reveals Grand Cherokee SRT Night, Wrangler Backcountry
Thu, Nov 12 2015Another major car show is almost upon us, and you know what that means. That's right, boys and girls – another pair of custom Jeeps. Far be it from us to complain, though, especially when the pair of SUVs debuting at the LA Auto Show this month aren't just for show. These will actually be offered to the public as new special editions. In one corner we have the Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT Night edition, with all the brightwork replaced with black. The roof, rear spoiler, front grille bezels, pillars, and window surrounds are all done up in gloss black, while the wheels – custom 20-inch jobs – as well as the front applique and badging have all been given a satin black treatment. The interior, as you might have guessed, is also predominantly black, with black leather, black chrome bezels, and silver stitching. Buyers will be able to choose between deep red, silver, or dark gray exterior colors, but either way they'll be getting the same 6.4-liter V8 – all 475 horsepower and 470 pound-feet of it. In the other corner is the Jeep Wrangler Backcountry. This one's based on the Wrangler Sahara and features a special off-road front bumper, powder-coated rear bumper, and the 17-inch wheels and rock rails from the Wrangler Rubicon. The interior features piano-black trim, leather and mesh seats, vinyl accents, nine-speaker Alpine sound system, and more. It'll be available in five colors – blue, black, white, gray or purple – with special graphics (because nothing says "backcountry" quite like neon pink decals on a purple Jeep) and a standard black (or optional body-colored) hardtop. The Wrangler Backcountry will be reaching dealers around the same time as its live debut towards the end of this month. Don't expect to see the GC Night edition on the streets until early next year, though. Pricing for either has yet to be announced, but you can scope out the details of both in the press release below. Jeep® Introduces Two New Special-edition Models at the Los Angeles Auto Show - New 2016 Jeep® Grand Cherokee SRT Night boasts stealth-like premium black appearance, with black roof and lightweight performance wheels - New 2016 Wrangler Backcountry delivers enthusiasts a unique Jeep SUV loaded with off-road capability features to tackle the toughest winter months November 12, 2015 , Auburn Hills, Mich.
First Jeepster prototype spotted with final, boxy form
Thu, 23 Jan 2014The long-awaited baby Jeep is getting closer to production, as evidenced by these spy photos. Previously, the only images of the so-called Jeepster saw it wearing a Fiat 500L body (see below), while this new batch of photos show hefty amounts of camouflage. How is that better? Well, it's very likely there's a production body hiding under all that cladding.
While picking out styling details is virtually impossible thanks to all the camo, as our spies point out, this gives us a very sound idea of the Jeepster's final size. It's small, although we'd argue that it's only slightly smaller than the current Jeep Patriot, based on the images of the newest Jeep sitting in front of an Alfa Romeo Giulietta.
As we reported previously, this little bambino will be built on a Fiat platform, but the styling should be uniquely Jeep - likely to include a somewhat vertical seven-slat grille and round headlights. We can expect to see a production Jeepster, if that ends up being the actual name (Latitude has been rumored, although as that's traditionally a trim level, we imagine there'd be some confusion), when it debuts at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show.
