For auction is a very restorable 77 cj5. 232 6cyl., 3-spd. Body and frame are totally rust free. No rust out any where. Has 4" suspension lift. Does run and yard drive. Needs front shoes.....brakes are weak. Does have some smoke but do believe it is valve seals. Was last run in 2010 before I got it and was being used as a trail buggy. It is too good for that is why I bought it to restore. Plans have now changed and selling. Has a nice set of 32x12.50 tires on 10" chrome nugget wheels. Winch needs controls and cable. Has lots of stainless already on it. Windshield is not broken nor is there any rust out in the frame. Was a nice jeep before being turned into buggy. I have found a guy south of me that has all missing trim...flares, side markers, lights, back seat, another column, chrome bumpers, front fenders, etc. for real cheap prices and will give winning bidder the information. Jeep hiring 1,000 part-time workers in Toledo on Wrangler, Cherokee demand
Wed, 12 Mar 2014The new Jeep Cherokee has been quite a success for Chrysler, but its factory workers are getting tired. The automaker has agreed to hire up to 1,000 part-time, temporary employees at its Toledo Assembly Complex where the CUV and Wrangler are built. It will allow the company to keep Jeep production moving, while giving laborers a break.
According to plant manager Chuck Padden in the Toledo Blade, full-time workers are regularly taking on 60 hours a week, and it's beginning to wear on them. "To get them more time off is important to us, to make sure they're refreshed, and can work safely," said Padden.
Chrysler has already hired 380 temporary, part-time workers for the plant, and 50 have been converted to full-time employees. The company is in the process of interviewing the rest of the new hires now and plans to have all 1,000 in place by the summer. They will work between 10 and 30 hours a week mostly on weekends for $15.78 per hour with limited benefits. The temporary positions will last "as long as demand continues for the Jeep Wrangler and the Jeep Cherokee," said Jodi Tinson, Chrysler spokesperson for manufacturing and labor communications, to Autoblog in an email.
2014 Jeep Cherokee will keep Liberty designation in China... sort of
Wed, 17 Apr 2013Chinese buyers will get their first live look at the 2014 Jeep Cherokee during the Shanghai Motor Show, but CarNewsChina is reporting that it will go by a different name - Ziyou Guan, which translates to "Liberty Light." The article states that our Jeep Liberty was never sold in China, but the iconic XJ Cherokee was sold and produced there as the Qinuoji (a phonetic translation of Cherokee).
The new Jeep Liberty Light will be built alongside the Fiat Viaggio (China's Fiat-badged version of the Dodge Dart) at the Guangzhou-Fiat plant, and the two models will share the same powertrains: a 1.4-liter turbocharged four-cylinder base engine paired to a five-speed manual or a dual-clutch transmission and a 2.4-liter four-cylinder (the base engine for the US-spec 2014 Cherokee) as an optional engine. It doesn't sound like the 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 will be offered in China.
