The GOOD! This is a restored 1976 CJ5 with the AMC 401 that has plenty of power and then some, 3 speed T150 transmission, Dana 20 transfer case, Dana 30 front differential and a AMC 20 rear. This is a 2 year old restoration that still looks great!!! The pictures does not do the High Performance Red paint justice. The 401 cubic inch motor came out of a 1977 Grand Cherokee with 78000 mile on it. Has had new gasket set installed along with a new water pump, new factory AMC 600 Holley, K&N breather and filter, new radiator and fluid. The drivetrain works excellent with new Superior 1 piece axles, 4.11 gears and posi unit in the rear and a new clutch set. New dual exhaust from the manifolds back with flowmaster mufflers, 4 inch lift with new Skyjacker shocks. All of the exterior hardware has been replaced with stainless, hinges latches, tail lights, side marker lights etc...New fenders and tailgate, new fender flares. The tub has been Rhino line and not the cheap stuff either. I have a New Best top and doors in the box along with a new Best bikini top that's never been on the Jeep since it's garage kept. The tires are Yokahama Geolander AT-S with less than 500 miles on them The speedometer head was replaced when I bought the Jeep that's why I specified 7650 mile. Over $12000 invested with myself doing a lot of the work. The BAD. The windshield is fogged a little around the edges, small place in the paint that is hardly noticeable and a ever so small tansmission drip about the size of a dime after driving it. I'm been very honest about this Jeep! It drive great, run great and looks great.  Feel free to contact me with any questions because I'm sure I miss some details.  Thanks!

Jeep Liberty replacement takes shape

Wed, 16 Jan 2013

Now that the Liberty has left us for greener pastures, it's time to start looking into the future of the midsize Jeep model. The next all-new vehicle for the off-road brand will be the SUV you see here, effectively replacing the Liberty, and not necessarily carrying on with that name.
From the sides, the prototype you see here sort of looks like a miniature version of the handsome Grand Cherokee, albeit with a bit more in the way of body sculpting. Up front, the seven-slat grille will be front and center, with completely revised headlamp designs that are reportedly angular and sweep well into the front fenders (you can sort of see what we're talking about in the side profile). That doesn't sound very Jeep-like, but we'll reserve judgment until we, you know, see the thing.
The bigger question with the Liberty replacement will be whether or not its off-road chops will be up to snuff. After all, the two previous generations of Liberty models were body-on-frame traditional SUVs, whereas this new Jeep rides on a larger version of the Dodge Dart platform.

2014 North American Car and Truck/Utility of the Year finalists announced [w/poll]

Tue, 10 Dec 2013

The 2014 North American International Auto Show is right around the corner, which means it's high time we found out which cars and trucks would be finalists for the prestigious North American Car and Truck/Utility of the Year awards.
The finalists - three in cars and three in three trucks/utilities - are dominated by American brands, with two-thirds of the finalists hailing from either General Motors or Chrysler (don't worry Ford, there's always next year), while outliers from Mazda and Acura can be found in each contest. Here now is the list of finalists for the big prizes:

Happy 50th birthday, Jeep Wagoneer

Thu, 02 May 2013

The Wagoneer got the SUV on the radar of buyers looking for something capable, comfortable and rugged.
The Jeep Wagoneer was introduced 50 years ago, and it's that vehicle we have to thank for the herds of excellent crossovers and SUVs that make up our current automotive landscape. On a personal level, I have always loved the full-size Jeeps and their crisp Brooks Stevens styling, which aged well over their long tenure on the market. The SJs, as they're known among enthusiasts, were the Wagoneer and its two-door counterpart, the original Cherokee. The Wagoneers had become true luxury vehicles by the end of their run, which stretched form late 1962 as a '63 model all the way to 1991, when they were offered exclusively under the Grand Wagoneer nameplate.
