I am listing this vehicle for a good friend of mine. It is truly a 2 owner vehicle beginning its life in the warm dry Arizona climate where it spent the vast majority of its life until 2007. It was purchased new in October 1957 for approx $2100. The gentleman who owned it kept it until his passing in 2004 and then his son took possession until 2007 when it was traded in for a muscle car at a dealership named Broom Auto in Scotsdale, Arizona. It was at this point my friend saw it online and just had to have it! This is how it ended up in Connecticut, until the present. The vehicle runs and drives out excellent. It starts flawlessly and all the gears shift and hold just as they should. The 4 wheel drive works perfectly, the motor was rebuilt before my friend purchased it at which point the odometer was reset to the 3306 miles that you see now. It seems that the original color was blue and it has had several repaints in its life. The undercarriage as you can see is very clean and has never been driven in the snow of Connecticut. It is remarkable how nice the original metal on the vehicle is with only slight repairs made to the front fenders before it was repainted. The vehicle has been gone through mechanically over the last several years. It has a new front end, exhaust, all new engine gauges, waterpump, a great heater and new wipers. The seats have been reupholstered upon their original metal frames and a new removable top and doors also have been added. There are new body mounts so the vehicle holds steady and true with minimal body noise. There are 5 brand new mud and snow tires mounted on original rims to complete the drivetrain. During the last 7 years in Connecticut it has only been driven on a few occasions, approx 50 miles to a summer camp in Otis, Mass at which point it was garaged until its return back home. This vehicle draws a crowd wherever it goes and is a blast to drive. If you are looking for an old school, 4 wheel drive that really defines the American frontier as it was conquered this is the Jeep for you! What is really cool is the tool box located under the passenger seat which is perfect. Every item on this Jeep functions exactly as it should without exception. The paint on the vehicle is not perfect nor should it be on a 56 year old Jeep. There are a few dings as you can see in the photos. Shipping is the responsibility of the buyer but we will assist to load. A $500.00 deposit is required within 24 hours of the auction ending. All funds must clear the bank before the vehicle is shipped. You will receive the original Arizona title and a Connecticut Bill of Sale. It is for sale locally and we reserve the right to cancel the auction at any time. If you feel you can give her a good home we invite your bids. Any questions please email me and I will respond quickly. Thanks for looking. Happy Bidding.

Jeep Begins Fixing 1.56 Million Recalled Grand Cherokee, Liberty SUVs
Tue, Jan 14 2014Chrysler is just now beginning the big job of fixing 1.56 million older Jeep SUVs seven months after a recall was announced, according to The Detroit News. Jeep Grand Cherokees sold between 1992 and 1998 and Jeep Liberty models sold between 2002 and 2007 are being recalled because the gas tank can leak in the event of a rear-end collision, leading to a fire. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration originally requested the recall of 2.7 million vehicles. Chrysler initially disputed NHTSA's findings and seemed willing to go through a court battle until an 11th-hour deal reduced the number of vehicles involved in the recall. The remaining vehicle owners left out of the recall will receive a "customer service action" notification and may not get fixed. Chrysler says the vehicles are safe and need no repairs. Fixing the 1.56 million Jeeps will cost Chrysler $151 million. NHTSA cited 51 deaths causes by such tank fires. Chrysler plans to install protective trailer hitches to protect the gas tanks, but even the automaker admits the hitches will only provide incremental protection in a low-to-moderate speed rear-end crash. Australian Jeep marketing stunt goes awry [w/video]
Tue, 15 Jul 2014Jeep fans in Australia are none too happy with the off-road brand following a contest that saw ten new Cherokees sold for just $10,000 Australian (about $9,400), roughly a quarter of the vehicle's price Down Under.
The contest, called the "World's Most Remote Dealership," gave Aussies the chance to snag an ultra-affordable Cherokee Longitude (analogous to the US-spec Latitude trim), provided they could get to a secret dealership in the remote wilderness of western New South Wales, near the border with the state of South Australia.
In order to get the exact location of the dealership, though, potential customers needed to download an app, which would release a phone number 9:00 AM AEST on Thursday (7:00 PM EDT, Wednesday night). The first ten people who could call in and prove they could afford to finance $10,000 and get to the remote dealership, were given the location of the remote dealership.
Chrysler reports $166M net income for Q1, down $307M vs. 2012
Mon, 29 Apr 2013Preliminary first-quarter results from 2013 have been announced by Chrysler, and the company is reporting a net income of $166 million on revenue of $15.4 billion. Compared to this period last year, net income is down $307 million and revenue has dropped $1 billion.
Chrysler says that its quarter was negatively affected by the costs associated with launching its 2013 Ram Heavy Duty, 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee and preparation for the return of the all-new 2014 Jeep Cherokee pictured above. The launches should provide a strong second half of 2013, says the automaker. "We remain on track to achieve our business targets, even as the first-quarter results were affected by an aggressive product launch schedule," said Chrysler Group LLC Chairman and CEO Sergio Marchionne.
On a positive note, the automaker says worldwide vehicle sales are up 8 percent from one year ago, a number pushed by a 12 percent bump in U.S. retail sales. In addition, domestic market share has risen slightly, up to 11.4 percent from 11.2 percent last year. Read more in the official statement below.
