Up for auction is an amazing WWII Tribute Jeep, brought to you by Halberd Classics LLC, Classic & Exotic Automobile Brokerage.

If you have been looking for a classic car that gains tons of attention and is an absolute blast to drive; look no further.  Having been beautifully restored as a tribute to the World War II workhorse Jeeps, complete with overdrive and mechanically flawless; this jeep is exactly what you have been
looking for.

The owners of this 1947 Willy's CJ2A started the project with a 3 owner vehicle that had always lived in the same area of the state. This Jeep was sold new less than 10 miles from her current location.  The idea was to restore the vehicle and turn it into a tribute to the U.S. Jeeps that served during WWII in Northern Africa.  Everyone has seen the olive drab green Jeeps from this time period, but the often forgotten and rare Willy's Jeeps that patrolled Northern Africa during the war were desert tan.  The stars were added to the hood, windshield frame and rear quarters.  The rear handles, jerry can and holder and the spare tire drop down mount were added.  Today this beautifully restored CJ-2A draws every eye as she rolls down the road.

During the restoration the body of the jeep was completely disassembled.  The body was all sanded down and/or sand blasted.  All of the rusted areas were cut out and replaced correctly.  The entire jeep was then primed and painted with 3 coats of the correct Desert Tan flat paint.  The underside and floor pans were covered in a protective rubberized finish, to ensure years of enjoyment.

The mechanics of this jeep were all gone through.  The gas tank was pulled, blasted, painted, cleaned, and re-installed with the addition of a new fuel sending unit.  The brakes were all gone through, adjusted and reworked or replaced.  The original exhaust manifold did have a crack, so a brand new unit was installed.  The engine, transmission, and transfer case have all been overhauled.  Every gauge on the dash works exactly as it should.  The vacuum controlled wiper system was all rebuilt and works exactly as it did in 1947, when this Jeep left the factory. The result is a jeep that fires right up and is ready to go anywhere her new owner wishes to take her with the reliability and comfort that you would expect from a new jeep.

The interior seats were professionally recovered in a flat black marine grade vinyl. The cushion springs were all checked and new foam padding added.  As we mentioned earlier the flooring was finished in a rubberized coating to provide worry free years of enjoyment. Whatever adventure you get into with this 1947 Willy's Jeep CJ2A, do it knowing the interior is waterproof and can easily be rinsed out.

This 1947 Willy's Jeep CJ2A WWII North Africa Division tribute is sure to be a blast and will certainly bring years of enjoyment to come.   The JEEP has a clean and clear title and is ready for the new owner.  As this vehicle is for sale locally, we do reserve the right to end the auction early.

Weekly Recap: GM scales back as Russian auto market teeters

Sat, Mar 21 2015

General Motors' extensive plans to scale back its Russian operations are the latest sign the automotive market in the former superpower is collapsing – and there are few signs of recovery. GM said Wednesday it will stop selling mainstream Chevrolets and shutter the entire Opel brand in Russia. The moves leave GM with a luxury-focused presence consisting of Cadillac and Chevrolet's Corvette, Camaro and Tahoe. The cutbacks will be completed by the end of the year. The automaker will also idle its factory in St. Petersburg and end a contract-assembly agreement with Russian manufacturer GAZ. "We had to take decisive action in Russia to protect our business," Opel Group CEO Karl-Thomas Neumann said in a statement. "We confirm our outlook to return the European business to profitability in 2016 and stick to our long-term goals." GM is the latest automaker to scale back in Russia as the economic conditions, volatile currency and uncertainty over the conflict in the Ukraine all have sandbagged new car sales. Last month, vehicle sales collapsed 38 percent in Russia to 128,298 units, according to the Association of European Business, which records sales. Joerg Schreiber, chairman of the AEB automobile manufacturers committee, didn't even feign optimism in a statement announcing the figures. "The market is entering a very difficult phase now, and February is only the beginning," he said. "Industry sentiment is the next few months will be extremely difficult and the market bottom has yet to be found." The dovetails with industry experts, who predict the Russian auto sector will remain in the doldrums. IHS said earlier this year it expects Russia's sales to slip to just 1.8 million units in 2015, which is a 40-percent drop from 2012. Other News & Notes Chief leads Jeep's Easter Safari stable Jeep is bringing seven attention-getting concepts to Moab for its annual Easter Safari off-roading celebration in Utah, but the Chief is perhaps the standout of the group. It salutes the 1970s Cherokee with a throwback appearance and surfer styling cues. The Chief has a custom modified razor grille made famous by the Wagoneer, and it rolls on 17-inch slotted mag wheels. The surf theme comes in with ocean blue paint, floral cloth and leather seats and a tiki-style shifter handle. Based on the Jeep Wrangler, the Chief has removable sides, a 3.6-liter V6 engine and a six-speed manual gearbox.

2015 Ford F-150 named Truck of Texas, Lincoln and Jeep also awarded at Truck Rodeo

Tue, 14 Oct 2014

The Ford Motor Company has a lot of reasons to celebrate after winning eight categories in this year's Texas Auto Writers Association's annual Truck Rodeo. Most important among them, the Blue Oval's latest 2015 Ford F-150 earned the prestigious Truck of Texas award, ending the Ram 1500's two-year winning streak. The 2015 Lincoln MKC also grabbed the honor as the CUV of Texas, and Ford was named Truck Line of Texas.
FoMoCo even took trophies for best technology with its extensive use of aluminum on its latest F-Series and best commercial vehicle for the new Transit 250. It wasn't a total sweep, though, because the Jeep Grand Cherokee grabbed the title of the SUV of Texas for the fifth straight time.
This year's event put 60 auto writers in 75 pickups, SUVs and crossovers and challenged them to find the best in a plethora of categories. All of the winners are listed below, and scroll down to read the full announcements from the Texas Auto Writers Association and Ford.

2015 Jeep Renegade to start at $17,995, Trailhawk rings up at $25,995

Thu, Jan 22 2015

Prices for the 2015 Jeep Renegade have leaked onto a enthusiast forum ahead of the official embargo on pricing and driving impressions, which breaks at 12:01 AM Friday. They come from a video interview with Jeep CEO Mike Manley, that was allegedly set live accidentally. It's since been pulled down. At this point, it's unclear if the listed prices include any destination charges, so they could climb slightly higher or lower. In its most basic form, the two-wheel-drive Renegade Sport will go on sale for just $17,995. For that price, you get, um, not a lot. Really. The entry level Renegade doesn't even offer standard air conditioning – it's part of a package that includes heated power mirrors and cruise control. The $21,295 Latitude adds a leather-wrapped steering wheel, standard 16-inch wheels, air conditioning, five-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Bluetooth, a six-speaker stereo and USB connectivity. The top-end Renegade Limited, meanwhile, starts at $24,795 and makes standard items of the heated, powered leather seats, dual-zone climate control, seven-inch TFT display in the instrument cluster, auto-dimming mirror and 18-inch wheels. The Limited also adds a number of aesthetic tweaks that spruce up the Renegade's exterior, including brightwork around the grille, mirror caps, taillights and roof rails. The above prices, of course, are only for the front-drive Renegade. Add $2,000 to the above prices for all-wheel drive. You won't need to add that to the all-wheel-drive-only Trailhawk, which starts at $25,995 and comes with a slew of off-road features, including a bespoke front and rear fascia, with the former sporting the world's most adorable pair of red tow hooks. Mechanically, there's an exclusive version of the brand's Active Drive all-wheel-drive system that includes a 20-to-one crawl ratio and a dedicated Rock mode for the Selec-Terrain system and 17-inch wheels. The cabin, meanwhile, is home to Ruby Red accents. While we have basic trim prices, we're still without more specific details, including the cost of marquee options like the My Sky roof, as well as the plethora of options packages that will be available when the CUV arrives in dealers. We'll have our full review of the all-new Renegade available when the embargo on driving impressions breaks Friday. In the meantime, let us know what you think of these prices. Are they where you expected them to be? Higher? Lower? Have your say in Comments. Related Video:
