If you've been looking for a nice Cherokee that's not full of rust, runs out great and has a good look to it but don't want to spend a ton than my 2001 4x4 with 112k is for you.
Mechanically this Jeep is solid. Motor sounds healthy through all the RPM's. Transmission pulls nice through all the gears with no funny shifts or slipping. Drives nice and runs out well down the road with no brake pulse or wandering. Tires have about 65% tread left. A/C is ice cold. Has a good PA inspection until 6/13 so everything is above PA spec. All the power windows work. Seems to have been well cared for mechanically over the years. Cosmetically it's also in great shape. Paint shines nice in the sun. Body is nice and straight with 1 door ding on the drivers side rear door. Although it's in well above average condition for the year and miles it's not "in the wrapper" condition. Has a couple little nicks on the one door and hood as you can in the pictures. Underneath is nice and clean and not all rusted out. Interior is nice and fresh and in good shape. Has a little tear on the drivers front seat that was stitched up. Overall very nice and clean though. Carpets and headliner in good shape. Overall this is a very nice Cherokee all the way around. If you have any questions please feel free to give me a call at 717-823-3349. My name is Zach. If you would like to see it please call and make an appointment. I am only human and may have forgot something that is important to you so please ask any and all questions before clicking. A $500 non refundable deposit is due at the end of the auction. This Jeep is being sold by Platinum Car and Truck Sales, LLC in Elizabethtown, PA. |

Chrysler resolves recall issue with NHTSA, will inspect, upgrade affected Jeeps
Tue, 18 Jun 2013Chrysler made big news earlier in the month by refusing a recall request from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration for the 1993-2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee and 2002-2007 Jeep Liberty. Last week, NHTSA boss David Strickland countered by defending his agency's request for the recall of 2.7 million Jeep SUVs. Today marked the deadline for Chrysler to formally respond to NHTSA, and it seems that both parties have met in the middle with Chrysler inspecting and upgrading some of the affected vehicles without using the word "recall," which would constitute the admission of a defect; instead, Chrysler said that it is conducting a "voluntary campaign."
At issue on these vehicles is the positioning of the fuel tank behind the rear axle that could get damaged during a rear-end collision. NHTSA has stated that at least 51 people have been killed in rear-end collisions involving these Jeeps after the vehicles caught fire, to which Chrysler countered by pointing out that both models "met and exceeded" the requirements for fuel-system integrity.
As a compromise on the situation, Chrysler says that it will inspect all pre-2004 Grand Cherokees and pre-2007 Liberty models and, "if necessary, provide an upgrade to the rear structure of the vehicle." According to Automotive News, this upgrade will consist of adding a trailer hitch that will presumably better protect the rear-mounted gas tank. Vehicles already equipped with a factory or Mopar hitch will not be modified. Chrysler's official statement on the matter is posted below, but no additional information has been released, such as when the campaign will begin and how many vehicles could be affected.

100,000 Jeep Cherokee models subject to further 9-speed recalibration
Thu, 29 May 2014It seems that the software problems with the nine-speed automatic gearbox in the Jeep Cherokee continue to mount. The programming already caused multiple development delays and even postponed the Cherokee's market launch by roughly two months. Now, Jeep has issued another recalibration to hopefully assuage unhappy drivers.
According to Automotive News, this reflash for the allegedly jerky transmission covers over 100,000 Cherokees built before May 5, but it's not technically a recall. If owners are having problems and complain to the dealer, they get the new software. Otherwise, they continue with the current version. New vehicles on dealer lots also receive the latest revision to the programming. It takes only around five minutes to install, but technicians need to take the Cherokee on a test drive to adapt the gearbox to the changes.
The Cherokee's transmission software has been problematic practically since the beginning. The Jeep plant in Toledo, OH, briefly idled its second-shift workers last year to take care of the issue. Since the launch issues for the crossover, demand has been strong. Jeep added another 1,000 temporary workers to the Toledo factory to keep up, and sales were on par with the Wrangler in just its first two months.
