1995 Jeep Cherokee Sport 4x4 Lifted Rock Crawler on 2040-cars

I have owned this Jeep for more than 10 years. It's is an extremely clean rock-crawler. Not a street Jeep. It's very well built and carefully maintained. I'm a member of a local Jeep club. I trailer this Cherokee to off-road parks across Texas, Oklahoma, and Arkansas. It goes anywhere I have the nerve to go. Its capabilities are amazing. The stock 4.0L motor has been absolutely trouble-free. I built a 3-link suspension in the front for flexibility and there are leaf springs in back for control. I love wheeling this Cherokee. Here are some of the specs: rear -- Dana 44, 4.11 gears, Detroit locker. Front -- Dana 30, 4.11 gears, Lock-Right locker. The transmission is an AW-4 four-speed automatic. The transfer case is the NP231 with slip-yoke eliminator. The rear driveshaft is a custom built CV shaft going into an upgraded U-bolt yoke. The drive angles are perfect. It has an ARB bumper up front with a Warn winch, heavy duty transmission skid plate, and rocker guard step rails. The 35" tires, combined with the 8" lift, provide amazing approach, break-over, and departure angles. You will be very happy with the performance of this Cherokee. Edit: Several people have asked about road manners. I drove it on the street today for the first time in a long time. All the lights work, and the wipers are good. The A/C blows cold and the heat works good. There is no death wobble. It handles well on the street except that both the front and rear sway bars have been removed. This makes it roll heavily in turns. I still have the front sway bar and it could be reinstalled for stability. Also, driving any vehicle, with lockers, on the street is tricky. I'll teach you the technique, if you don't know it. Overall... I think of this Cherokee as an off-road Jeep, however, I do think it would be a good around-town Jeep also. Either way, I'm sure you'll get many years of enjoyment out of it. It's a great vehicle. This Jeep is available for local pickup or I can help arrange delivery at your expense. |

Final Toledo Jeep decision may have nothing to do with city's efforts
Mon, Apr 13 2015Toledo, OH is doing all that it can to keep production of the Jeep Wrangler in its boundaries, but the biggest issue facing the plant may be insurmountable, no matter how desperately the city wants to keep the Wrangler local. The Wrangler is built in a rather interesting manner at the Toledo Supplier Park: Fiat Chrysler only handles the very final assembly of each vehicle, while two other companies, Kuka, a German firm, and Hyundai-Mobis, a member of the sprawling Hyundai empire, produce the body and chassis, respectively. The vehicles are then transferred over to the FCA part of the park, where they're painted and completed. This was, as The Detroit News explains, a convenient arrangement back in 2006 when the supplier park opened. Chrysler, which was still owned by Daimler at the time, arranged for Kuka and Mobis to handle production, saving it a huge sum of money. Both suppliers own their own machinery and buildings and employ their own workers. Now that FCA is a relatively healthy entity, though, there's not a lot of need to be sharing profits with two other companies. "What [FCA boss Sergio Marchionne] would like is to have the advantages of high-capacity utilization, owning that capacity and taking advantage of that for himself versus having a supplier doing some of the things his competitors do internally," David Cole, chairman emeritus at the Ann Arbor, MI-based Center for Automotive Research, told The News. "It really adds another level of complexity to the situation." While Sergio Marchionne is a man that generally gets what he wants, it seems unlikely that either Mobis or Kuka would give up their role quietly. According to Jon Zapf, Mobis North America's chairperson for UAW Local 12, the company "definitely wants to maintain their part of this production process." According to The News, Jeep is likely to announce the location of next-generation Wrangler production in June. Expect to hear much more on this one in the coming months.
Jeep Cherokee Trail Carver is a more rugged Trailhawk
Wed, 06 Nov 2013We briefly mentioned the Jeep Cherokee Trail Carver that was heading to SEMA last week when discussing the Mopar lineup set to be shown in Las Vegas. At the time, though, we weren't able to dive too deeply into details. But with SEMA in full swing, we were able to sneak over and grab some snaps of one of the first modified Cherokees we've seen. The Cherokee is, after all, kind of an unknown quantity in the modification department, being so new and featuring such a polarizing design. We were quite interested to see what Mopar could come up with.
Starting with the Trailhawk 4x4 and its 3.2-liter V6, the engine is fitted with a Mopar cold-air intake and a new exhaust, although it's not clear what sort of power boost has resulted. We'll admit, we were hoping Jeep and Mopar would get a bit more aggressive with the Cherokee's suspension (has anyone thrown a few-inch lift on the new Jeep yet?), but there's no mention of upgrades beyond the knobby, off-road tires. Those should do some good when the going gets rough, while rock rails are there to protect the Auburn Pearl paint on the body.
Speaking of that paint, it's complemented by an interesting graphics package in contrasting black and Crush Orange. The cabin sports Katzkin Amaretto leather seats, along with tech-friendly items like a wireless charging system for cellphones and wireless internet.
Forza Horizon 3 adds Ford Police Interceptor, Jeep CJ5
Tue, Oct 4 2016We're only a few weeks past the debut of Forza Horizon 3, and already the folks at Turn 10 are introducing the first of six car packs for the open-world driving game. Focused heavily on performance, there are still a few, um, oddballs, including one we're sure Forza's livery customizers will have a blast with. The Smoking Tire Car Pack brings seven new vehicles to FH3, with the Aston Martin Vulcan, Pagani Huayra BC, GTA Spano, Lotus 340R, and BMW M2 repping traditional performance vehicles. As per usual, FH3 renders each car beautifully and promises a solid approximation of real-world performance – even if you do ditch the roads and opt to rampage through the Australian countryside. While performance is good, the Ford Crown Victoria Police Interceptor and the Jeep CJ5 Renegade bring an off-beat vibe to this particular pack. We aren't certain, but this might be the first time the Police Interceptor appears in a blockbuster driving game. While we expect plenty of police car liveries for the Crown Vic, Forza's rabid community of tuners and customizers are sure to do much more with it. As for the CJ5, is there a better vehicle for tooling about Australia? Yeah, we didn't think so.
