Welcome Bidders,

This 1997 blue Jeep Wrangler is a vehicle which I am putting up for auction after an ending contract agreement with an advertising company. The truck has been used for photo-ops and has been featured in advertisements and magazines as it is an extremely well made replica of an Eastern European off-road police vehicle. It has served us well, but as the two-year agreement is over, it is time to sell. The white stripes and lettering on the truck are decals and easily removable. As per the vehicle history from what I understand a few years back the car was hit on the left passenger side and was not fixed professionally. Since the car was used as a replica model for photo-ops, it was non consequential to us. We were given a quote of 500 dollars for it to be fixed by a professional. See the picture of the left side of the vehicle (with black stripe). The vehicle has salvage title history but was fixed, inspected, and a clear title was issues several years ago. Cosmetically, it is not a perfect car. It may need some TLC, but everything is in working order. The engine runs smoothly (no check engine light on, no emission issues). The transmission and clutch are operating as they should and the 4x4 mechanism works perfectly. Last Fall, we outfitted this vehicle with a brand-new fast back soft top and brand new door skins. The tires are in good shape and have 80% of life left in them. Since this vehicle was constantly driven between photo sessions in Pennsylvania and Manhattan, NY I can personally attest to how much fun it is to drive it with the top down, on the open road, as well as its great and unique use of  off-road driving. It also drives very well in the snow and is practically all-terrain. It is a reliable daily driver, with all service done in a timely manner. It is equipped with a pioneer radio with a cd player and a panel-in aux input, as well as a sound bar with pioneer speakers and a CB radio. It has a thin layer of outdoor carpeting which makes it alright to get it wet in the rain, as well as making the vehicle much more quiet.  Please keep in mind that it is a seventeen year old,off-road vehicle so dents and scratches are a give-in(see pictures), and while you should not expect a showroom vehicle, it is a gem in its own right.

The bad:
Wipers work on high speed only
Left side body work not done professionally
Some spots of rust on doors (no major issues, no frame rust)
Rear seat belts are missing

The good:
Engine in very good condition with good compression on all four cylinders
Manual five-speed transmission that shifts perfectly
No leaks of any kind
4x4 works great
Inspected in a timely manner (oil changes, brakes, fluids, valve cover gasket done recently)
Solid daily driver with no issues
New top last fall  (600$)
New door skins  (200$)
Amazing drive

Please see pictures, good luck bidding, and please contact me if you need any more information.

AEV Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon

Fri, 28 Feb 2014

After their rented 2007 Hummer H3 failed them during the brutal Rallye Aicha des Gazelles in Morocco, Amy Lerner and her sister Tricia Reina were on a quest to find the most capable production off-roader for their next competition - they chose a 2012 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon. Their next mission was to find a company with the competence to configure it to win. After poring over Internet forums and perusing countless magazines for an outfitter who could meet their demanding requirements, they sent their bright orange JK ("Crush" is the official color) to American Expedition Vehicles (AEV) for some modifications.
The Michigan-based team at AEV kept the Jeep's 3.6-liter V6 and automatic transmission stock, but replaced the hood with a tall AEV Heat Reduction Hood and added an AEV Snorkel Kit for water crossings (it serves double-duty as its raised height helps to keep the air intake out of the kicked-up dust on the trail). Front and rear off-road bumpers were bolted in place, and AEV skid plates were added to provide additional undercarriage protection. A pair of IPF-900 off-road lights improve visibility, while a 10.2-gallon AEV Fuel Caddy (located behind the exterior spare) added some range. The suspension was upgraded with a 3.5-inch lift kit with Bilstein remote reservoir shocks, and 35-inch Falken Wildpeak A/T tires (LT285/70R17) were mounted at all four corners on AEV's beadlock wheels.

What will Detroit do with the abandoned AMC headquarters?

Mon, Dec 28 2015

As with so many other industrial and residential properties in Detroit, the former headquarters for the American Motors Corporation is having a hard time finding a reputable buyer. In October the Wayne County Treasurer held a tax foreclosure auction of 25,000 properties that included the AMC building, the starting bid being $500. Nicholas Casab won the building for $500, but the county voided the sale when Casab didn't pay the $232,000 in back property taxes. Detroit authorities haven't commented on the failed sale, but the city has until January 4 to decide if it wants to keep the building. If it doesn't want to hold onto it, the 1.5-million-square-foot property on 57 acres might be ceded to the Wayne County Land Bank Corporation. No matter who holds the deed come January 5, all anyone really wants is for someone to take possession of the building who will actually turn it into something useful and viable. The property opened in 1927 as a factory for the Kelvinator Corporation. Over the following decades, Kelvinator merged with the Nash Motor Company, and that merged entity merged with Hudson Motor Car Co, becoming American Motors. Chrysler took over the building in 1987 when it bought AMC, then shuttered it in 2009. The complex has produced refrigerators, Sikorsky helicopters, Jeeps, AMCs, and was used as an engineering center for Jeeps and other Chrysler products. Having been through several hands in the past six years, it is cited as part of the cycle of abandonment plaguing Detroit. Dream Cruising in three Jeep concept cars

Thu, Aug 20 2015

Those of you that have attended the yearly Woodward Dream Cruise, know that the rolling car show is many things to many people. A chance to pull the Corvette out of the garage; a time to ogle rare models you've never yet seen in the metal; a weekend for drinking a cold one with friends and simply taking in the festivities. But for our roving editor Brandon Turkus, this year was a chance to cruise in some concept Jeeps that most people will never see, let alone drive. As Turkus aptly points out from the start, Woodward isn't exactly Moab. But wheeling the off-roaders is nevertheless an eye-opening experience; they may not be upcoming products, but these Jeeps tease out a lot we'd like to see from the brand in the future. You can find these mini Short Cut reviews above, and below, but here's a recap of what Turkus got to drive. Jeep Wrangler Staff Car Concept This one's a proper salute to the Jeep military service vehicles of yore. It's an open-air concept based on the four-door Wrangler, with tons of heritage design cues. It looks old, but we promise, it's totally new. It's got basic steel wheels, a stretched canvas roof, bench seats, a painted steel floor, a built-in cooler that accommodates up to 85 cans, and is painted in an iconic Sandstorm color. When the going gets tough, the Staff Car can handle it with aplomb, thanks to the Jeep Performance Parts two-inch lift kit, Fox shocks, Dana 44 axles, and the Wrangler's 3.6-liter V6. Jeep Chief Concept This Wrangler-based concept is an excellent tribute to the classic, fullsize Jeep Cherokee from the 1970s. It's painted in a vintage Ocean Blue color, with a white, "French Bread" roof. There's also a custom razor grille (something made famous on the original Wagoneer), removable sides, chrome bumpers, and classic-looking, 17-inch wheels. Inside, there's surfer-inspired pink, blue, and white cloth mixed with leather trim, with more fun details like a Rosewood front passenger grab handle and tiki-look shift handle. Of course, this thing looks to be truly capable off-road, too, with a two-inch lift kit, Fox shocks, Dana 44 axles at the front and rear, and a 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 underhood. Jeep Wrangler Africa A take on the Wrangler Unlimited, painted in Desert Tan, and powered by a 2.8-liter diesel engine. It looks killer, with 17-inch, body-colored steel wheels wrapped in 35-inch BF Goodrich Mud Terrain tires. There's a two-inch lift kit, Dana 44 axles, and Fox shocks.
