1999 Jeep Wrangler Se Sport Utility 2-door 2.5l 5-speed With Ac on 2040-cars
Evansville, Indiana, United States
Up for auction is a good friend of mine's Jeep. It's a 1999 Wrangler 4 cylinder 5-Speed with Air Conditioning. She bought this about 3.5 years ago with 127,092 on it and it now has just over 129,291miles. So she's put almost exactly 2,200 miles on it in over 3 years. She bought it as a second vehicle/toy and just hasn't gotten much use out of it. When she bought it we found a brand new set of take off rims and tires off a new Jeep with just 50 or so miles on them. So the tires and wheels have about 2,200 miles on them as well. We had to add a 3" lift (which consisted of new springs and shocks) for the tires to fit. This made the jeep a little harder for her to get into and she just hasn't driven it much mostly I think cause of this. So the tires and wheels have about 2,200 miles on them as well. The speedometer is now a little slow due to the taller tires, but doesn't effect the way it drives. She also had the front end aligned after the lift so it would wear the tires even.
The Jeep is in pretty good shape and came out of the south. We drove to Tennessee to get it as I didn't want her to get a rusty one. This one is really clean for the year, and one of the cleanest Jeeps I have looked under. It is a 1999 and has 129K on it so it's not perfect but I helped her buy this and I am really pretty picky. The interior in in good shape minus a couple wear places mostly on the driver's seat as pictured. The top doesn't leek and seems to work like it should. The rear window zipper is kind of a pain but it still works. I think everything in the Jeep works like it should except the radio. It always has worked but today we couldn't get it to work? I haven't looked into it is an aftermarket radio and not the factory one so it should be easy to replace if you so wish. The jeep was really clean original condition when she bought it and it looked like it had been cared for. It was not muddy and had not been cleaned up. Meaning I don't think it was ever took off-roading. Since she has owned it, it has been to the local State DNR off road park 3 times. She always took the beginner trails and it was not serious off roading. It did get a little mud on the top (which is really hard to clean off by the way) but otherwise it's been on the road it's entire life as best I can tell. The hood was repainted at some point, but the rest of the paint looks factory. I don't see any dent repairs in the hood from the under side so I am not really sure why it was repainted but the color is just off enough you can barely tell. There is a few rock chips, and scratches and one scratch I included a picture of that is hidden by the spare tire. it was like that when she bought it. Please ask any questions and I will try and get back to you as soon as I can. The jeep is parked at my house and it has a clean clear title in my friend's name. You can come look at the Jeep I work normal hours so I am home in the evenings and I will be glad to show it to you. We do not have a buy it now price in mind so we will let the auction run. Thanks for looking and if you are looking for a good little Jeep that isn't all beat up or road hard and put up wet this one would be a great candidate. |

Weekly Recap: GM scales back as Russian auto market teeters
Sat, Mar 21 2015General Motors' extensive plans to scale back its Russian operations are the latest sign the automotive market in the former superpower is collapsing – and there are few signs of recovery. GM said Wednesday it will stop selling mainstream Chevrolets and shutter the entire Opel brand in Russia. The moves leave GM with a luxury-focused presence consisting of Cadillac and Chevrolet's Corvette, Camaro and Tahoe. The cutbacks will be completed by the end of the year. The automaker will also idle its factory in St. Petersburg and end a contract-assembly agreement with Russian manufacturer GAZ. "We had to take decisive action in Russia to protect our business," Opel Group CEO Karl-Thomas Neumann said in a statement. "We confirm our outlook to return the European business to profitability in 2016 and stick to our long-term goals." GM is the latest automaker to scale back in Russia as the economic conditions, volatile currency and uncertainty over the conflict in the Ukraine all have sandbagged new car sales. Last month, vehicle sales collapsed 38 percent in Russia to 128,298 units, according to the Association of European Business, which records sales. Joerg Schreiber, chairman of the AEB automobile manufacturers committee, didn't even feign optimism in a statement announcing the figures. "The market is entering a very difficult phase now, and February is only the beginning," he said. "Industry sentiment is the next few months will be extremely difficult and the market bottom has yet to be found." The dovetails with industry experts, who predict the Russian auto sector will remain in the doldrums. IHS said earlier this year it expects Russia's sales to slip to just 1.8 million units in 2015, which is a 40-percent drop from 2012. Other News & Notes Chief leads Jeep's Easter Safari stable Jeep is bringing seven attention-getting concepts to Moab for its annual Easter Safari off-roading celebration in Utah, but the Chief is perhaps the standout of the group. It salutes the 1970s Cherokee with a throwback appearance and surfer styling cues. The Chief has a custom modified razor grille made famous by the Wagoneer, and it rolls on 17-inch slotted mag wheels. The surf theme comes in with ocean blue paint, floral cloth and leather seats and a tiki-style shifter handle. Based on the Jeep Wrangler, the Chief has removable sides, a 3.6-liter V6 engine and a six-speed manual gearbox.
Alfa Romeo will gain a Jeep Compass-based SUV
Fri, Nov 30 2018It was reported earlier this week that FCA would invest into its Italian factories to ramp up production at currently underutilized locations. Those plans have now been clarified with official information from FCA, as reported by Automotive News. The entire investment is worth $5.7 billion. First of all, Alfa Romeo will gain a new compact SUV based on the Jeep Compass architecture. The still-unnamed model will be available as a plug-in hybrid, and it will be built in Pomigliano, Italy. No U.S. availability has yet been announced, but it would not be odd to see the Compass-based model sold below the Stelvio in the States. The last time Alfa Romeo had anything similar in its model portfolio was when it offered Crosswagon-badged four-wheel-drive versions of the 156 and 159 wagons. As for the Jeep Compass itself, it will begin to be built at the Melfi plant in Italy. The rumored small "baby" Jeep slotting under the Renegade has not yet been officially mentioned. Fiat will introduce a battery electric 500, built in Turin, and the Pomigliano plant that will make the compact Alfa Romeo SUV will also be used to build a mild hybrid version of the Panda city car. The 500X will gain a PHEV variant. The Stelvio platform will also spawn a corresponding SUV for Maserati, and FCA also mentioned Maserati will introduce a new, unnamed model it will make in Modena. Automotive News quotes Italian press as saying this will be the Alfieri coupe and convertible, also offered as battery electric versions. Related Video:
NHTSA investigating 2015 Jeep Cherokee after new owner's total-loss fire [w/video]
Fri, Jan 16 2015The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has opened a Preliminary Evaluation into the 2015 model year Jeep Cherokee after a single example caught on fire in California. This investigation will decide the cause, scope and frequency of this possible problem and will decide whether a recall is necessary for 50,415 potentially affected examples. According to Automotive News, the Cherokee's owner only purchased the CUV about two days before the fire, and it had been driven less than 100 miles. The new buyer reported parking the Jeep, and noticed a smell like smoke. Shortly after, the vehicle was consumed in flames. There were no injuries, but much of the incident was captured on video. NHTSA is also trying to decide whether another report is related. In this case, a driver noticed smoke under the hood of a 2015 Cherokee with just 45 miles on it, while driving at 60 miles per hour. According to the complaint to the agency, "the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired," but FCA was notified. Read below NHTSA's announcement of the Preliminary Evaluation.
