1993 Jeep Wrangler W/ Lt1 V8 Corvette Engine on 2040-cars
Fort Collins, Colorado, United States
This Jeep is a bit of a fixer upper, but it still runs fine, it's a lot of fun to drive, and it's one of a kind! The GOOD: LT1 V8 Corvette engine with only approx. 64,000 miles on it, wheels and tires are only a few months old, the soft top is only a few months old, it has a Ford 9inch rear axle (which is one of the strongest out there) to manage the torque of the Corvette engine, lockers on rear wheels, it runs great, there's only minor cosmetic damage, and it's almost completely set up for 4 wheel drive (I have the front drive shaft, all you have to do is install it). The BAD: It can't pass an emissions test because of the engine swap (not an issue if you don't have to get emissions tested), the power steering is starting to go, but it's still driveable and the power steering fluid just needs to be changed out, the heat doesn't work very well, there is a small gap between the soft top and the doors (I'm in the process of converting it from full door to half door, the half doors will come with the Jeep), and the antenna is broken. I don't want to sell this Jeep, but I just moved to an area that requires emissions testing, and I don't have the time to make it passable. This baby could be your daily driver, or it could just as easily make a badass rock crawler! If you have any questions, please feel free to shoot me an email.

Germany threatens to ban FCA vehicles over diesel emissions dispute
Tue, May 24 2016Germany is threatening to ban sales of FCA products over diesel emissions. According to the newspaper Bild Am Sonntag, Germany's Federal Motor Transport Authority found evidence of a so-called defeat device that shuts down certain emissions controls after running for 22 minutes. A standard diesel emissions test in the European Union reportedly takes 20 minutes to complete. FCA denies the allegations. "We believe all our vehicles respect EU emissions standards and we believe Italian regulators are the competent authority to evaluate this," the company said in a statement. The latter part of that statement drew ire from German authorities, especially after FCA declined to meet with German transport minister Alexander Dobrindt to discuss the issue. Graziano Delrio, the Italian Minister of Infrastructure and Transport, vowed to work with German authorities on behalf of FCA. According to EU law, FCA is required to homologate its vehicles in Italy because that's where its regional operations are based. When will the diesel-scented soap opera end? We wish we knew, but our Magic 8 Ball is covered in soot. Jeep mulling power top for next Wrangler
Fri, 07 Mar 2014Jeep is hard at work on the next-generation Wrangler, though the truck is still a few years from hitting the trails. The new model will still be aimed at off-roaders, but rumors suggest it will be a little more comfortable than previous versions to appeal to more people.
According to Road and Track, Jeep is developing a power-retractable top as an expensive option for the Wrangler. There is no word if the top in question is a sliding canvas rollback like the ones found on many European vehicles or a full convertible hardtop or softtop, nor do we know whether it would be made available on two- or four-door models. It might be a nice feature for some buyers but would certainly add complexity to a truck already known for its ruggedness. We asked Jeep for confirmation, but Jeep spokesperson Todd Goyer could only remind us that the company "can't comment about future products."
In news that is likely to irk the faithful, R&T reports the next model may also ditch its folding windshield for improved safety and possibly even get rid of its rear-mounted, full-size spare tire. The new Wrangler won't go completely soft, though, and will reportedly still feature removable doors and solid axles.
